Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 9/30, 8:19 PM CT
In addition to stealing his first base of the season on Wednesday night, Paul Konerko drove in the game's only run, as Chicago blanked the Indians 1-0 in the second game of a double-header.

Our View: The steal was just the eighth of his career in 1,698 games played. Amazing.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/22, 10:37 PM CT
Paul Konerko was productive in tonight's 8-6 loss to Minnesota at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit a single, double and a solo homer off Matt Guerrier.

Our View: Konerko was in need of a solid performance, as he was hitting 2-for-13 over his previous four games. He still leads the Sox with 28 homers and 87 RBI.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/8, 11:30 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Brett Tomko in Tuesday's 11-3 loss to Oakland at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View: Konerko launched three homers over seven games this month, and now leads Chicago with 26, passing Jermaine Dye (25). He continues to pace the club with 82 RBI as well.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 9/5, 6:05 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. He hit a single and a solo homer off Hideki Okajima.

Our View: Konerko is off to a good start this month, as he hit a homer in two of five games. He is also riding a six-game hitting streak.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 9/3, 4:06 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-4 on Thursday, driving in his 78th run in the process, as the White Sox beat a collapsing Cubs team 5-0 at Wrigley Field.

Our View: Konerko has rebounded splendidly from a dreadful 2008 season in 2009, hitting .280 with 24 home runs to go along with his 78 RBI.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 8/30, 12:09 PM CT
Paul Konerko is not in the White Sox's lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. Mark Kotsay will take over at first base in Konerko's place.

Our View: Konerko isn't a young man anymore, and he needs some days off here and there. This is a good way to get Kotsay into the lineup, and Konerko should be back tomorrow.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/26, 9:19 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in tonight's 3-2 loss at Boston.

Our View: The 33-year-old first baseman notched his first triple of 2009, and only the seventh of his career. He is riding a four-game hitting streak, and continues to lead the Sox with 76 RBI.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 8/24, 10:25 PM CT
Paul Konerko was productive in tonight's 12-8 loss at Boston, as he went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer off Clay Buchholz.

Our View: Konerko crushed his 23rd homer, topping his season total of 2008. He hit a homer in two of his last five games.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 8/18, 10:43 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 2-for-5 with a single and a solo homer of Gil Meche in tonight's 5-4 loss to the Royals at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View: Konerko snapped a 10-game skid without a homer, and has 22 dingers for 2009. He failed to register a hit over his previous seven games (22 at-bats) as well.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 7/26, 10:02 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 2-for-4 on Sunday, hitting his 19th home run in the process, as the White Sox avoided a four game sweep in Detroit, winning 5-1.

Our View: After a horrid 2008, Konerko has rebounded nicely in 2009, and should finish the season in his usual 30 homer, 100 RBI territory.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 7/20, 10:36 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 2-for-4 on Monday with a three-run home run, his 18th jack of the season.

Our View: Konerko got his batting average back above .300 with the effort and continues to add to his great bounce-back campaign.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/7, 10:18 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with seven RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 10-6 win over the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field. All three of his hits were home runs.

Our View: Konerko has 16 homers for the season, and now leads the Sox with 57 RBI, passing Jermaine Dye (51). The last member of the White Sox to launch three homers in a game was Harold Baines.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/1, 9:05 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in tonight's 6-2 win at Cleveland. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: Konerko now leads the Sox with 49 RBI, passing Jermaine Dye (48). He also leads the club with 17 doubles.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/30, 10:19 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Cliff Lee in tonight's 11-4 win at Cleveland. The game was called after the seventh inning due to rain.

Our View: Konerko collected his 13th homer of the season, with six coming in June. He should remain a nice source for power heading into the new month.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/23, 10:08 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Hiroki Kuroda in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View: Konerko has 10 homers for the season, and continues to lead the Sox with 44 RBI. He extended his hitting streak to eight games tonight as well.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/19, 9:44 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Francisco Cordero in Friday's 4-3 loss at Cincinnati.

Our View: Konerko has a five-game hitting streak, and ended a seven-game skid without a homer. He continues to lead the Sox with 42 RBI.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/13, 6:06 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's 7-1 win at Milwaukee. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: He fared well after missing Friday's game with a jammed right thumb. Konerko looks to be fine to keep active in fantasy lineups.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/13, 12:08 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that White Sox' first baseman Paul Konerko is back in the lineup for Saturday's game. Konerko was out Friday with an injured righ thumb.

Our View: It was expected that Konerko would return today, so the good news is that his thumb is not doing any worse. He will have to play through some pain, but he should still be effective at the plate unless the injury gets worse.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/12, 5:45 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Paul Konerko is out of Friday's lineup while nursing his ailing right thumb, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: Josh Fields will cover first base in his absence at Milwaukee. There is belief that Konerko will be ready to return to the diamond Saturday.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/12, 9:58 AM CT
The Arlington Daily Herald is reporting that Paul Konerko received a cortisone shot in his injured right thumb on Thursday and that he may be available for Friday's game. It is more likely, however, that he will return on Saturday instead. Konerko jammed his thumb in Wednesday's game and has not played since.

Our View: The White Sox don't want to get Konerko hurt more seriously, so don't be shocked if he is out tonight. We will keep you updated on his status, but it seems more likely that he will not play until tomorrow. Plan you fantasy lineup without him, but stay tuned for news on his status for tonight.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 6/11, 11:05 AM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times reports via Twitter that Paul Konerko will be available for Friday's game. He jammed his thumb in Wednesday's game.

Our View: This seems to indicate that he will not be available for Thursday's day game against the Tigers. Konerko is hitting .291 this season and he is on pace for 22 home runs and 105 RBI.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/10, 11:40 PM CT
Paul Konerko left Wednesday's game against the Tigers with a jammed right thumb, according to the AP. He will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

Our View: Hopefully the injury is not anything significant, but Konerko has a history of thumb problems. He is having a very good season despite the White Sox struggles.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/10, 12:13 AM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View: Konerko has a four-game hitting streak, with five RBI over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is hot.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/17, 3:13 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's 8-2 loss at Toronto. He collected two doubles and a single.

Our View: The Sox only mustered seven hits as a team. Konerko quietly has a six-game hitting streak, with 10 hits over the span.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/7, 9:37 PM CT
Paul Konerko was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored as the White Sox beat the Tigers 6-0 on Thursday.

Our View: Konerko is hitting .310 to start the season, which is well above what he has done the last two seasons. We can't help but expect that a slump is lurking. Tonight was his first RBI in six games, and he now has 20 on the season.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/28, 6:33 PM CT
Paul Konerko drove in the White Sox' only two runs of the game with a 1-for-3 effort in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

Our View: Konerko is hitting .329 on the season with nine extra-base hits and 17 RBI and looks like the masher of old after a disappointing 2008 campaign. He's still not likely to bump many mixed league fantasy first basemen out of their starting spots, but he could be a useful waiver pick to plug into a utility role.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/13, 4:24 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit the 300th home run of his career on Monday as the White Sox beat the Tigers 10-6. He finished the day 4-for-5 with two more doubles, four RBI, and two runs scored.

Our View: Konerko may be coming around. He's a much better hitter at his home ball park than on the road, but he did his damage today in Detroit. His numbers have fallen off for the past two seasons, and while a good season may be in store, we don't think he'll challenge the Top 10 players at his position anytime soon.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/10, 11:49 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit his first home run of the spring in a losing effort as the White Sox fell 12-5 to the Twins. He was 2-for-4 on the day.

Our View: The home run was Konerko's first extra base hit this season. His numbers fell off dramatically the last two seasons, and he has been reduced to an AL-only fantasy player.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/19, 6:06 PM CT
Paul Konerko was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Giants.

Our View: Konerko now has four home runs in 45 at-bats this spring and he is hitting .378. After a very slow start last season, Konerko finished relatively strong. We feel that he will resemble that second half hitter for most of 1009.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/18, 6:09 PM CT
Paul Konerko's hot spring continued Wednesday. He went 3-for-4 and raised his average to an un-Konerko-like .357.

Our View: Konerko had a miserable 2008, with his lowest offensive totals in five years, but seems to be bounding back this spring. He's a good source of power in AL-only leagues.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 3/13, 7:51 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a pair of runs scored Friday against San Diego. He also hit his third homer of the spring in the second off of Chris Young.

Our View: The 33-year-old endured a sub-par season in 2008. His 22 home runs, 62 RBI, and .240 average were all his lowest marks since 2003. He still has plenty of gas left in the tank to offer plenty of fantasy value, but it is limited to either deep AL-only leagues or a spot start from your bench.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/5, 12:06 AM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-2 on Wednesday with a solo homer to lead of the fifth inning.

Our View: This was already Konerko's second home run of the spring. He seems to have something left in the tank and could get back to 30 home runs if he can stay healthy, which was an issue last year for him.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 2/27, 7:40 PM CT
Paul Konerko was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored as the White Sox defeated Arizona 10-1 on Friday.

Our View: Konerko did not have a good season in 2008 mostly due to an early-season hand injury. He should be able to do better this season, and 30 home runs is not a stretch.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 2/24, 8:44 AM CT
If a trade is in the best interest of the White Sox, first baseman Paul Konerko said he would be open to it, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "I would never be opposed to that. It doesn't have to be a breakup that's antagonistic. It doesn't have to be a thing where heads are butted," he said.

Our View: Nothing is in the works, and there are no trade talks surrounding Konerko, but if the season doesn't go as well as the team wants, he could be trade bait. He has 10 years of major-league service and five with the same team, so he has the right to veto any trade.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 2/18, 9:44 AM CT
Paul Konerko is aiming for a fast start in 2009, according to SouthsideSox.com. He said, "You have to be responsible for your year, despite what happened in April and May. There were times early in the year that - especially like fastballs where I was not getting to places I usually get to - you kind of have that question, like, OK, is this because my hand hurts a little bit or just that time when you stop hitting those pitches like you used to?"

Our View: He had a down year in 2008 due to nagging injuries, but could be a solid value pick for 2009 if he can stay intact.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 10/28, 10:03 AM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times suggests that Paul Konerko could be traded for Chone Figgins if Mark Teixeira leaves the Angels as a free agent.

Our View: The White Sox have previously displayed interest in Figgins, and Konerko almost signed with the Angels as a free agent back in 2005. His power numbers would likely take a hit if he no longer plays his home games at launching-pad U.S. Cellular Field.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 10/12, 10:35 AM CT
Paul Konerko commented on Chicago's season, which ended in the ALDS against the Rays, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The veteran first baseman said, "All in all, I look at this year as far as the team, and I think we went exactly as far as we were supposed to go with the injuries we had at the end. We got every last gasp out of how it shook out the last month and a half. Guys went down (namely Joe Crede, Carlos Quentin, and Jose Contreras). You don't complain about it. You don't make excuses. But it makes you have to dig deeper earlier. Your playoffs start in September, and it's tough to keep it going. We just ran out of gas."

Our View: He will turn 33 in March, and will work on his conditioning and improving his health in the off-season after being limited to 122 games due to several injuries.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 10/6, 8:48 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit his second home run of the playoffs on Monday night though it wasn't enough as the Sox fell 6-2 to the Rays to end their season.

Our View: Unfortunately for the Sox Konerko produced only two RBI in the four games. Konerko will enter 2009 undervalued because of his down overall numbers (.240-22-62) though he would appear to still have some thunder left in his stick.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 10/3, 8:31 PM CT
Paul Konerko was 1-for-5 and left six runners on base in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rays in Game 2 of the ALDS.

Our View: Konerko was big for the White Sox in August and September but he was off on Friday. He hit a home run in Game 1 and should get back on track in Game 3 in Chicago.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 9/28, 4:39 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit his fourth home run in three games as the White Sox beat the Indians 5-1 on Sunday.

Our View: That makes nine home runs in 18 games played in September for the first basman. He hit just .176 in the first half but clearly found his stroke as the season drew to a close. He hit 13 of his 22 homeruns in August and September.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 9/27, 9:32 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit a pair of home runs on Saturday night in the White Sox's 12-6 loss.

Our View: Konerko's two bombs were his 20 and 21st of the year but they needed more as the Sox are trying to catch the Twins for a playoff birth.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/16, 10:12 PM CT
Paul Konerko returned from a September 9 knee injury in fashion against the Yankees on Tuesday. Batting fifth, he recorded a double and a single in four at bats to go with one RBI.

Our View: It was a good showing from the first baseman. The White Sox will need his previously hot bat as they continue to make a run at the post-season.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 9/15, 7:17 PM CT
When White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko hurt his knee last week, it did not look good. But today Konerko took 30 swings in the batting cage and pronounced himself ready to start Tuesday night, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Having Konerko back in the lineup will be a big boost for the Sox down the stretch as they try to reach the playoffs.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 9/15, 9:30 AM CT
Paul Konerko, who is recovering from a slightly sprained right knee, indicated he was feeling better following a batting practice session on Sunday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The veteran first baseman said, "It's still a little sore. I was hitting off a tee, so I didn't swing all out because it was the first time."

Our View: Whie he is recovering favorably, he is not ready to make predictions as to whether he will be ready to return in the upcoming series against the Yankees.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 9/14, 1:46 PM CT
Konerko is unwilling to predict when he will return from his sprained knee, the Associated Press reports.

Our View: There had previously been speculation that he could return Monday. He is looking like an iffy start for fantasy owners this week.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 9/14, 10:49 AM CT
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Konerko (knee) could return before next weekend against the Yankees.

Our View: Previously, Konerko didn't seem at all likely to return before next weekend. He is still a risky play this week for fantasy owners due to the injury.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 9/13, 8:04 AM CT
Paul Konerko is expected to take batting practice Saturday, according to the Daily Herald. He left Wednesday's game with a mild sprain of the MCL in his right knee.

Our View: Konerko won't play over the weekend, but the Sox are expected to know more about his status Monday.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 9/11, 5:57 PM CT
Paul Konerko's knee injury isn't believed to be serious but he will still not see the field at least until next Monday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Konerko will continue to ride the pine allowing Nick Swisher to move to first, Jim Thome to stay at DH. The Sox are in a dog fight and could certainly use the hot hitting Konerko back in the lineup, but fantasy leaguers will have to make other plans through the weekend.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 9/10, 4:09 PM CT
Paul Konerko had an MRI on Wednesday that confirmed what was originally believed - his injured knee is merely a sprain, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Konerko is out of action for Wednesday, but the hope is that he will be able to play on Friday, a good sign for his owners who have finally been rewarded for their patience as he has hit .356 over his last 28 games.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/9, 9:48 PM CT
Paul Konerko has been diagnosed with a mild sprain of the MCL in his right knee, the Chicago Tribune reports. X-rays were negative, and he will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

Our View: We don't know how long Konerko will be out, but the short-term solution for the Pale Hose will likely be to move Nick Swisher to first base and open up an outfield spot for Brian Anderson, Dewayne Wise, or Jerry Owens.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/9, 8:52 PM CT
Paul Konerko injured his right knee during Tuesday night's game against the Blue Jays. He suffered the ailment during a rundown in the fifth inning, the Chicago Tribune explains. Nick Swisher took his place at first base.

Our View: Judging by Konerko's reaction, he didn't just tweak anything. We'll update his status when more is known, but it's a good bet that the future includes an MRI and some days out of the lineup.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 9/8, 9:51 AM CT
Paul Konerko had been quiet for most of the season, but is heating up at the right time as he notched a homer in three straight games, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He is hitting .461 (6-for-13) over the three-game span. Skipper Ozzie Guillen said, "Good thing Paulie is swinging the bat the way he is because now is when we really need it."

Our View: Konerko is once again worthy of fantasy consideration, and the White Sox start a four-game series against Toronto today, and then host the Tigers for three games.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/2, 10:26 PM CT
Paul Konerko has finally showed some signs of life recently, and in the White Sox 9-3 win on Tuesday, he continued to prosper, going 2-for-4.

Our View: Konerko has hits in six of his last seven games, and multiple hits in four of those games. He's likely available in many fantasy leagues, and taking a flier on him could prove beneficial in the final month.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 9/1, 10:25 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 1-for-3 on Monday as he continues to inch his batting average up to respectability (currently it sits at .236).

Our View: Konerko is hitting .329 over his last 23 games during which time his plate discipline has returned (19 BB, 10 K in 23 games). He could be a legitimate option down the stretch as he should have been all season.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/27, 9:11 PM CT
The White Sox fell in horrific fashion to the Orioles this evening, 11-3, but not before Paul Konerko had a few swings of interest. Konerko went 2-for-3 at the dish with one walk and his 13th homer of the season, posting one RBI and one run scored on the night.

Our View: Konerko has improved dramatically since finding health this month, hitting .321 through August coming into this evening after a troublesome .209 average in July.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 8/24, 4:36 PM CT
Paul Konerko had just one at-bat on the day, but it was a big one. Pinch hitting in the bottom of the ninth inning, Konerko singled, driving in A.J. Pierzynski to tie the Rays, and Chicago would go on to win 6-5 in 10 innings.

Our View: Even with his heroics, Konerko remains an iffy fantasy play. He is hitting .313 in August, but his overall average is still a miserable .230.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/14, 4:32 PM CT
Paul Konerko had a big day at the plate for the White Sox, going 3-for-5 with a home run, run scored and RBI in Chicago's 9-2 win over the Royals.

Our View: Konerko is struggling through a miserable year, but he is now hitting .333 in August with three home runs. Whether or not this is just a two week episode a rebound to a poor season remains to be seen.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 8/5, 2:20 PM CT
The trade deadline acquisition of Ken Griffey Jr. has resulted in White Sox captain Paul Konerko losing at-bats. The inconsistent Konerko is hitting just .212 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI on the season, this in 302 at-bats.

Our View: The right-handed sluggler is receiving playing time only against left-handers and that doesn't look to change heading into August and September, save an injury to Griffey or Swisher. In leagues with shallow benches it could be time for owners to move on without Konerko.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/30, 10:17 AM CT
Paul Konerko may be benched soon, and it may not be for a one-day rest, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Manager Ozzie Guillen said, "I've got to talk to him first. I'm not going to make a move without telling him what's on my mind. My question is, if I bench Paulie, who's on first?"

Our View: Konerko continues to struggle with a .213 average, with only nine homers over 291 at-bats. Guillen suggested that Nick Swisher could cover first base with Brian Anderson and Dewayne Wise working in a platoon in center field. Konerko should not be active in fantasy lineups for the upcoming week.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 7/26, 3:16 PM CT
Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko has been scratched from tonight's lineup against Detroit, according to ChicagoSports.com.

Our View: Konerko is just 3-for-24 lifetime (.125) against tonight's starter, Justin Verlander, who has won consecutive decisions and is 2.30 ERA over his past eight starts.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/8, 1:45 PM CT
Paul Konerko has been activated from the DL following his bout with an oblique strain, according to the Sports Network. To make room for him on the roster, the Sox designated infielder Pablo Ozuna for assignment.

Our View: He was only hitting .215 prior to going on the shelf, and hopefully he will benefit from the time off and get on track in the second half of the season. Now Nick Swisher can move back to the outfield.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 7/4, 5:05 PM CT
Paul Konerko has been sent to Triple-A Charlotte to begin his rehab assignment, according to the AP. He is recovering from a left oblique strain. Konerko said, "It’s good we’re winning. My focus is solely on this team getting to the playoffs. I have no other motives, nothing else. It’s about this team getting to the playoffs." The team also recalled veteran hurler Esteban Loaiza from his injury rehab assignment at Charlotte.

Our View: Konerko isn't expected back until after the All-Star break. Hopefully he will have a stronger second half of the season, as he currently holds a .215 batting average.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 7/3, 8:35 AM CT
Paul Konerko is getting closer to starting his rehab assignment at Triple-A after taking a second day of intense batting practice, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "It's [close] to getting game-ready for Triple-A soon," he said.

Our View: Konerko likely won't be back until after the All-Star break, and when he does come back, fantasy owners can only hope he improves on his horrid .215 batting average.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/1, 9:55 AM CT
Paul Konerko's strained oblique basically has his recovery in a holding pattern with the team waiting for him to give OK to increase his workload, according to the Chicago Sun Times. "He's making his steps, he's going forward, but it has to come from his mouth how he feels and how many games he's going to play down there," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View: The hope is that Konerko will be back prior to the All-Star break, but the team might play it safe and give him a couple of extra days to work on things before activating him.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/28, 2:58 PM CT
The White Sox report first baseman Paul Konerko felt minor discomfort today after taking batting practice with the team, the first time Konerko has done so in weeks, but the performance could get him on the road to a minor-league rehabilitation assignment, according to ChicagoSports.com.

Our View: Recovering from a left oblique strain, Konerko noted he has no known timetable for events but was happy to get swings in today. The discomfort was expected and is one of many little steps that will come between now and his return to action.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/27, 4:47 PM CT
Paul Konerko, out with a strained oblique, will make some minor league rehab appearances before he is activated from the DL, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Konerko has had a poor season, but if you stashed him away on your roster just in case, keep an eye out for when he begins those rehab appearances, because he likely won't be down for too long before coming back to the bigs.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 6/26, 9:13 PM CT
Paul Konerko's strained oblique is healing well, so well in fact that he might resume batting practice on Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Konerko has been taking some soft-toss swings while playing catch as he builds up to a more strenuous workout. He is eligible to come off the DL on Monday, and there is some optimism growing that he might be ready at that time.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/24, 9:54 PM CT
Paul Konerko took some swings before Tuesday's game. He hopes to take live batting practice by Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Konerko is on the DL with a left oblique strain.

Our View: Konerko hopes to return from the DL when he's eligible on June 30, but we'll have to see how he progresses over the next few days.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/22, 10:11 PM CT
Paul Konerko hopes that a new work regimen will allow him to return from a strained left oblique as soon as he is eligible on June 30th, according to MLB.com. "This is one of those where you know you're [going to] swing, so you kind of want to make sure [it's healed], because you wouldn't want to activate somebody and then the first night go out and then have to recall the guy you just sent down."

Our View: Konerko should be cleared to hit off the tee on Wednesday and after that be cleared for BP by the weekend. Hopefully when he comes back he will be able to return to his all-star caliber hitting and not look anything like the hitter he was for most of the early going.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/20, 8:37 AM CT
Paul Konerko, who is recovering from a strained left oblique, will ride a stationary bike over the weekend, and isn't sure if he'll do a rehab stint, according to the Daily Herald. He said the plan is to start doing some light core work with a medicine ball next week and see where it goes from there. He commented that a possible rehab stint would be up to GM Kenny Williams.

Our View: He is eligible to come off the DL on June 30. If he does get sent on a rehab assignment, he hopes he completes it soon enough to be activated the first day eligible.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/18, 9:41 AM CT
Paul Konerko sounds like a man who will need more than the minimum 15 days to come off the DL. He is dealing with a strained left oblique. "The first week, I'm not supposed to do anything at all physical," Konerko informs the Chicago Tribune. "I mean, nothing at all, not even riding the bike or anything. Then we'll move on and build up from there." The first baseman says it currently hurts to laugh or sneeze.

Our View: We could be wrong and maybe this injury will clear up quickly, but fantasy owners need to prepare to be without Konerko for longer than two weeks. We're sure you will all miss the .215 average.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/17, 1:49 PM CT
Paul Konerko has been placed on the 15-day DL due to his strained left oblique, according to MLB.com. As an adjoining move, the team purchased the contract of outfielder DeWayne Wise from Triple-A Charlotte.

Our View: The move is retroactive to June 15, and will be Konerko's first trip to the DL. He would be eligible to come off DL on June 30. Nick Swisher will likely cover first base while he is out of action.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/15, 7:52 PM CT
Paul Konerko's strained muscle in his left rib cage could land him on the 15-day DL, according to the Chicago Tribune. Skipper Ozzie Guillen said, "When you've got the problem with the rib cage, I hope for the best, but I'm not too optimistic about it because I know how the thing can be. We're going to make a decision Tuesday to see what we'll do."

Our View: Nick Swisher would likely cover first base if Konerko goes on the shelf. The team could potentially call up speedy outfielder Jerry Owens to man center field in Swisher's place.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/15, 4:18 PM CT
Paul Konerko was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to a strained left oblique muscle, according to the AP.

Our View: Konerko was out of the lineup earlier in the week, and the team did not disclose the reason. The severity of his oblique ailment is yet to be determined.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/11, 7:40 PM CT
Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko is out of the lineup this evening as the White Sox face the Detroit Tigers.

Our View: The team failed to give a reason why Konerko was taking a rest, and it may be just that... he needs a break. Or it may be Konerko's record against tonight's starter for the Tigers, Justin Verlander (Konerko is 3-for-24 with eight strikeouts against Verlander).
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/8, 6:19 PM CT
The White Sox enjoyed a fun-filled day at Comiskey, putting the 12-2 whooping on the Minnesota Twins. The surge was led by first baseman Paul Konerko , going 2-for-4 with two doubles to post two RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Deuces wild for the normally-reliable Konerko today, a trend of sorts on the week. Konerko has gone 2-for-4 in each of the three games against the Twins, moving to 8-for-28 on the month. The overall numbers still lack, but he is showing signs of improving.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 6/5, 3:26 PM CT
The White Sox have selected Georgia University shortstop Gordon Beckham with the eighth overall selection in Thursday's draft, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Beckham is hitting .397 with 24 home runs, 65 RBI and 17 stolen bases for the Bulldogs, and is also a finalist for USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award. He displays power to all fields, and will shore up the middle of Chicago's infield when he is ready.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/4, 11:55 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 15th inning Wednesday night, helping the Chicago White Sox to a 6-4 victory against the Kansas City Royals. Konerko, who has Jimmy Gobble's number, was batting only .198 when he hit the game winning shot.

Our View: It was the second time this season that Konerko has hit a game winning home run of the Royals left-handed specialist, Gobble.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/3, 3:39 PM CT
Paul Konerko will return to the cleanup spot in the order against the Royals tonight, according to the Chicago Tribune. Tonight's lineup has Orlando Cabrera leading off, with AJ Pierzynski second, and Carlos Quentin third. Jim Thome drops to fifth in the order, with Jermaine Dye following him sixth. Nick Swisher moves up to seventh, and Joe Crede drops to eighth. Alexei Ramirez gets the start at second base, and hits ninth.

Our View: Konerko is still struggling at the plate, but Manager Ozzie Guillen still has faith in him. He remains a risky fantasy option, but could generate solid numbers from the cleanup spot in the solid Chicago order if he gets on track.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/29, 10:42 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit his sixth home run of the season which just so happened to be his first in 23 games in May.

Our View: Not only has he had no power to speak of thanks to his hand injury, he also hasn't been able to produce any hits either with a .205 average in May. His luck is bound to change sometime soon, his BABIP is just .230, and when it does he figures to go on an extended run of success.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/27, 11:01 AM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen is pleased with Paul Konerko, despite going 0-for-6 on Monday, according to MLB.com. Guillen said, "He swung the bat great today. He finished 0-for-6, but he hit three right on the nose. He just has to stay with them."

Our View: Guillen has faith he can get on track, but Konerko is only hitting .204 with five homers and 23 RBI, and is yet to hit a homer in May. He is best left on your bench if you have a more favorable option at the position.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/26, 10:55 AM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen expects Paul Konerko to return early in the week, maybe Monday or Tuesday against Cleveland, according to CBSsports.com. He is nursing a right hand ailment.

Our View: Konerko is only hitting .212 with five homers and 23 RBI, and is yet to hit a homer in May. He is best left on your bench when he returns, if you have a more favorable option at the position.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 5/23, 10:37 PM CT
Paul Konerko didn't play Friday and will be available only for pinch hitting the next few days due to a sore right hand, according to the AP. The Sox played Nick Swisher at first base and Brian Anderson in center Friday.

Our View: At this point, a DL stint doesn't seem likely for Konerko, but we'll keep you posted.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/22, 9:05 AM CT
Paul Konerko's MRI on his right hand revealed no structural damage, according to the Chicago Tribune. Konerko said, "I'm not really talking about the hand now."

Our View: He has played with the sore hand for nearly a month. He is only hitting .216 with five homers and 23 RBI over 43 games this season, but he has registered a hit in four straight games.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/3, 3:09 PM CT
The Chicago White Sox struggled to get their bats going in today's 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Only 1B Paul Konerko managed to post multiple hits on the day, going 2-for-4 at the plate, both singles, both failing to drive in a run.

Our View: Konerko has struggled a bit, now carrying a batting average of .233. However, this is his third multi-hit performance in four games and his fifth in his last nine outings.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 5/2, 6:22 PM CT
Paul Konerko (hand) will not be in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.

Our View: Konerko will be available to pinch-hit if necessary.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/30, 11:23 AM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen will give Paul Konerko a day off to rest on Wednesday, after he was jammed and hurt his hand on Tuesday night during their loss to Minnesota, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Chicago's day off on Thursday is believed to give Konerko enough time to heal from his hand injury. Nick Swisher will cover first on Wednesday, and Brian Anderson will start in center field.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/27, 7:06 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit a pair of home runs to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 Sunday.

Our View: Konerko was hitting just .197 with three homers coming into Sunday's game. The two home run effort might kick start the power hitting first baseman.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/25, 1:36 PM CT
Paul Konerko has been productive this season despite his .203 batting average, according to MLB.com. He has generated 13 RBI over his last 13 games, and has 16 total over 20 outings. He has scored 11 runs so far as well.

Our View: Can you imagine how many RBI he would have right now if he was actually hitting well? You can use his low average to your advantage by trying to lure him away for a low price.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/23, 11:19 PM CT
The Chicago White Sox fell to the New York Yankees, 6-4 this evening, and 1B Paul Konerko once again struggled to contribute to the effort (at least at the plate). Konerko went 0-for-3, and while he did gather one RBI on a sacrifice fly, he stranded to crucial runners on base and watched his batting average drop to .185.

Our View: The inability to keep a trend of hitting going, sporting just six hits over his last 10 games, is a troubling concern for the man that has been an offensive gem for the White Sox in recent seasons. He's not walking, he's not hitting, and he's struggling to find his groove.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/20, 12:20 PM CT
Paul Konerko is expected to ride the pine on Sunday, according to The Chicago Sun Times. Manager Ozzie Guillen commented, "I'm going to give him a few days to get his mind clear for when we get back to Chicago."

Our View: He went 0-for-3 on Saturday, and is only hitting 10-for-58 on the season, with 14 strikeouts. He has 13 RBI over 17 games, but should benefit from some time off.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 4/19, 8:45 PM CT
Paul Konerko went 0-for-3 on Saturday night to drop his average to just .172 on the year. DH Jim Thome is also hitting .172.

Our View: Konerko is coming off a down season last year of .259-30-90, but he has still hit at least 30 HR with 90 RBI in 4-straight seasons so one would figure that a rebound is in the cards for the Sox first baseman.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/15, 1:58 PM CT
Paul Konerko is going to serve as Chicago's DH against Oakland today while Jim Thome sits out, according to the Chicago Tribune. He will bat fourth in the lineup. Nick Swisher will cover first base, and Alexei Ramirez will cover center field.

Our View: Konerko only has eight hits over 39 at-bats, but he has scored eight runs (drew 10 walks) and generated 11 RBI. He should continue to rack up the runs and RBI while hitting in the dynamic Chicago lineup.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/14, 2:37 PM CT
Paul Konerko is on fire right now as he has registered eight hits over his last 12 at-bats with two homers, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He will look to continue his hot streak tonight against opposing hurler Greg Smith, who will be making his second career start for Oakland.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/13, 5:32 PM CT
Paul Konerko provided all the early offense for the White Sox on Sunday. He hit an RBI single in the first inning and added a grand slam in the third frame. Konerko finished the day 2-for-4 with five RBI.

Our View: Konerko had a rough 2007, but there's no reason to think he's on the way down quite yet. He should be a lock for 30 homers, 100 RBI, and 85 runs if he stays healthy.
Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/12, 2:06 PM CT
Paul Konerko was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Sox first baseman is suffering from a sore right toe. In addition to an interest in Texas' Mark Teixeira, the Angels are also interested in White Sox slugger Paul Konerko. Konerko, who turned down a five-year, $62-million free-agent offer from the Angels after 2005 to remain in Chicago, has a limited no-trade clause but would probably waive it if he were dealt to Anaheim, according to the LA Times. It's not clear whether the Sox will try and move Konerko or Jermaine Dye, but they are unlikely to move both.
