Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 3/9, 6:24 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was ineffective in three innings of Cactus League action against the Cubs on Tuesday, allowing five hits, three runs and a homer.

Our View: Soup's chances of making the rotation in Milwaukee this season are looking slim, and he should be avoided in even NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 10/2, 6:13 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Jeff Suppan should pitch Sunday's season finale for the Brewers.

Our View: Suppan would be making his 30th start, but is expected to be replaced by Chris Narveson early in the game. Suppan carries a poor 5.30 ERA and 1.70 ERA.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 9/30, 11:18 PM CT
Jeff Suppan got lip up once again on Wednesday, allowing eight runs in six innings, as the Brewers lost 10-6 in Denver.

Our View: Things just didn't work out for Suppan in 2009. After 29 starts, he will end the season with a 7-12 record, 1.70 WHIP and 5.30 ERA.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 9/24, 11:02 PM CT
Jeff Suppan had another terrible outing on Thursday as the Brewers fell to the Phillies 9-4. Suppan lasted only 4.1 innings and allowed seven runs on 12 hits while walking two and striking out two.

Our View: Soup is ready to put 2009 behind him, as his 7-11 record and 5.04 ERA are far from what was expected of him this season. His best days might be behind him, and so are his days as a fantasy pitcher.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 9/19, 10:23 PM CT
Jeff Suppan had a nice outing on Saturday, holding the Astros to just two runs on five hits over seven innings in a 7-2 win. He fanned seven against zero walks and improved to 7-10 on the season.

Our View: This was clearly one of Soup's best outings on the season, but he's still too risky to start in fantasy formats. Games like this one don't come around too often.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 9/14, 10:05 PM CT
Jeff Suppan only issued one earned run on three hits over seven innings in Monday's 2-0 loss at Chicago. He had four walks with two strikeouts.

Our View: Suppan pitched well, but was forced to take a loss due to no run support. He allowed one or less earned runs in three of his last four starts, but only earned one win over the span.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 9/9, 3:51 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was victimized by his former team and World Series pals on Wednesday. Albert Pujols and the Cardinals touched him for four runs on eight hits and a walk over just five innings.

Our View: Soup fell to 6-9 after Wednesday's 5-1 loss and now holds a 5.05 ERA on the season. He's only mustered two quality starts since July 3rd and has become fantasy irrelevant outside of the deepest leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/4, 10:54 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed only two unearned runs on Friday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Brewers fell to the Giants 3-2. Suppan pitched 5.2 innings and allowed two hits while walking four and striking out three.

Our View: Soup was actually very good tonight, but his defense and his bullpen let him down. Overall, he has struggled significantly this season, and even a few good starts in a row won't make him a good fantasy performer.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 8/30, 5:38 PM CT
Jeff Suppan had a nice bounce back outing on Sunday. He held the Pirates to just one run on eight hits and three walks over six innings and earned his sixth win of the season.

Our View: Soup has been a disappointment this season, the usually durable and reliable starter has spent time on the DL and has just six wins and 5.20 ERA on the season. He doesn't appear to be worth the big contract the Brewers handed him a couple seasons ago.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/25, 11:47 PM CT
Jeff Suppan made his return from the DL on Tuesday, and unfortunately he picked up right where he left off before the injury. Suppan went 4.1 innings and allowed four runs on nine hits while walking five and striking out one.

Our View: Soup has been terrible this season, and there is no reason to think he will be any better as the season wears down. His ERA has now climbed to 5.38, and fantasy owners should stay away down the stretch.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/25, 1:54 PM CT
As expected, Jeff Suppan has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and will start for the Brewers against the Reds tonight.

Our View: Suppan has an ugly 1.70 WHIP this season to go along with a bad 5.27 ERA - numbers that are tough to swallow even in NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/22, 5:48 PM CT
Accordng to the Twitter page of Brewers' beat writer Tom Haudricourt, starter Jeff Suppan is expected to come off the DL and pitch Tuesday against Cincinnati. Suppan has been on the DL with a strained left oblique.

Our View: Soup got rocked in his first rehab outing at Single-A Wisconsin, and he was not very good before he went on the DL. Anyone outside of NL-only leagues shouldn't bother with him, and even NL-only leaguers may want to think twice before picking him up or playing him.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/15, 8:15 PM CT
Jeff Suppan struggled in Saturday's rehab start with Single-A Wisconsin, as he allowed four runs on five hits in 3.1 innings, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: 31 of his 39 pitches landed for strikes, and Suppan may return to the Brewers' rotation during their August 21-24 series in Washington, but skipper Ken Macha noted that is not set in stone following tonight's poor showing.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/11, 2:07 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Brewers' starter Jeff Suppan could go out on a rehab assignment sometime next week. Suppan has been on the DL since July 30 with a strained left oblique.

Our View: Suppan's recovery is moving slowly, and he might not be back with the team until closer to September. The Brewers are in desperate need of starting pitching right now, so the sooner Soup comes back, the better.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/30, 5:43 PM CT
Jeff Suppan has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left oblique, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: With Suppan out, the Brewers will need a starting pitcher for Saturday's game at San Diego.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/28, 7:18 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that Brewers' starter Jeff Suppan will be examined by a doctor after experiencing some soreness in his left side. Suppan was lit up in his start Monday for 10 runs over 5.1 innings.

Our View: Soup didn't look like himself last night, and although he hasn't been great this season, he isn't as bad as he showed last night. We will keep you updated on the results of his visit, but it looks likely that he could miss some time.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/27, 10:32 PM CT
Jeff Suppan has been lit up for 10 earned runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings in Monday's 14-6 loss to the Nationals at Miller Park.

Our View: Suppan falls to 5-8, and is winless over his last eight starts. He is only worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues for his next trip to the mound.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/22, 3:16 PM CT
It only took four home runs over 3.1 innings for Jeff Suppan to get the hook on Wednesday. The veteran starter allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks, but did not factor in the decision as the Brewers fell 8-7 to the Pirates in walk-off fashion.

Our View: Soup has yet to record a sub-4.00 ERA in any month this season. His best effort came in June when he was 2-2 with a 4.28 mark. You figure with that Brewers' offense behind him he'd hold a better record than 5-7. He's a fantasy risk in any format at this point.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/17, 10:56 PM CT
Jeff Suppan didn't get any run support on Friday as the Brewers fell to the Reds 4-0. Suppan went six innings and allowed three runs, no earned, on seven hits while walking four and striking out two. He is now 5-7 on the season.

Our View: Soup didn't get any help from his offense or defense tonight, and thus he takes the loss. He was pretty good tonight, but overall he hasn't been this season. He should probably only be owned in NL-only leagues, as his mixed league value is not good right now.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/8, 11:07 PM CT
Jeff Suppan scratched and clawed through 5.2 innings on Wednesday, departing with the game tied 4-4. He took a no-decision as the Brewers eked out a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals.

Our View: Soup has long been a "gamer" so-to-speak, but no longer has any fantasy value outside of an emergency spot start.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/3, 5:41 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was denied a win on Friday despite a strong performance. He held the Cubs to one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings, but the Brewers eventually fell in the tenth.

Our View: Friday's start was a nice rebound for Soup, who had allowed 12 runs in his last 10.2 innings. Still his start was against the anemic Cubs' offense, so don't get too excited yet.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/28, 6:52 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was not good again on Sunday as the Brewers fell to the Giants 7-0. Suppan allowed five runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out three. He is 5-6 on the year.

Our View: Soup has not been very good this season, and his fantasy value is steadily slipping. He is a risky play in mixed leagues at this point, but he could still be a player in NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 6/23, 10:48 PM CT
Jeff Suppan wasn't sharp on Tuesday, allowing seven runs (four earned) in five innings as the Brewers lost 7-3 to the Twins.

Our View: Soup is now 5-5 on the season, and certainly no longer an everyday roster option. He could hurl a gem if the matchup is right, but should be started with the utmost caution.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 6/12, 10:43 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed two earned runs on nine hits over 6.2 innings in Friday's 7-2 win over the White Sox at Miller Park. He had no walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: Suppan is pitching well as he won back-to-back starts, and has allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last three. He is worth employing in NL-only leagues in his next trip to the mound.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 6/6, 9:41 PM CT
Jeff Suppan evened up his record at 4-4 with his 3-0 win over the Braves on Saturday. Suppan went 5.1 innings and did not allow a run on six hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Nice performance by Soup tonight, and he now has four wins on the year. He doesn't strike many guys out, but he can be a decent starter when he pitches like he did tonight. He is probably not a mixed league candidate, but he is serviceable in NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 6/1, 10:07 PM CT
Jeff Suppan took a no-decision as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits over five innings in Monday's 7-4 loss at Florida. He had three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: This was one of Suppan's better outings of the season. He has now gone three straight starts without registering a win.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 5/26, 11:04 PM CT
Jeff Suppan got blasted by his former team on Tuesday, as he allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk before being pulled in the fourth inning. He took the loss and fell to 3-4 on the season as the Brewers got stomped by the Cardinals 8-1.

Our View: Soup has been brilliant against his former team in the past, but he was exploited in this start. His ERA ballooned to 5.23 and he is a risky start even in NL-only leagues right now.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/16, 3:05 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was phenomenal against his old team on Saturday. The former Cardinal tossed seven shutout innings scattering six hits and two walks and earned his third victory of the season in a 1-0 win.

Our View: Soup lowered his ERA to 4.63 after this affair and put a cap on his dominance of the Cardinals since signing a big free agent contract with the Brewers in 2007. He is now 5-0 with an ERA under 2.00 in six starts against the Redbirds since he helped them win a World Championship in 2006.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 5/5, 10:51 PM CT
Jeff Suppan wasn't great on Tuesday, but he was good enough to get the win. He allowed three runs on five hits and three walks in 5.2 innings as the Brewers topped the Pirates 8-5.

Our View: Soup hasn't been very good this season, which is always evidenced by a start like Tuesday's actually lowering your ERA. Still he's 2-2 on the year and could get a decent amount of wins in '09 if the Brewers' offense steps up.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/19, 4:10 PM CT
Jeff Suppan had his best start of the season as the Brewers beat the Mets 4-2 on Sunday. He lasted six innings and gave up eight hits, a walk, and two earned runs while taking home his first win of the season.

Our View: The veteran got an extra day of rest this time through the rotation, and that may have played a part in his performance. He was awful in his first two starts, but was able to limit the damage against the Mets today. He is still far more likely to hurt fantasy teams rather than help them.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/14, 6:26 PM CT
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jeff Suppan's scheduled start has been pushed back from Saturday to Sunday.

Our View: The Brewers want Soup to get another day to pitch a side session, so Yovani Gallardo will pitch Saturday in his place. Suppan isn't injured, he's just struggling with his delivery, and control, and ERA, and well, you get it.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/12, 10:57 PM CT
Jeff Suppan walked six hitters and gave up two hits, half of which were home runs, while surrendering five earned runs in 3.2 innings of work in the Brewers' 8-5 loss to the Cubs on Sunday. It marked his second loss of the season.

Our View: Suppan did not hold much fantasy value heading into the season, but now it just looks like he holds negative value to the Brewers as well. If he continues to pitch as poorly as he has in his first two outings, the team may be looking for a replacement soon.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/7, 7:15 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed six runs and six hits in four innings on Tuesday as the Brewers fell 10-6 at San Francisco.

Our View: This surely won't be the last time Suppan gets rocked like this. In order to win, he needs to be pinpoint accurate with his pitches to compensate for below-average velocity. He obviously was very hittable today.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 4/2, 6:36 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed only one run on three hits in five innings Thursday against the White Sox.

Our View: Suppan was a modest 10-10 with a 4.96 ERA in Milwaukee last season. With no CC Sabathia in the rotation or Ben Sheets in Milwaukee in 2009, Suppan will have step up his game to make the Brewers contenders in the NL Central.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 3/23, 2:14 PM CT
Jeff Suppan is expected to be the Brewers' starting pitcher for opening day April 7, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: The way the rotation is set up, Suppan, Yovani Gallardo and Manny Parra will start the first three games of the season in San Francisco. Suppan is worth a look in NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 3/17, 8:26 PM CT
Jeff Suppan finally got the good start he was looking for this spring. He held the Giants to one hit over five scoreless innings Tuesday and did not walk a batter.

Our View: Soup needed this as he's been far from effective in any previous starts this spring. He's assured of making the Brewers' rotation, but should be avoided in fantasy drafts other than deep NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 3/12, 10:00 PM CT
Jeff Suppan got roughed up by San Diego on Thursday, allowing five runs off six hits and two walks while striking out two in three innings of work.

Our View: Suppan has not looked sharp yet this spring and has given up nine runs in 11 innings, including three home runs. He'll have to start picking things up before he can receive any attention from fantasy owners, even in NL-only leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 3/2, 5:45 PM CT
Jeff Suppan gave up a three-run home run to Emil Brown in Monday's 4-3 loss. He did not give up any more runs in his three innings of action, but did allow three hits and two walks.

Our View: Suppan gave up a Bobby Crosby dinger in his last spring appearance. He allowed 30 last season and all signs point to starting your fantasy hitters when facing Suppan this season. Avoid having to rely on the veteran's right arm in 2009.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 2/25, 6:32 PM CT
Jeff Suppan gave up three hits and a solo home run to Bobby Crosby as the Brewers tied the A's on Wednesday. He struck out one batter and walked none.

Our View: From July on last season, Suppan posted a 5.98 ERA, 2.2 HR/9 and 3.9 K/9. His best seasons are far behind him, and this season could get ugly if he continues to give up so many bombs.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 10/5, 3:50 PM CT
Jeff Suppan continued his struggles this season after allowing five runs on six hits to get the loss in Game 4 of the NLDS.

Our View: Suppan went 0-3 with an 8.44 ERA in September, so this poor start was not shocking. With CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets possibly leaving via free agency, the Brewers need Suppan to step up next season.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/26, 10:41 PM CT
Jeff Suppan issued one earned run on eight hits over five innings in Friday's 5-1 win over the Cubs, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Our View: He was dealt a no decision, so he closes out his season even at 10-10 over 31 starts. He did not register a win in September.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 9/20, 10:14 AM CT
Despite a string of poor performances, Milwaukee hurler Jeff Suppan claims that he is not injured, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “My arm feels fine. It’s really execution. It’s not effective,” he said.

Our View: Suppan has an ERA above 10.00, and has a record of 0-3 so far in September, contributing to the team's collapse.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/19, 7:33 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was only able to get through two innings on Friday night for the wild card contending Milwaukee Brewers. The Reds scored five runs off of him thanks to home runs by Jay Bruce and Joey Votto.

Our View: Pressure pitching is supposed to be Suppan's thing but he has been awful in September. Heading into Friday night's game, he was 0-2 in three September starts with a 8.79 ERA.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 9/14, 10:07 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was ripped for eight hits and six runs in 3.2 innings on Sunday night. Suppan struck out just one while walking four in his ninth loss of the year.

Our View: Over his last three starts, which just so happens to coincide with the Brewers struggles, Suppan owns an 0-2 mark with a horrid 8.79 ERA and a 2.16 WHIP. That is serious danger territory so be sure he is on your bench if he is still on your roster.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 9/4, 10:37 PM CT
Jeff Suppan lasted 5.1 innings on Thursday and the results were predictably average as he allowed five runs, four earned, in his eighth loss of the year.

Our View: This was actually Suppan's first loss in in six decisions during which time he lasted seven innings five times. Suppan is only advisable as an injury fill-in if you are in a mixed league or if you are in desperate need of picking up some wins.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/30, 9:32 PM CT
Jeff Suppan only allowed two earned runs on three hits over seven innings in Saturday's 11-3 win over the Pirates, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Suppan claimed his 10th win of the season, and finished August with a 5-0 mark. He is worthy of fantasy lineups in NL-only leagues heading into the final month of the regular season.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/12, 11:45 PM CT
Jeff Suppan threw eight solid innings, allowing two runs on four hits in Milwaukee's 5-2 win over the Padres.

Our View: Suppan has a victory in each of his last three starts, and carries a 2.05 ERA during that time. He's not fantasy worthy in mixed leagues, but his recent performances have made him a viable option in NL-only formats.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/6, 2:42 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Reds at the Great American Ballpark, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: He evens his record to 7-7 and has won back-to-back starts. He is pitching well right now, and is worth consideration in NL-only leagues if you need help at the position.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/1, 10:23 PM CT
Jeff Suppan hurled seven shutout innings against the Braves on Friday night to improve his record to 6-7 on the season.

Our View: Suppan walked three and struck out only one on the night, though he baffled the Braves with a series of off-speed pitches. He remains nothing more than a bottom tier fantasy option.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/22, 10:31 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings after being activated from the 15-day disabled list with joint irritation in his elbow

Our View: It was a decent return for Sup. On a team like Milwaukee, who has homered in 18 straight games, any pitcher that can keep the game close has to be monitored.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/22, 7:23 AM CT
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch indicates that Jeff Suppan is ready to be activated from the DL for tonight's start against the Cardinals, his former team. He has recovered from joint irritation in his right elbow.

Our View: Suppan will be a welcome addition back to the Brewers' rotation, but is not good enough to consider for fantasy lineups, as he held a 4.71 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 101.1 innings this season, with only 55 strikeouts.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/13, 9:36 AM CT
Jeff Suppan is progressing nicely and will be back in the rotation when he is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on July 22, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Suppan is scheduled to face the Cardinals on that day, and he is expected to make that start. For the season, Suppan does not have numbers strong enough to be considered a viable option on fantasy teams.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/7, 4:36 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to a joint irritation of the right elbow, this according to The Indy Channel. The move is more likely a maneuver to make room on the roster for newly acquired southpaw C.C. Sabathia.

Our View: Suppan appears to be the odd man out of the Brewers rotation. The right-handed veteran allowed six runs in just three innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Sunday. Suppan sports a 5-6 record with a 4.71 earned run average in 18 starts this season.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 6/20, 10:51 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was brutal on Friday night as he allowed six runs, three of which were earned, while recording just five outs to fall to 4-5 on the year.

Our View: Soft tossers like Suppan regularly get beat around the yard when they don't have their control, and that was obvious from the start tonight. Still, he is sporting a 3.97 ERA, though a better measure of his value is his 1.23 K/BB ratio and WHIP north of 1.50.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 6/14, 10:06 PM CT
Milwaukee RHP Jeff Suppan was strong with the arm this evening but the relief pitching let it all go, falling 9-4 to the Minnesota Twins. Suppan pitched seven innings with two earned runs allowed on seven hits, surrendering just one walk and five strikeouts.

Our View: Suppan walked with no decision, voiding an effort to get an official win streak going (sporting two wins over his last three starts with a no-decision sandwiched in between).
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/28, 9:51 PM CT
Milwaukee RHP Jeff Suppan improved to 3-4 this evening as his Brewers found a way to score one run while Suppan let his arm carry the rest of the load. Suppan pitched eight innings, allowing no runs on four hits with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Suppan has suffered consecutive losses leading into this one, but tonight's performance was his deepest this season and brings the hurler to 13 walks versus 31 strikeouts.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/17, 7:50 PM CT
Jeff Suppan gave up four runs on nine hits in six innings, and lost for the third time in four starts as the Boston Red Sox beat the Brewers 5-3 on Saturday. The Brewers have lost three straight overall.

Our View: Suppan struggled from the start. After retiring the first two batters in the first, Suppan walked Ortiz, hit Ramirez on the left hand and allowed Kevin Youkilis' single. J.D. Drew then walked to give Boston a 1-0 lead. The Brewers right hander threw 31 pitches in the first inning.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/11, 4:50 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed one run on six hits, walked five and struck out four to pick up the first win for a Milwaukee starter other than Ben Sheets since Manny Parra beat San Francisco on April 5.

Our View: Suppan was as good as he will be on Sunday, and the performance wasn't surprising considering he has a history of being effective against his old team.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/30, 11:15 PM CT
Jeff Suppan was battered on Wednesday night to the tune of 11 runs, eight earned, by the Cubs as he saw his ERA go from 3.48 to 5.19.

Our View: The worst thing that can happen to a fantasy squad in most cases is to count on mediocre pitchers because inevitably they lay an egg like this that simply dusts your ratios. Suppan is servicable in NL Only leagues, but stay far away from him in mixed leagues.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/8, 1:46 PM CT
Jeff Suppan is aiming for a 2-0 start as he battles the Reds at home on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. Suppan held the Cubs to two runs on six hits in his first win of the season, and notably went 9-3 last season with a 3.87 ERA at Miller Park. He will square off against rookie phenom Johnny Cueto, who racked up 10 strikeouts in his first outing. This should be a great battle today.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/2, 5:05 PM CT
Jeff Suppan won his first game of the season by allowing only two runs in 6.1 innings against the Cubs on Wednesday. Suppan, who allowed eight base runners while striking out only two batters, figures to be a back of the rotation filler in mixed leagues as he should provide double digit wins, though his ratios and strikeout totals could well be below below the league average for a starting pitcher.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/23, 11:13 AM CT
Jeff Suppan will pitch second behind Ben Sheets at the beginning of the season, according to SI.com. Manager Yost stated that he does not yet know how the rest of the rotation will be set. Suppan is having a rough spring with a 11.37 ERA over 12.2 innings, so hopefully he can turn it around before the regular season starts.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 3/13, 6:59 PM CT
Jeff Suppan had a tough day on the bump as he allowed six runs on seven hits over three innings of work, with three walks and one strikeout. He continues to have a tough spring and looks to remain a weak link in the middle of their rotation.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/20, 10:45 AM CT
The Brewers have shifted their scheduled rotation a bit. Jeff Suppan will start on Friday against the Royals, and Dave Bush will be pushed back to Saturday, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 12/24, 6:24 PM CT
Jeff Suppan has reached a preliminary agreement with the Brewers on a four-year deal that would pay him $42 million, according to the AP. The contract won't be finalized until Suppan passes a physical. "He gives us a big-game pitcher. He's shown that last year," Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 12/21, 4:13 PM CT
The Brewers have formally made a four-year offer to free agent Jeff Suppan, according to the AP. Suppan is not expected to sign a contract until after Barry Zito signs, as that transaction could boost his value.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 12/20, 10:05 PM CT
Mets officials met with free agent Jeff Suppan Wednesday, according to the AP. It is not known if the Mets offered Suppan a contract. The reigning NLCS MVP, Suppan has drawn interest from many teams, including Colorado, Houston, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and Kansas City.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/19, 11:35 AM CT
Brewers GM Doug Melvin is still deciding whether or not to offer a specific contract offer to free agent pitcher Jeff Suppan, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I'd say it's a possibility," said Melvin. "I haven't done anything yet. We're still discussing it and looking into it." Suppan supposedly has a four-year offer on the table from one of the following teams: New York Mets, Colorado, Houston, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and Kansas City.

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said Thursday that he will put together a proposal to Seth Leventhal, the agent for free agent Jeff Suppan, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's still a productive pitcher, and he's a durable guy," Melvin said. "He has won 44 games the past three seasons. He has a good work ethic and he has pitched in some big games. He'd be a good influence on our other pitchers." Other rumored suitors of Suppan include the Giants, Mets, Rockies, Pirates, Royals and Cardinals.

Jeff Suppan's agent said that the Cardinals seem uninterested in bringing the pitcher back, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "The Cardinals appear to be exhausting every other resource imaginable for starting pitching to not jump into the fray for Soup," said Suppan's agent, Scott Leventhal. "The writing is on the wall. Based on that, we don't consider St. Louis one of the markets we're looking at. We've set our sights elsewhere. We haven't counted them out entirely. We have not closed the door. But realistically speaking, it seems they've set their sights on every other thing." The Pirates and Royals have shown interest in the veteran right-hander.

Although Jeff Suppan was offered arbitration by the Cardinals yesterday, but he's not expected to accept the offer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He likely will be able to swing a free agent contract approaching $10 million. "I'd love to have Suppan back for a one-year deal," GM Walt Jocketty quipped. "But I don't expect that to happen."
