Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 9/8, 9:51 AM CT
Andruw Jones has been activated off the DL by the Rangers, according to ESPN. Jones missed time while recovering from a torn hamstring.

Our View: This move has been planned for awhile, and Jones is expected to play in the team's doubleheader tonight. With Josh Hamilton out for another couple of days, expect Jones to be in the lineup regularly.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 9/7, 9:17 PM CT
Andruw Jones is slated to come off the DL Tuesday, according to the Star-Telegram. He has been recovering from a torn hamstring.

Our View: Jones is expected to return to the starting lineup immediately against the Indians and opposing lefty Aaron Laffey. They will play a doubleheader, as Monday's battle was postponed due to rain.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 8/25, 4:25 PM CT
Andruw Jones has been placed on the 15-day DL with a torn hamstring, according to MLBblogs.com. Chris Davis was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City as the adjoining move.

Our View: Jones holds a dismal .217 batting average, but launched 17 homers for fantasy owners. He needs 12 more homers for the 400th of his career, and his quest will be slowed while on the shelf.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 7/29, 11:03 PM CT
Andruw Jones went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 13-5 loss to the Tigers at Rangers Ballpark. He hit a pair of solo homers.

Our View: Jones crushed 17 homers, with eight coming in July. He should remain a good source for power, if fantasy owners can deal with his poor .235 batting average.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 7/9, 12:05 AM CT
Andruw Jones continued his 2009 resurgence by cracking three home runs on Wednesday night. All three were launched off struggling Angels' starter Ervin Santana. He finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBI.

Our View: Jones went from one of the biggest fantasy busts in the last decade (not to mention one of the worst signings in history) to a productive bat in Texas in 2009. He now has 14 homers on the season and has an outside chance of hitting 30 this year. He's only hitting .250, but if you need power, he's a decent option.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 7/4, 10:10 PM CT
Andruw Jones went 2-for-5 went a home run and four RBIs, his most since September 21, 2006, on Saturday, as the Rangers blew out the Rays 12-4.

Our View: Jones now has ten home runs in 2009 after only having three in all of 2008. He is still batting a mediocre .245, and has just 27 RBIs, but the turnaround is notable nonetheless.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 6/21, 7:33 PM CT
Andruw Jones went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Barry Zito in Sunday's 3-2 loss at San Francisco.

Our View: Jones is enjoying a power surge, as he collected his third homer over his last seven games. He only hit two total homers in May.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 6/14, 10:24 PM CT
Andruw Jones launched another homer on Sunday in the Rangers' 6-3 loss to the Dodgers. Jones was 2-for-4 on the day with a run scored and an RBI.

Our View: Jones' homer was his second in as many days, and he now has seven on the year. His fantasy value is still fairly low, but if the power could show up consistently he could be worth a look.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 6/13, 11:32 PM CT
Andruw Jones went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and recorded the Rangers' lone RBI in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Dodgers at home.

Our View: Jones collected his first homer of June, and his sixth of the season - with five coming at Rangers Ballpark.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 5/30, 5:05 PM CT
Andruw Jones is penciled into tonight's lineup in left field against Oakland, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Jones is hitting .387 with seven homers over 31 career at-bats against the Athletics, and is worth consideration for fantasy lineups, especially against opposing starter Brett Anderson (2-4, 4.98 ERA).
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 5/29, 7:10 PM CT
Andruw Jones went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the first game of Friday's doubleheader with the A's. The Rangers won the game 6-3.

Our View: Jones doesn't play regularly, but has been surprisingly effective when he's in the lineup. He is hitting .303 with five homers and 14 RBI and has become an option in AL-only leagues.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 5/22, 5:47 PM CT
Manager Ron Washington is giving Andruw Jones his first career start at first base in Friday's game in Houston, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Jones has hit right-handers regularly this season and Washington apparently wanted his bat in the lineup more so than Chris Davis or Hank Blalock.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 4/30, 4:31 PM CT
Andruw Jones started in left field and hit cleanup for the Rangers in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Oakland. He went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks, and a strikeout.

Our View: Jones is hitting .344/.523/.781 to start the season, but those numbers have fallen since Josh Hamilton's strained rib cage opened up regular playing time. We love the fact that he's drawing walks and showing some power, but he has struck out 10 times in 32 at bats indicating that his problems at the plate have not completely vanished.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 4/28, 1:24 PM CT
The Dallas Morning News expects Andruw Jones to serve as the DH tonight against the Athletics at Rangers Ballpark.

Our View: Jones holds a .391 average over 23 career at-bats against Oakland, with five homers and eight RBI. He is worth consideration if you have him on your roster.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 4/25, 9:15 PM CT
Andruw Jones was 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, and a strikeout in Saturday's 6-5 win over Baltimore.

Our View: Jones has been used sparingly but effectively by the Rangers to start the season. He has appeared in only seven games (he started and hit fourth as the DH tonight) but has 10 runs, five RBI, five walks, four doubles, and two home runs to show for it. Due to his in-and-out status he's too risky to own right now. However, an injury could possibly open up an everyday job for him.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 4/22, 8:54 PM CT
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Andruw Jones left the game Wednesday night with an apparent leg injury. He was hurt legging out an infield single in the eighth inning.

Our View: We will keep you posted on the severity of this injury. Jones has had an impressive start to the season in limited work, so this could potentially be very unfortunate for him.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 4/13, 10:48 PM CT
Andruw Jones served as the DH and hit cleanup in the Rangers' 10-9 loss to the Orioles on Monday. He went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks, a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

Our View: The Rangers have five outfielders hitting pretty good to start the season. Jones' playing time does not figure to come with any consistency, but they may try to ride this hot streak. He has started the season 5-of-8.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 4/9, 9:43 AM CT
Andruw Jones could make his season debut with the Rangers today against the Indians, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View: He is expected to bat fourth in the DH role, but Jones has a dismal .059 average over 17 career at-bats against Cleveland.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 4/2, 12:30 PM CT
Andruw Jones has made the Rangers as a fifth outfielder, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: Jones could see time as a right-handed DH, and is worth consideration as a flier for AL-only leagues in case he earns more playing time in the outfield. He is 29 homers away from 400 for his career.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 4/1, 1:47 PM CT
The Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers do indeed plan to keep Andruw Jones on their major league roster. As a result they will try to trade or release Frank Catalanotto.

Our View: Jones managed to strike out 76 times in 209 at-bats a season ago so the fact that any team wants him around is a tribute to him. The fact that Catalanotto is being sacraficed for his spot is too bad, as Jones figures to be nothing but the anchor at the end of the Rangers bench.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 4/1, 9:20 AM CT
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Reds and Phillies have indicated some interest in Andruw Jones. Jones can opt out of his minor league contract with the Rangers at any time. Rangers manager Ron Washington would prefer to keep Jones, according to the report.

Our View: The Rangers also have Marlon Byrd and Frank Catalanotto hoping to land roster spots as reserve outfielders, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. The Rangers would likely be willing to move some hitters in exchange for help in the rotation or bullpen.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 3/30, 8:02 PM CT
Andruw Jones played all nine innings in centerfield on Monday as the Rangers defeated the Giants 7-5. He finished the game 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, an RBI and a strikeout.

Our View: Jones is hanging around and he has raised his spring batting average to .288. The Rangers figure to go with David Murphy, Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz in the outfield, but with Marlon Byrd and Jones looking for at-bats, a platoon situation could develop.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 3/19, 4:36 PM CT
Andruw Jones has until Friday to decide whether or not to opt out of his contract with the Rangers, according to MLB.com. The team figures to send him to Triple-A if he decides to remain with them.

Our View: He is hitting .258 this spring with a home run, two doubles, and two RBI. However, the Rangers already have a strong outfield with Josh Hamilton, David Murphy, Marlon Byrd, and Nelson Cruz. If Jones does opt out, he would probably have a difficult time finding another team interested in his bat. He had 76 strikeouts in 209 at-bats last season, while batting only .158.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 3/18, 7:06 AM CT
Andruw Jones is unlikely to make the Rangers out of spring training, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Jones does not have a shot to start, and Marlon Byrd is believed to be ahead of him for the No. 4 spot among outfielders. It is uncertain if Jones would report to Triple-A if he does not make the club.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 3/13, 10:42 AM CT
Andruw Jones can opt out of his minor league deal with Texas if he isn't on the big league roster by Friday, March 20th, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Jones was an unbelievably miserable signing for the Dodgers, but he appears to be in shape and has a fresh start in Texas. He'll have to beat out Frank Catalanotto for the job, but he has an outside chance of making the team. Even if Jones hits 10 homers this spring, he's still very avoidable.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 3/10, 5:37 PM CT
Bill Plaschke, of the Los Angeles Times, writes that outfielder Andruw Jones, now with the Texas Rangers, apologized for his lackluster performance and obvious resistance to commitment while with the Dodgers. "I am sorry I didn't stand up to my reputation," Jones said. "I am sorry for what I put everyone through. I am sorry I did not make it work."

Our View: In the first year of a $36 million contract with the Dodgers, Jones hit just three home runs with 14 RBI in 2008 while sporting around an extra 25 pounds that drew the ire of both team management and fans. Now with Texas, the considerably lighter Jones is earning just $500,000 as part of a minor-league deal, but he is still getting paid a full $22 million from Los Angeles.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 3/9, 8:25 PM CT
Andruw Jones homered for the Rangers on Monday against the Dodgers in a Cactus League game.

Our View: Jones is batting .280 so far this spring and is giving himself a decent shot to make the club. We don't know if he'll be able to get back to where he was, but weirder things have happened. Just look at Fernando Tatis.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 2/27, 6:03 PM CT
Andruw Jones made his debut for the Rangers in their 10-4 loss to the Cubs on Friday, according to the AP. He struck out three times before "getting a gift single on a slow roller."

Our View: Jones is signed to a minor-league deal, and more performances like this could get him released. The Rangers have depth in the outfield without him.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 2/17, 11:15 AM CT
Andruw Jones has reported to spring training with the Rangers, according to the Star-Telegram. Jones has lost 20 pounds and noted that his right knee feels healthier and stronger following surgery last May. He added, "I think I might be in better shape than I was in 2005 (when he crushed 51 homers)."

Our View: Michael Young believes Jones will make the opening day roster, and also boldly predicts him to have a monster year. If Jones does not win a top reserve role in the outfield, he could provide a right-handed DH option. As of now, Jones should be targeted as a flier for AL-only leagues.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 2/16, 7:55 AM CT
Richard Durrett of the Dallas Morning News believes Andruw Jones will make the Rangers' opening day roster. The Rangers should start Josh Hamilton in center, Nelson Cruz in right with a platoon of Marlon Byrd and David Murphy in left. Jones would be competing with Frank Catalanotto for a reserve role in the outfield.

Our View: Jones could spell Hamilton in center and provide a right-handed DH option if he makes the club. Jones is still viewed as a longshot though, and should only be targeted as a flier for AL-only leagues.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 2/11, 7:59 AM CT
Joel Sherman of the New York Post has details of the contract Andruw Jones signed with the Rangers. Jones can make $200,000 if voted Comeback Player of the Year, $75,000 for 340 and then 380 plate appearances; $125,000 for 420, 460, 500, and 540 plate appearances; and $175,000 for 580 and 620 plate appearances.

Our View: There are also incentives in the deal that are somewhat laughable considering his recent play - $100,000 for taking home the MVP award, $50,000 for being a World Series MVP or an All-Star, and $25,000 for winning the League Championship Series MVP, a Gold Glove or a Silver Slugger.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 2/8, 2:22 PM CT
As expected, Andruw Jones has agreed to a minor league deal with the Rangers, according to MLB.com. The contract is worth $500,000 with a chance for him to earn $1 million in incentives if he reaches 620 plate appearances. Manager Ron Washington said, "He has certainly been a superstar for quite a few years. These past few years have been down for him, but I like the fact that he brings 10 Gold Gloves, he is a winner and he fits well into our clubhouse. He has something to prove. We have got him in camp now, we will see where he goes from here."

Our View: The Rangers outfield will be crowded with David Murphy in left, Josh Hamilton in center and Nelson Cruz in right, with Marlon Byrd able to play all three as a reserve. Frank Catalanotto is still on the roster as well, meaning Jones will be hard-pressed to earn a starting gig, barring injuries.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 2/8, 10:57 AM CT
The Rangers are going to sign Andruw Jones to a minor league deal worth $500,000, according to the NY Post. He will have a chance to rake in $1 million in incentives.

Our View: The Rangers risk looks to be low, as they already have Josh Hamilton, David Murphy, Nelson Cruz, Frank Catalanotto and Marlon Byrd to rely on in their outfield. With that said, Jones' chances of earning a starting role seem slim.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 2/7, 3:30 PM CT
Yahoo! Sports reports that outfielder Andruw Jones is close to signing a minor-league contract with the Texas Rangers.

Our View: After scoffing at the Yankees' non-roster invite to Spring Training, Jones appears content with working his way onto the Rangers, where he will likely be responsible for spelling star outfielder Josh Hamilton, who admitted to wearing down last season.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 2/6, 1:42 PM CT
The Rangers worked out Andruw Jones but do not see a spot for him in their crowded outfield right now, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Phillies and Mets are also believed to have some interest in Jones. Jones will be looking to bounce back from a nightmarish 2008 campaign in which he batted a dismal .158 with the Dodgers.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 2/5, 1:35 PM CT
Andruw Jones has reportedly turned down a minor league deal with the Yankees, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Yankees would not be a good fit for Jones, as their outfield is very crowded and their fans would not make his bid at a comeback easy. The Phillies, Mets and Rangers are also believed to be interested in Jones, with Texas seemingly the best fit.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 2/4, 8:14 PM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated believes that the Rangers could be a fit for Andruw Jones.

Our View: The Rangers certainly have one of the better hitter parks in the league and have plans on moving Josh Hamilton to center field, which would allow the sluggish Jones to play a corner outfield spot. Milton Bradley leaving for Chicago has also opened up the DH spot on the Texas roster, which could be another spot for Jones.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 1/29, 6:58 PM CT
Andruw Jones returning to the Braves is doubtful, according to Atlanta's official site. Jones' agent Scott Boras said that his client has no interest in a minor league deal.

Our View: The Braves have about $6-7 million left to spend on an outfielder. The Braves would also need to make room for Jones on the 40-man roster, so this move just doesn't make much sense for them.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 1/24, 8:52 AM CT
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves still have interest in signing outfielder Andruw Jones.

Our View: The Braves likely wouldn't have to dish out a lot of cash for Jones, who still has over $25 million coming to him from the Dodgers, so they may take a gamble that returning to familiar surroundings would help him get back to what he once was.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 1/22, 3:39 PM CT
The Atlanta Braves have invited 16 players to spring training but Andruw Jones was not among them. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jones will probably not sign with anyone until late next week.

Our View: It will be interesting to see if Jones can get into playing shape and get any team to bite on a player who hit .158 with three homers last season.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 1/17, 4:59 PM CT
According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, as many as eight teams have expressed interest in outfielder Andruw Jones, who was released by the Dodgers Thursday. Jones' agent, Scott Boras, would not specify the names of those teams, but it is believed the Marlins and Braves are on the list. Jones has openly stated his wishes to return to Atlanta.

Our View: The Braves have said they would sign Jones to a minor-league deal, but would not take the chance inking him to a major-league contract. The chatter surrounding Jones seems to have increased now that the Dodgers have agreed to pay the remaining amount of the fallen star's $32 million contract.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 1/16, 8:12 PM CT
The Marlins are discussing Andruw Jones one day after he was officially given his release by the Dodgers, according to South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He could potentially be signed for the league minimum, $400,000.

Our View: Jones could be worth the risk for the Marlins if he could get into decent shape. However, it's difficult to know if that's a possibility as that's why the Dodgers cut him in the first place.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 1/15, 8:23 PM CT
The AP reports that the Dodgers officially released Andruw Jones on Thursday. He was due over $20 million dollars this season but the Dodgers will be allowed to pay that amount over six seasons if he signs with another team.

Our View: Jones was a five-time All-Star with 10 straight Gold Gloves when he signed with L.A. last season. However, by the time he arrived he was well overweight, couldn't hit to save his life, and required knee surgery by May. He hit just .158 last season and struckout 76 times in 209 at-bats.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 1/14, 8:21 PM CT
MLB.com reports that the Dodgers are likely to release outfielder Andruw Jones on Thursday. The Dodgers recently restructured his deal so that they can pay out the remaining $21.1 million of his salary over the next six years, should he play elsewhere in 2009.

Our View: The Dodgers had held recent trade discussions, but they appear to be ready to cut-bait with the former All-Star. There figures to be a number of teams interested in the center fielder at the right price.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 1/6, 12:54 PM CT
GM Walt Jocketty noted that the Reds had internal discussions regarding Andruw Jones, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: Jocketty needs to gather more information on Jones, and the GM is yet to talk to the Dodgers.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 1/5, 9:51 AM CT
David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Dodgers outfielder Andruw Jones will be a free agent on Jan. 15, assuming he is not traded by then, which is a safe bet. Though agent Scott Boras has worked to alleviate the financial strain of Jones' contract, which figures to pay him only $5 million in 2009 rather than $21.1 million, teams are wary of signing the former All-Star, who went through a horrific season a year ago and is recovering from knee surgery.

Our View: O'Brien suggests the Braves shouldn't mortgage even a shred of the organization's future to obtain Jones, but he does think signing him to a possible minor-league deal worth roughly $1 million would be the way to go.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 1/4, 10:50 AM CT
Andruw Jones' career could be in jeopardy, according to Buster Olney of ESPN. He reports that the Mets aren't interested in acquiring Jones and doesn't believe that the Reds are a good fit.

Our View: The Dodgers restructured Jones' contract so that he will only be owed $5 million for the 2009 season with the other $10 million over the five following years. Paying an overweight outfielder to strike out a lot isn't a priority for most teams, so it's difficult to see him getting moved unless it's in exchange for another bad contract.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 1/3, 11:20 AM CT
Yahoo! Sports reporter Tim Brown speculates that Andruw Jones could land in Washington next season.

Our View: The Nationals have been trying to get a big-name player to Washington, but have been ultimately rebuffed, in no small part because of how awful they are.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 1/3, 8:54 AM CT
The Dodgers will either trade or release Andruw Jones, as he agreed to defer money on his contract, according to the L.A. Times. The move will take $12 million off the Dodgers' payroll this season.

Our View: If the Dodgers cannot find any takers in a trade, the team will release him in spring training. It would seem hard to believe a team would be willing to trade for him when they could simply pick him up and pay just a small amount of money.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 1/1, 9:22 PM CT
The Dodgers are working on a plan that would allow them to part ways with outfielder Andruw Jones, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We can't confirm that and right now we don't have a comment," GM Ned Colletti said.

Our View: According to the report the team is trying to do something, likely a buy out, so that Jones remaining year on his contract would be cut down saving the club some $12 million. After hitting just .158 in 209 AB last year, a change of scenery could certainly be what Jones needs to resurrect his career.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 12/29, 7:48 PM CT
MLB.com reports that the Mets' interest in Andruw Jones is declining. The trade talks initially took place during the Winter Meetings, and more talks have not been scheduled.

Our View: It seems odd that we never heard these rumors back when the meetings were going on. Regardless, the Mets fleeting interest in Jones coincides well with his status in fantasy circles.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 12/29, 4:10 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that the Mets have some interest in acquiring Andruw Jones from the Dodgers. The 32-year-old has one more year left on his two-year, $36.2 million deal. If he were to land in New York, he would play right field and Carlos Beltran would return to center.

Our View: Jones was abysmal in his first season with the Dodgers. He posted only 209 at-bats, struck out 76 times, and hit only .158 with three home runs. He is currently playing in the Dominican Winter League. The Dodgers may have to take a bad contract back in return.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 12/26, 8:12 PM CT
Andruw Jones has enjoyed some success in the first few games of the Dominican Winter League, according to MLB.com. Over five games Jones is hitting just .188, but he has a .409 OBP thanks to six walks, though with eight strikeouts his eye at the plate could still use some work.

Our View: Jones has a long way to go to put behind him his abysmal 2008 campaign (.158-3-14), but he is confident with more consistent work at the plate that things will turn around. We wish we could say we were as confident.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 12/16, 11:13 AM CT
Andruw Jones commented on his future, according to the LA Times. Jones said, "After the next season I'll be a free agent again. I have to regain my confidence in the game, get the injury out of my mind and run like normal. That confidence is what I've come to look for with the Aguilas (Dominican League team)."

Our View: Jones batted an anemic .158 over his injury-spoiled 2008 campaign with the Dodgers, but it is encouraging news that he is looking forward to bouncing back in 2009, namely while motivated by a new contract.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 10/31, 9:04 AM CT
Andruw Jones said he would like to return to Atlanta and finish his career as a member of the Braves, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He commented, "I’ve got one more year in my contract. Hopefully, I can come back to Atlanta. I would love to finish my career here."

Our View: He failed to stay healthy in his first year with the Dodgers in 2008, hitting a dismal .158 over 75 games, with only three homers. He belted 288 homers from 2000-2007 with Atlanta.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 10/10, 8:48 AM CT
Dodgers center fielder Andruw Jones is not with the team as they make their run to the postseason, and will not stand for being a part-time player next year, according to the L.A. Times. "I'm an everyday guy or I need to move out," Jones remarked.

Our View: We're not sure if that's an ultimatum, but it's awfully arrogant of a guy who, in his last two seasons, has hit a combined .205 while striking out 214 times in 781 at-bats with Atlanta and the Dodgers.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 9/13, 6:56 PM CT
Andruw Jones has been placed on the 60-day DL, according to the AP. He has an injured right knee and indicated he is not feeling well enough to play. Takashi Saito has been activated from the 60-day DL as the corresponding move.

Our View: Jones was a grave disappointment in his first campaign with the Dodgers, and will not be missed by fantasy owners in the closing weeks of the season.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 9/10, 10:14 AM CT
Andruw Jones made his first start in center field for the Dodgers since August 8 for the Dodgers, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Not surprisingly, Jones went hitless in four at-bats with two strikeouts. If he is on your fantasy team, you are probably unfamiliar with how the game is played.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 9/1, 8:37 PM CT
Andruw Jones (knee) was activated from the DL on Monday, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: Jones went 6-for-23 on his rehab assignment not showing much more than he did with the Dodgers before he was shelved (.161 with three home runs in 205 AB). Given the precipitous nature of his fall from grace, and the play of the Dodgers currently outfielders, we doubt Jones will do anything more than occasional pinch hit and possibly be a late inning defensive replacement.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 8/24, 9:21 PM CT
Andruw Jones played first base on Saturday in his minor league rehab game and went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, according to MLB.com. Jones was at first in order to protect his knee from further strain.

Our View: Jones has been dealing with a sore knee for some time, though it's arguable if he's in the minors for his knee or to try and get his game together. Fantasy owners can continue to ignore him.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 8/20, 11:13 PM CT
Andruw Jones missed two games on his rehab assignment after he stepped into a hole on the field, leading to soreness in his knee, according to Dodgers.com.

Our View: We're not sure why the Dodgers Triple-A club has a hole in the field, but it's not surprising that Andruw Jones stepped in it considering the season he has had thus far.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 8/14, 11:26 PM CT
Andruw Jones will begin his rehab assignment on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: Jones has been out with a sore knee and, presumably, a bruised ego. He will try to rehab both while spending some time in the minor leagues.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 8/12, 8:42 PM CT
As speculated, Dodgers outfielder Andruw Jones has been put on the 15-day disabled list with an irritated patellar tendon in his right knee, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: Jones has been an unmitigated disaster this season, hitting an embarrassing .161 with three home run sin 205 at-bats. Nobody has him on a fantasy roster, so this move will not affect anybody that way.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 8/11, 11:24 PM CT
Andruw Jones could be headed to the DL to make room for the returning Nomar Garciaparra on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: Jones has an irritated patellar tendon in his right knee and could use the time on the DL to head down to the minor leagues to try and find the swing that, previous to the last two years, had him headed toward the Hall of Fame.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 8/10, 11:44 PM CT
The Dodgers are saying that Andruw Jones is day-to-day because of a tender right knee, according to Dodgers.com.

Our View: It could be his right knee that is keeping him out, or possibly his .161 average and .261 on-base percentage. Injured knee or not, his fantasy value disappeared many moons ago.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 8/3, 9:48 AM CT
As he continues to struggle through a horrific season, rumors are starting to leak from the Dodgers organization indicating the team may send outfielder Andruw Jones to the minors, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: The Dodgers signed Jones to a two-year, $36-million contract last winter, and now they have traded for another outfielder that is actually earning his money (Manny Ramirez). The rumors are likely put forth to motivate the troubled slugger, but for the Dodgers, it could make sense to give him time in the minors to see if he can find that old magic in his bat. Boosting his confidence could be the answer, but the team would be spending a ton of dough to do so. We'll keep you posted.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 7/31, 11:42 PM CT
Andruw Jones continued his embarrassing campaign, going 0-for-4 and striking out once in the Dodgers loss to Arizona.

Our View: Jones hit .159 for the month of July, and is now hitting .163 on the year. Clearly, fantasy owners don't have him on their team, and neither should the Dodgers.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 7/29, 1:38 PM CT
Andruw Jones came off the bench as a pinch hitter on Monday night to drive in his 13th RBI of the season in the Dodgers 7-6 loss to the Giants.

Our View: At this point the Dodgers are paying Jones almost $1.5 million per run batted in.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 7/20, 9:52 AM CT
Andruw Jones was out of Saturday's lineup due to stomach problems that forced him out in the fifth inning of Friday's game, according to the LA Times. He candidly said, "I've had to go to the bathroom quite a few times."

Our View: He should be back soon, but fantasy owners should not care, as he still only holds a .162 average, and has gone hitless in his last 10 at-bats. He has gone 16-straight games without a home run as well.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 7/6, 6:43 PM CT
After going 0-for-9 in his return from the DL, Andruw Jones finally got a hit on Sunday.

Our View: He got a single in the eigth and even managed to get to second on a wild pitch. Jones continues to disappoint and you should not expect a turnaround any time soon.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 7/4, 2:46 PM CT
Andruw Jones was activated off of the DL today, according to The Sports Network. He was hitting just .165 when he went on the DL with torn cartilage in his knee.

Our View: Jones has been in a two year slump and does not belong on fantasy rosters at this point. Until he starts hitting at least .200 with some power, don't even think of him as an option.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 7/3, 12:55 PM CT
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Andruw Jones will return two weeks early from a bum right knee and join the Dodgers on Friday.

Our View: This seems rather peculiar, but the Dodgers have had trouble scoring runs. Will Jones help? Our guess is no. Jones' production has been almost irrelevant over the past two seasons.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 6/30, 8:00 PM CT
According to the Dodgers' official website, before Andruw Jones underwent knee surgery on May 27, Dodgers manager Joe Torre took the gut-approach to who he would play in center field in Jones' place. Torre said Jones will take back his starting spot in center and Juan Pierre (if healthy) will stay in left field, leaving Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier for right field.

Our View: Torre said the right-field situation will not be a straight platoon between Kemp and Ethier, but more of a who has a hot bat. It looks like Kemp will again lose at-bats upon the return of Jones.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 6/29, 6:38 PM CT
Andruw Jones isn't expected back until after the All-Star break, but he knows where he'll be playing when he's ready. Manager Joe Torre informs MLB.com that Jones will regain his starting job in center field. Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier will form some sort of platoon in right field. Jones is out due to right knee surgery.

Our View: The Dodgers will likely look to trade Juan Pierre this July, as Kemp and Ethier both have a long-term future with the club. This outfield could frustrate fantasy owners when Andruw is ready.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 6/21, 8:43 AM CT
Andruw Jones reportedly looked very comfortable while taking batting practice before Friday's game, according to the LA Times.

Our View: It was the first time he took batting practice on the field since landing on the DL last month due to his knee injury. Manager Joe Torre estimates Jones could return to the diamond around the All-Star break.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 6/17, 6:22 PM CT
Andruw Jones, who is coming back from knee surgery, has been hitting at Dodger Stadium and reportedly looks better than he has at any point all season, according to the LA Daily News. There is no word yet on when Jones might begin a rehab assignment.

Our View: What, Jones looks better than he did earlier this year while he was hitting .165? Excuse us for not getting overly excited by this news. Jones needs to be ignored for fantasy purposes until he shows he can, in fact, still hit a bit.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 6/11, 8:52 AM CT
Andruw Jones took batting practice Tuesday, just two weeks after knee surgery, according to the LA Times. He is likely another two weeks away from a return.

Our View: Andruw is a little ahead of schedule and should be back before the break if all goes well.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 6/9, 9:05 AM CT
Andruw Jones is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a meniscus tear in his right knee, according to the LA Times. He has already started hitting in the batting cage, and feels like he can run, although the team doesn't want him to yet.

Our View: He has a good shot to return before the All-Star break, barring a regression in his recovery.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 6/3, 8:33 AM CT
Andruw Jones hopes to return to action before the All-Star break, according to the LA Times. He was relieved that doctors did not find any additional issues during his arthroscopic knee surgery last week, and he said, "When the doctors told me that, it was a good feeling. Because I've always had problems with my patellar tendon. It feels better. The pain that I had in the back, there's not much soreness in there anymore."

Our View: Jones has resumed throwing on Monday, and is already rehabbing his leg with weights. Matt Kemp will continue to roam center field while Jones is on the shelf.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 5/27, 6:13 PM CT
Andruw Jones underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee Tuesday, according to the AP. The procedure will sideline the outfielder 4-6 weeks. "They fixed what they thought they had to fix," manager Joe Torre said. "He'll start in the next day or so with the rehab that he's going to have to do."

Our View: Matt Kemp will continue to start in center in Jones' absence, while Juan Pierre will hold down left.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 5/24, 9:38 PM CT
Andruw Jones will have arthroscopic surgery to repair a tear of the medial meniscus in his right knee, according to the LA Daily News. The procedure will sideline him 4-6 weeks. The Dodgers placed Jones on the DL before Saturday's game. Terry Tiffee was recalled to replace him on the roster.

Our View: Jones' owners are likely thrilled to hear this news with the way the outfielder has been swinging the bat. Matt Kemp will continue to start in center field for LA, with Juan Pierre holding down left and Andre Ethier playing right.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 5/24, 9:22 AM CT
Andruw Jones still hasn't ruled out surgery to fix his injured knee, but he has been able to do agility drills the past couple of days and the swelling has gone down in his injured knee, according to the Los Angeles Times. "If [I] go play and it's really irritated and swells up again and gets . . . to where I can't play with it, we're just going to go ahead and shut it down and get it done," Jones said.

Our View: Jones will likely appear as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement this weekend with the goal of having him in the lineup full-time on Monday.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 5/22, 9:55 AM CT
Andruw Jones said that based on the way his ailing knee felt after two days of rest, he felt he could have played on Wednesday, according to the LA Times. Jones, who has torn cartilage and a cyst in his right knee, rode a stationary bicycle for around 10 minutes and spent time hitting off a tee. He rested for about 40 minutes and when he didn't experience any swelling in his knee, went into the batting cage and hit about 60 balls. The plan is for Jones to run the bases and catch fly balls in center field today, which is a day off for the Dodgers. If the swelling that he had Sunday evening doesn't come back, he said he should be ready to play in the Dodgers' series opener against the Cardinals on May 23.

Our View: Whether he will have to undergo surgery will be determined by how his knee responds over the next couple of days to physical activity, which he started Wednesday.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 5/21, 9:30 AM CT
Andruw Jones stated that his swollen right knee felt "much better" on Tuesday, and added that he remained hopeful that he could avoid arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage and remove a cyst that would sideline him for four to six weeks, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Jones will wait until Friday to make a decision on whether to undergo surgery. He would try to hit off a tee today and run the bases on the Dodgers' day off Thursday. Manager Joe Torre commented that he would rather be without Jones for a month or so as he recovered from surgery rather than have him play the remainder of the season with the threat of his knee flaring up again. Jones was hitless over 11 at-bats against the Angels, and is only hitting .167 for the season, with two homers and seven RBI. He won't be missed that much by fantasy owners if he opts for surgery now.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 5/20, 7:43 AM CT
Andruw Jones underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed a slight cartilage tear in his right knee, according to ESPN.com. The Dodgers will wait a few days to see if the center fielder will have to undergo surgery. Jones said, "Hopefully, I can do surgery in the offseason."

Our View: Jones was hitless over 11 at-bats against the Angels, and is only hitting .167 for the season, with two homers and seven RBI. He won't be missed that much by fantasy owners if surgery is needed now.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 5/13, 5:42 PM CT
Andruw Jones is not in the Dodgers lineup for the second straight game, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: The team will go with Juan Pierre in LF, Matt Kemp in CF and Andre Ethier in RF, which is their best setup at the moment. The decline of Jones is so staggering this year that if not for his career record and large contract, he would likely be on a bus somewhere traveling someplace in a minor league uniform.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSunday 5/11, 1:02 AM CT
The Dodgers spent big money this off-season to add CF Andruw Jones . Now they have to question how poorly that decision has become. Jones went 0-for-3 this evening with two strike outs and one runner left on board.

Our View: Jones is now hitting .170 on the season, though hopes had come alive after he went 5-for-21 coming into this game. Regardless, his one home run and atrocious batting average show no sign of relenting.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 5/1, 11:47 AM CT
Andruw Jones is riding the pine today, according to MLB.com. Juan Pierre filled his spot in left field.

Our View: Jones is still only hitting .159 over 88 at-bats, with 29 strikeouts. So far, he has only contributed one homer and four RBI over 27 games with the Dodgers.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 4/28, 6:40 PM CT
According to Fox Sports Andruw Jones is a consideration for the Baseball Hall of Fame. But Jones' career has hit a wall. In 2007 he hit .222 with a .311 on-base percentage. In the early going this season he is hitting .167 with a .274 on-base percentage.

Our View: Jones won't make the Hall of Fame on the merits of his hitting alone, he was known more for his glove than his bat early in his career. The problem is both phases of his game have apparently diminished, and this after signing the biggest contract of his career with the Dodgers during the offseason. The Braves are looking smarter with each Jones at-bat.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 4/26, 7:27 AM CT
Andruw Jones was forced out of action after the fourth inning during Friday's win against the Rockies due to a left calf contusion, according to the AP. He is listed as day-to-day.

Our View: Jones was only hitting .169 over 77 at-bats, with 26 strikeouts, and his loss won't be significant to your team right now, if he is forced to miss any time. He is likely firmly planted on your bench anyway, if you have depth in your outfield.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 4/22, 3:49 PM CT
Andruw Jones will ride the pine in favor of Juan Pierre tonight, according to InsideSoCal.com. Jones was dropped to eighth in the Dodgers' lineup in his last appearance, and suitably went 0-for-4.

Our View: Jones is only hitting 10-for-63, with 22 strikeouts so far as a member of the Dodgers. He cannot be this bad all season long, and he is worth targeting in case you can lure him away for a rock bottom price.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 4/21, 9:53 PM CT
Andruw Jones, who was dropped to eighth in the batting order on Monday and he responded by going 0-for-4. He is now hitting .159 on the year.

Our View: Perhaps the Dodgers should bench Jones in favor of Pierre since Andruw has amazingly been a factor worse than he was last year when he was awful. Still, he has to rebound at some point, so you might want to look into what it will take to acquire him from his current owner as it may cost nothing.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 4/19, 6:15 PM CT
Andruw Jones, following in the footsteps of Prince Fielder, broke a long homerless drought on Saturday as Jones hit his first home run in a Dodgers uniform in his 55th AB.

Our View: Jones also walked twice on the day but he is still hitting a sickly .182 with just three RBI, hardly the type of production the Braves thought they would get when they signed him this off-season.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersSaturday 4/12, 11:59 PM CT
Andruw Jones scored three runs on Saturday night though he also went 0-for-3 to drop his season average to a sickly .105.

Our View: With all the energy being pushed in the direction of the Matt Kemp/Juan Pierre battle for playing time maybe it's time to question whether or not it such a great idea to just pencil in Jones name to the lineup each night.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersWednesday 4/9, 2:51 PM CT
Andruw Jones will ride the pine today in favor of Matt Kemp, according to the LA Daily News. Jones is only hitting .103 over 29 at-bats (with nine strikeouts), and Manager Torre is going with Kemp in center field.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 3/21, 9:03 PM CT
Andruw Jones went 3-for-4 on Friday with two runs and a SB for the Dodgers. Wouldn't it be great to have 26 HR and 94 RBI in a season an be considered an abject failure? Jones did hit .222 last season, an awful number, but motivated by a short 2-year contract does anyone doubt that a .270-35-100 season isn't possible this season?
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 3/7, 9:10 PM CT
Andruw Jones took advantage of the strong winds in Vero Beach, Fla on Friday to hit his first homer for the Dodgers. Jones has begun taking off some of the extra weight he reported with in his first season with the Los Angeles and is down 10 pounds from the 240 he reported with in late February.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersFriday 2/29, 8:07 AM CT
Andruw Jones has admitted that he's a bit overweight this spring -- he's listed at 240 pounds -- but he told manager joe Torre that he'd work it off, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Jones said he went into the offseason trying to gain weight after hitting just .222 with a slimmer physique in 2007. Let's hope the added weight is more muscle than flab and that he can come through on an improvement on last season's disappointing performance.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersThursday 12/6, 10:25 AM CT
Andruw Jones has reached a two-year, $36.2 million contract with the Dodgers, according to the AP. "We're thrilled to get a player of his caliber," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Thursday morning. "His desire to be in LA was a huge component in this." Jones is coming off a down year, hitting just .222 with 26 homers and 94 RBI this past year, but the hope is he'll rebound to his .260/35 HR level in 2008.
Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersTuesday 12/4, 11:42 AM CT
The Dodgers are interested in both Andruw Jones and Aaron Rowand, but right now GM Ned Coletti feels that the two outfielders' respective agents are asking for too much. Coletti would like to offer Jones a two- to three-year deal, but Jones is believed to be looking for a contract worth more than the five-year, $90 million deal Torii Hunter signed with the Angels. The GM said the representatives of the two free-agent center fielders would have to contact him to resume negotiations. "I don't see how we explore it from here," Colletti told the LA Times.

"Andruw's knee's been bothering him, his shoulder's been bothering him, his elbow," manager Bobby Cox told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Just time to take a day off." Andruw Jones still is bothered by his sore left elbow. He plans to have an X-ray and MRI on Monday, though he intends to take part in Sunday's game, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The ongoing pain and trouble with the joint could help explain his terrible .216 batting average, but we'll have to see what test results say before knowing whether he might need to sit out for a while.

Andruw Jones, CF, Texas RangersMonday 5/21, 6:34 AM CT
Andruw Jones is slumping so badly, that he was dropped in the batting order on Sunday. Manager Bobby Cox had Jones batting sixth, instead of fourth, in the hope it might help the slugger find his swing, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "You look at a lot of guys who have bad years, the start good and finish bad," he said. "So you've always got a chance to start bad and then pick it up. Normally I hit good in May. This is the first time I'm not hitting good in May, so hopefully when it's past I'll get in a groove and put up good numbers." The move didn't do much good in the short term, as Jones struck out five times Sunday. Expect him to turn things around sooner than later, though.
