Backstrom, power play fuel Wild win over Blues St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Coming off a career-worst performance in his
last outing, Niklas Backstrom turned aside all 22 shots he faced to record his
third shutout of the season, as the Minnesota Wild blanked the St. Louis
Blues,
4-0, at the Xcel Energy Center.
Eric Belanger and Marek Zidlicky both registered a goal and an assist for the
Wild, who have won four of their last six games.
Backstrom allowed a career-high six goals on 26 shots and was yanked after the
second period in Monday's 6-5 setback to Colorado, but rebounded to post his

Blues forward Dan Hinote will marry former Playboy Playmate Amy McCarthy, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Amy is the younger sister of Jenny McCarthy, the more famous ex-Playmate.
Our View:This has absolutely nothing to do with fantasy hockey, but it deserves a mention anyway.
Martin Rucinsky has left the Blues and the NHL to play for the Czech team Sparta Prague, according to the AP. It is known that the 37-year-old inked a one-year deal, but financial details were not disclosed.
Our View:Rucinsky suffered through an injury riddled 2007-08 campaign with St. Louis, as he only chipped in five goals and 11 assists over 40 games. At his age, his career in the NHL is likely over.
Andy Wozniewski has left the Maple Leafs as he signed a deal to play for the Blues, according to Slam Sports. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Our View:He scored two goals and seven assists over 48 games with Toronto last season, to go along with 54 penalty minutes, and the defenseman will provide depth to the Blues, but won't be "fantasy worthy."
