Stanley Cup Notebook: Pens get revenge on Sens
By Dan Di Sciullo, NHL Editor

(Sports Network) - It's been said that revenge is a dish best served cold. The Pittsburgh Penguins seemed to have little use for that proverb in their opening-round series against the Ottawa Senators.

Last year, the Penguins made it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2001, but their stay wasn't long, as Ottawa won the conference quarterfinal series in five games en route to a run to the Stanley Cup finals.

However, it was a completely different story this year, as Pittsburgh rolled past the Senators with a four-game sweep in the ope... More...

Player Notes
Wade Redden, D Tuesday 5/13, 1:09 PM CT
Wade Redden hasn't rejected any offer to return to the Senators simply because he hasn't received one, according to the Ottawa Citizen. He will be an unrestricted free agent as of July 1. Don Meehan (Redden's agent) also noted as "nonsense" a report last week that stated Redden had rejected a request by the Senators to take as much as a $3-million pay reduction from the $6.5 million he made last season. Meehan added, "I haven't had any discussions with Bryan. I haven't had any requests from him, so I don't know where any of this nonsense is coming from."

Our View:It is unlikely Redden will return to Ottawa, and the Panthers are believed to be interested in acquiring him if available. He would be one of the top defensemen on the market if he becomes a free agent.
Dany Heatley, W Sunday 5/4, 8:38 PM CT
Dany Heatley notched a goal and three assists in Team Canada's 7-0 win over Latvia on Sunday, the AP reports.

Our View:Heatley had a slightly down year due to some missed games, but we have no doubt he'll be a high fantasy draft pick again in 2008-09.
Wade Redden, D Monday 4/21, 4:36 PM CT
Wade Redden just may end up staying with the Senators after all, this according to a report in the Ottawa Sun. "All I can say is, earlier on I met with his agent Don Meehan and we talked about going forward with Wade, I talked about maybe what they would be looking for," said GM Bryan Murray.

Our View:Redden earned $6.5 million this past season and will likely have to take a pay cut to stay in Ottawa moving forward. Redden will interest a whole of team's this off-season if he is willing to lower his asking price, but it remains to be seen if he will have to lower it that much given the current financial dynamics in the NHL.
