Dmitri Kalinin, D Friday 7/4, 9:49 AM CT
Dmitri Kalinin has signed a one-year deal with the New York Rangers, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Kalinin had just one goal in 46 games and should not be an option for fantasy hockey players.
Markus Naslund, W Friday 7/4, 8:09 AM CT
Markus Naslund has signed a two-year deal worth $8 million to play for the New York Rangers, according to Slam! Sports.

Our View: Naslund is still a useful fantasy player, but he is 35 years of age, and his point total has dipped in recent years, so he is clearly not what he once was.
Jaromir Jagr, W Friday 7/4, 8:06 AM CT
Jaromir Jagr has signed to play with Avangard Omsk, a team in Russia, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The deal is reportedly for two years.

Our View: There goes one fantasy option. Jagr wasn't the dynamic player he had been, but he could still tally enough points to be a valuable element to a fantasy team.
Jaromir Jagr, W Thursday 7/3, 10:07 AM CT
Jaromir Jagr is unlikely to re-sign with the New York Rangers, according to the New York Daily News. The team has offered him a one-year deal worth $6 million, but he has better offers to play elsewhere. "It doesn't look to me like I was their first choice. And I don't know if I was No.2 or No.3," Jagr said.

Our View: Jagr is still a very good fantasy player, and that will only change if he takes a deal to play overseas. It is rumored that Omsk-Avangard, a team in the Continental League in Russia, has offered him a lucrative deal.
Nikolai Zherdev, W Wednesday 7/2, 4:37 PM CT
The Blue Jackets have sent Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche to the Rangers in exchange for Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman, according to TSN.ca.

Our View: Zherdev was the fourth overall pick of the 2003 draft, and is coming off his most productive season as he racked up 26 goals and 35 assists (61 points) over 82 games with Columbus in 2007-08.
Sean Avery, W Wednesday 7/2, 1:43 PM CT
Dallasnews.com reports that the Stars have signed Sean Avery to a four-year, $15.5 million deal.

Our View: This perennial badboy should add some attitude to the Dallas roster. Avery managed 15 goals and 18 assists last year in addition to his 154 penalty minutes, while playing for the New York Rangers.
Stephen Valiquette, G Tuesday 7/1, 9:03 PM CT
Goalie Stephen Valiquette has re-signed with the Rangers, according to TSN.ca. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Our View: Valiquette fared well last season as he went 5-3-3 with a 2.19 GAA, but it looks like his fantasy value will remain limited while serving as Henrik Lundqvist's backup in New York.
Wade Redden, D Tuesday 7/1, 6:49 PM CT
Wade Redden has left the Senators and is now a member of the Rangers, according to TSN.ca. He signed a six-year deal worth $39 million.

Our View: He heads to New York following 11-years of service with the Senators. He will add solid depth and leadership to the Rangers.
Michal Rozsival, D Tuesday 7/1, 6:06 PM CT
Michal Rozsival has re-signed with the Rangers, according to TSN.ca. He agreed to a four-year deal worth $20 million.

Our View: The Rangers did not want to lose the tough defenseman, as he contributed 13 goals and 25 assists (38 points) over 80 games with the Rangers in 2007-08, with 80 penalty minutes.
Pat Rissmiller, C Tuesday 7/1, 5:27 PM CT
Pat Rissmiller has left the Sharks as he signed a deal with the Rangers, according to TSN.ca. Terms were not disclosed.

Our View: The hard-nosed forward registered eight goals and nine assists over 79 games with San Jose in 2007-08, with 30 penalty minutes. He will hold little value to fantasy owners, but will be a solid addition to the Rangers' checking line.
Aaron Voros, W Tuesday 7/1, 4:16 PM CT
Former Minnesota winger Aaron Voros has signed with the Rangers, according to TSN.ca. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View: Voros notched seven goals and seven assists over 55 games with the Wild last season, and may end up being Sean Avery's replacement.
Brendan Shanahan, W Tuesday 7/1, 7:29 AM CT
Brendan Shanahan looks likely to continue his career this coming season, and the team with the inside track to sign him just might be the New Jersey Devils, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Shanahan began his career with the club back in 1987-88, when he was more of a tough guy than a scorer. It would be a fitting end to a HOF career for Shanahan to return home, and he still would bring some game with him as he scored 23 times last season, with 11 on the power-play, for the Rangers.
