Blueshirts bring in Naslund, Kalinin
New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Markus Naslund, the team announced on Thursday.

TSN of Canada is reporting the Swedish winger has signed a two-year contract worth $8 million.

Drafted 16th overall by Pittsburgh in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, Naslund was shipped to the Vancouver Canucks on March 20, 1996 in exchange for Alek Stojanov in one of the most lopsided deals in league history.

Paul Mara has decided to remain with the Rangers by taking a million dollar pay cut down to $1.95 million on a one year deal, according to Newsday. "I told the coaches and my agent after the season that New York was the only place I wanted to play," Mara said.

Our View:Mara has some skills, but he has never really put it all together. With the addition of Wade Redden, Mara doesn't figure to be on the first power-play, so chances of him substantially increasing last year's point production (17 in 62 games) would seem to be slim.

Our View:Kalinin had just one goal in 46 games and should not be an option for fantasy hockey players.

Markus Naslund has signed a two-year deal worth $8 million to play for the New York Rangers, according to Slam! Sports.

Our View:Naslund is still a useful fantasy player, but he is 35 years of age, and his point total has dipped in recent years, so he is clearly not what he once was.
