Islanders gain Weight
Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Islanders signed center Doug Weight to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

A four-time All-Star, Weight split his time between St. Louis and Anaheim in the 2007-2008 season and scored 10 goals with 15 assists in 67 games. The 37- year-old is among the NHL's all-time active leaders in assists and points, ranking eighth with 704 assists and twelfth with 969 points.

Goalie Yann Danis has inked a one-year deal with the Islanders, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View:The 27-year-old Danis has been out of the NHL the past two years, and recorded a 3-2-0 record with a 2.69 goals-against average in six games for the Canadiens back in 2005-06.

Mark Streit has inked a five-year deal with the Islanders worth $20.5 million, according to TSN.ca.

Our View:Streit was a top priority for the Canadiens, but the Islanders ultimately snatched him away. The talented defenseman scored 13 goals and 49 assists (62 points) over 81 games with Montreal in 2007-08.
Wade Dubielewicz, G Sunday 6/29, 7:46 AM CT
Wade Dubielewicz has reportedly inked a deal with Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian league K.H.L, according to the NY Times.

Our View:He showed up to training camp out of shape last fall, and the Islanders started Rick DiPietro at goalie in 33 of the first 35 games of the season. He went 9-9-1 over 20 games played, with a 2.70 GAA. He denied the Islanders' offer and opted to play in Russia.
