goaltender Joey MacDonald have been selected as the NHL's top players for the
month of November.
Ovechkin was chosen as the First Star after leading all scorers with 25 points
for the month. He notched 11 goals and 14 assists in 14 games, helping the
Capitals post a record of 8-5-2. The reigning NHL MVP had a 10-game point
streak during the month and became the second Capital to earn the league's

Chad Anderson has signed a one-year two-way contract with the Canadiens, according to TSN. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Our View:The 26-year old defenseman has yet to make his NHL debut but contributed two goals and 11 assists over 55 games last season with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL. He shouldn't hold any fantasy value next season.
Bryan Smolinski continues to be an unsigned free agent, and even at 36years old he still believes he can be a full-time skater at the NHL level, according to the Boston Globe.
Our View:Smolinksi skated on the Habs fourth line in the playoffs centering Steve Begin and Tom Kostopoulos, and the trio was very successful. Smolinski should sign with someone soon, though he is no longer fantasy relevant.
Montreal defenseman Ryan O'Byrne had grand theft charges against him dropped after he apologized to the victim and performed community service in Canada, according to TSN.com.
Our View:O'Byrne was arrested after being accused of stealing a woman's purse. He is a former third-round draft pick who recently signed a three-year deal with the Habs. He may warrant fantasy consideration at some point in his career, but that time is not now.
