Flyers D Timonen out indefinitely Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia defenseman Kimmo Timonen
will miss at least the Eastern Conference finals after being diagnosed
with a blood clot in his left ankle.
Timonen blocked a shot during Game 4 of the club's semifinal series against
the Montreal Canadiens, and played through pain in the clinching Game 5 last
Saturday.
An MRI taken Wednesday revealed no damage, but a vascular surgeon at the
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania found the clot during an

Mark Streit is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, according to The Montreal Gazette. He said, "I love Montreal and I'm hoping to stay here for three, four, five more seasons. I know I'll get offers, but I'm hoping to stay here. Montreal gave me a chance to play and I'm happy here. Anyone who knows me, knows that the most important thing for me is to be happy."
Our View:He is eligible to become unrestricted free agent on July 1. And he's the top priority on GM Bob Gainey's must-do list. Streit has the versatility to be play defense or forward, and contributed 13 goals and 49 assists over 81 games this season.
Alexei Kovalev generated a goal and an assist in Saturday's Game 5 loss to the Flyers. Montreal lost the series 4-1, but Kovalev did his job as he scored five points over the five games.
Our View:Kovalev ended the playoffs with 11 points (five goals), but didn't receive enough support to get past Philadelphia.
Tomas Plekanec scored a goal and an assist in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Philadelphia in Game 5. Montreal played their final game, and lost the series 4-1. Plekanec did his job, as he scored five points over the five games.
Our View:He scored nine points in the playoffs overall, and fought hard until the very end for Montreal.
