Wild coach Lemaire returning in 2008-09
St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Jacques Lemaire announced Saturday that he will return next season as head coach of the Minnesota Wild, which will be his eighth with the club.

There had been some speculation after the second consecutive first-round exit by the Wild that Lemaire, the only coach in club history, would step down. He released a statement on Saturday confirming his return for the 2008-09 season.

Player Notes
Marian Gaborik, W Saturday 5/10, 11:24 AM CT
Coach Jacques Lemaire says he’ll return for an eighth season with the Wild, according to the AP.

Our View:Lemaire has a career record of 500-381-168 over 14 years of coaching service, including 60-52 in the playoffs. But with the Wild, he’s gone a disappointing 11-18 in the playoffs.
Pavol Demitra, W Tuesday 5/6, 8:55 AM CT
Minnesota forward, and pending free agent, Pavol Demitra took a trip to Vancouver to check out the city, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:The 33-year old Demitra can become a free agent on July 1, and both he and the Wild appeared destined to part ways after the season. Canucks' GM Mike Gillis confirmed the visit to Vancouver. Demitra is coming off a poor offensive season by his standards, as he only scored 15 goals and 39 assists over 68 games.
Mikko Koivu, C Saturday 5/3, 8:26 PM CT
Mikko Koivu contributed two goals and an assist to help lead Finland to a 5-1 win over Germany in the preliminary round of the 2008 World Hockey Championships, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Koivu scored three goals over the five playoff games against Colorado in the NHL Playoffs, and is a player to watch for next season.
