Edmonton places Potulny on waivers Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers placed forward Ryan
Potulny on Wednesday.
The Oilers acquired Potulny from Philadelphia on June 6 in exchange for
defenseman Danny Syvret.
The University of Minnesota product arrived in the NHL late in the 2005-2006
season after averaging better than a point per game in college, and has
recorded seven goals and 14 points in 44 total games over the last three
seasons with the
Flyers.
Philadelphia's third-round pick in the 2003 draft also racked up 68 goals and

Count Dwayne Roloson as one of the many Oilers who are excited about the way the off-season has played out thus far, according to the Edmonton Sun. "It's all excitement, everyone's excited for the upcoming season. They're looking forward to the run-and-gun style we played towards the end of the year," said Roloson.
Our View:The Oilers finished the year on a 14-5-1 run and have added Erik Cole, Gilbert Burle and Lubomir Visnovsky this off-season. As for Roloson, he figures to battle Mathieu Garon for looks in net with Garon the favorite for about 50 starts.
Petr Nedved will go to training camp with the New York Rangers strictly on a try-out basis, but his chances of making the team are slim, according to the New York Daily News. "I have to be realistic and I don't see a big chance," he said.
Our View:Nedved did not play in the NHL last season, and had just 12 points in 40 games in 2006-2007 with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers have signed Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers to a two-year deal, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Our View:He spent last season with Springfield of the AHL, while posting a 26-23-5 record with a 2.90 GAA. The team believes he made significant strides in the off-season, and is ready to challenge for a role in 2008-09.
