winner with nine minutes to go in regulation, as the Calgary Flames topped the
Colorado Avalanche, 5-4, in a Northwest Division clash from the Pengrowth
Saddledome.
Jarome Iginla registered a goal and an assist for Calgary, which yielded 11
goals in dropping a home-and-home series with the Vancouver Canucks to open
the 2008-09 campaign. Daymond Langkow, Dion Phaneuf and Mike Cammalleri each
collected two assists, while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 25-of-29 shots to get
the win.
The Calgary Flames have signed forward Andre Roy , according to the Miami Herald.
Our View:The 33-year-old spent last season with Tampa Bay and in 63 games he scored four goals and added three assists. Over 10 seasons in the NHL, which included stops with Boston, Ottawa and Pittsburgh, he has recorded 32 goals and 33 assists in 471 contests.
The Flames have re-signed Adam Pardy, according to the AP. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Our View:Pardy played in 65 games with Quad Cities of the AHL last season, while recording five goals, 13 assists and 67 penalty minutes. He was recalled twice by the Flames but did not appear in an NHL game.
Jamie Lundmark returned to the organization that he spent parts of two seasons with when he signed a contract with the Flames, according to the Associated Press. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Our View:Lundmark didn't play an NHL game last season and has just 232 games under his belt since being selected in the 1999 draft.
