Sabres ink Lalime to two-year deal Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres signed goaltender Patrick
Lalime to a two-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.
Lalime played in 32 games for Chicago last season, posting a 16-12-2 record,
one shutout and a 2.82 goals against average. It was a redemptive season of
sorts, as Lalime went 8-24-9 over the previous two seasons with St. Louis and
the Blackhawks in just 43 total games.
In nine NHL seasons, Lalime, who will turn 34 on July 7, has played in 397
contests with Pittsburgh, Ottawa, St. Louis and Chicago. He has posted a

Paul Gaustad re-signed with the Sabres at a cost of $9.2 million over the next four years, according to TSN. "He is someone who we expect to take a leadership role with this team from the standpoint as an example for younger players and his peers," GM Darcy Regier said.
Our View:Gaustad, the club's seventh round selection in 2000, has scored 28 goals and handed out 54 assists in 215 career games making him a solid solider but not someone to target in fantasy circles.
The Buffalo Sabres have started talks with Ryan Miller and his agent in a bid to sign the star goaltender to a lucrative long-term deal this summer, this according to TSN.ca. The report notes that general manager Darcy Regier said he is commitment to building from within rather than through NHL free agency, which begins Tuesday.
Our View:The Sabres are expected to take a more aggressive approach this off-season after being faulted for waiting too long to lock up co-captains Chris Drury and Daniel Briere a year ago.
