Sabres ink Gerbe
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to terms with forward Nathan Gerbe, who will forgo his senior year at Boston College.

The 20-year-old from Oxford, Michigan led the nation in scoring last season with 68 points in 43 games, including 35 goals. The Hobey Baker Award finalist, who is a diminutive 5-foot-5 and 165 pounds, led the Eagles to the NCAA title last season.

A 2005 draft pick of the Sabres, Gerbe tallied five goals and three assists in the Frozen Four, earning Most Outstanding Player honors as BC won the championship wit... More...

Player Notes
Nathan Gerbe, W Tuesday 5/6, 5:27 PM CT
The Sabres signed Nathan Gerbe to a three-year contract on Tuesday, the AP reports. The deal could be worth as much as $2.55 million. Gerbe, a Hobey Baker finalist, will forgo his senior season at Boston College. He led the nation with 68 points (35 goals, 33 assists) this past season.

Our View:It'll be interesting to see how the 5-5 Gerbe does in his transition to the NHL. Fantasy owners in keeper leagues will want the impressive left wing to be on their cheatsheets.
Jason Pominville, W Thursday 4/24, 4:32 PM CT
Jason Pominville was named a finalist for the Lady Byng award given each year to the player who "exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability,” according to NHL.com.

Our View:Pominville scored 80 points with a +18 and 20 PIM and was a great force for the Sabres especially down the stretch when he blistered goalies for 42 points in 34 games after the all-star break.
Paul Gaustad, C Saturday 4/19, 4:44 PM CT
Paul Gaustad will not be able to participate for Team USA at the world championships next month as it was announced that he will need surgery for a sports hernia next week, this according to the Buffalo News. "It's really disappointing because my biggest honor in hockey was to get named to that team," Gaustad said.

Our View:Gaustad is an average offensive player, he scored 36 points in 82 games on the season, but he plays a solid all-around game and is a model citizen.
