Bruins grant Kobasew contract extension
Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins signed forward Chuck Kobasew to a multi-year contract extension on Tuesday.

Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a solid year for the Bruins in 2007-2008, placing second on the club with a career-best 22 goals and fourth with 39 points in 73 regular-season games.

Kobasew, who came to Boston in a February 2007 trade from Calgary, has posted 57 goals and 112 points in 293 games with the Flames and Bruins over a five- year NHL career.

The Boston Bruins have signed a three-year contract extension with forward Chuck Kobasew and the details of the agreement have been released, this according to TSN.ca. Kobasew will earn $2 million next season, $2.5 million in 2009-10 and $2.5 million in 2010-11.

Our View:Kobasew is a nice depth forward coming off a solid season of 22 goals and 39 points and is a solid citizen though not worth much attention in fantasy circles.

Tim Thomas injured his groin while playing at the Worlds for the United States and has been sent home, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:No details on the extent of the injury have been given, but the obvious good news is that Thomas has a long while to get back into game shape with the Bruins season over.
