Olli Jokinen scored a goal and had an assist on Tuesday night for the Coyotes in their 4-3 OT loss to the Sharks.

Our View:Jokinen will love playing for Wayne Gretzky in the desert this year and figures to once again produce 30-goals, a total he has reached in four of the past five years. He should be a top draw in all fantasy leagues especially those that count shots considering he has totaled at least 341 in each of the past three seasons.

Olli Jokinen is looking forward to a new start with the Coyotes after playing most of his NHL career with the Panthers, according to the Arizona Republic. He said, "I told everyone I have no regrets or anything bad to say about Florida. I think today we can close those books and keep moving forward. I don't have any personal goal. I think if I bring my best every night, do my best, the numbers are gonna be there. The bottom line is to win and help this team to win hockey games. It takes 100-plus points to be in position for the playoffs, so it means 50 wins and it's got to start the first day of training camp."

Our View:Jokinen racked up 34 goals and 37 assists over 82 games with Florida last season, and should have a strong first season in Phoenix while paired with Shane Doan.

Olli Jokinen is now a member of the Phoenix Coyotes after a trade with the Florida Panthers, this according to NHL.com. Jokinen was acquired for defensemen Keith Ballard, Nick Boyton and a 2nd round pick.

Our View:Jokinen leaves Florida as the franchise leader in goals (188), assists (231) and points (419), obviously leaving a massive void in the middle in Florida. If Jokinen is teamed with Shane Doan, look for a whole lot of fireworks from the Coyotes first line.

Multiple sources state that the Panthers are talking to the Wild about a trade regarding Olli Jokinen, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:Jokinen has scored 173 goals over the past five seasons, and the asking price by Florida is high. If a deal does not get worked out with Minnesota, Calgary and Vancouver are also believed to have interest in acquiring Jokinen, who made it clear he wants out of Florida.

Olli Jokinen wants out of Florida and the Panthers will reportedly attempt to grant his wish during the NHL draft, according to Slam Sports.

Our View:Jokinen has a poor relationship with team GM Jacques Martin, and incoming coach Peter DeBoer isn't expected to be able to patch things between them. The Flames want Jokinen, who scored 34 goals and 37 assists in 2007-08, but the Panthers are going to want more than forward Alex Tanguay to complete a deal.

Olli Jokinen will not battle Team Canada on Monday due to a suspension, according to the Edmonton Journal. He was dealt the suspension after checking American defenseman Tim Gleason from behind in the first period on Sunday (in the IIHF World Hockey Championship).

Our View:He will be missed for Team Finland, as Jokinen is a top scorer and affects the power play.

Fittingly, Olli Jokinen failed to score a point in the Panthers final game of the year to wrap up his campaign with 34 goals and 71 points. This was Jokinen's worst season since 2003-04 and though he scored 34 goals for the third straight season, he was never the same after the all-star break with 10 goals and 22 points in 30 games.
March 16, 2008
Olli Jokinen continues to shine as weapon of choice for the Florida Panthers, scoring a goal and an assist in the Panthers' 3-1 win over Atlanta. That puts Jokinen at 69 points for the season, topping the team in both goals and assists.
March 6, 2008
Olli Jokinen put 10 shots on net on Thursday night, and though he didn't score a goal he still posted two assists in the Panthers victory over the Penguins. Jokinen is second in the league with 300 shots on goal though he has beaten the goalie only once in his last 12 games.

Olli Jokinen is one of the biggest names rumored to be on the move, and given that he is under contract for two more years and does not have a no-trade clause in his contract, he figures to be a big time target, according to NHL.com. Olli is due $10.75 million the next two seasons which is a reasonable cost for a player who has scored at least 30-goals in three straight seasons. Jokinen has recorded 180 points the last two seasons, so if he were move to a more well-rounded squad, his plus/minus (-15) could raise to the point that he could be a top-20 skater the rest of the year.

Olli Jokinen failed to record a point on Thursday night, the fourth time in five games that he has been held pointless. Olli seems to have been affected by the injury to Richard Zednik that came from his skate because after a 6-game point streak he now has just one assist in five games.

Olli Jokinen was limited to just one period of play Wednesday and was unable to practice Thursday due to a stomach virus, according to the Miami Herald. "He's feeling a bit better this morning, but he's still fighting the bug," Panthers coach Jacques Martin said Thursday. "There's nothing you can do about it." Jokinen would have to be in really bad shape if he fails to play on Friday, as Wednesday's contest was the 346th consecutive game in which he's taken part.

Olli Jokinen (flu) is questionable for Friday's game against the Canucks, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. The bug cost him the final two periods of Wednesday's game.
