Rob Blake scored his fifth goal of the year on Saturday in the Sharks 3-2 win over Phoenix.

Our View:Blake has registered points in six consecutive games for the Sharks. He started slow, but is helping fantasy owners nearly every night now.
November 23, 2008
Rob Blake had four assists on Saturday, taking his season total to 15.

Our View:Blake's fantasy value is on the rise as he's regaining his form as an offensive defenseman with 17 points in 21 games on the year.
November 14, 2008
Rob Blake racked up three power-play assists on Thursday night in the Sharks 6-1 defeat of the Flames.

Our View:Blake fired four shots on goal, and his presence on the power-play is one of the main reasons the Sharks have had success with the man advantage. Blake is off to a solid start with 12 points in 18 games in teal.

Rob Blake is looking forward to the 2008-09 campaign, his first as a member of the Sharks, according to the Mercury News.

Our View:The 38-year-old realizes that his age will be questioned, but he feels no different than he ever did in his career, which spans 18 seasons. Blake could bounce back from a forgettable 2007 campaign, and be productive enough to serve as a No. 4 fantasy defenseman.

The San Jose Sharks sign unrestricted free agent defenseman Rob Blake to a one-year, $5 million contract on Thursday, this according to TSN of Canada.

Our View:Blake played in 71 games for the Kings and scored 31 points, 22 were helpers. He should team with Dan Boyle to form a lethal power-play duo on the points.

Rob Blake is wanted in Los Angeles, and the team wants him back as long as he understands the role he will be asked to play, according to the Los Angeles Times. "I think it's great if he does want to come back, but I don't think it's fair unless we're exactly on the same page," GM Dean Lombardi said. "The incredible influence that he can have on young players . . . it's critical that he understand the role.

Our View:The team would love the aging Blake to mentor second year defensmen Jack Johnson as well as having him work with youngster Peter Harrold and Alec Martinez. Blake is still worth attention on draft day, but he is no longer an All-Star caliber performer.
June 24, 2008
Rob Blake is expected to meet with GM Dean Lombardi this week to discuss a contract extension with the Kings, according to the LA Times.

Our View:The 38-year old could become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and his best days are clearly behind him, as he only scored nine goals and 22 assists over 71 games in 2007-08.

Rob Blake was activated off the DL on Thursday by the Kings, this according to the AP. Blake, who has been out of action the past 11 games due to a broken ankle, will immediately become the Kings best blueliner as soon as he steps on the ice. Blake and his booming slapshot will once again grace the Kings power-play, and with Brad Stuart now in Detroit, look for Blake to see copious amounts of ice-time.
February 20, 2008
Rob Blake likely won't test his fractured ankle by skating until next week, according to the LA Times. We probably won't see Blake in game action until sometime in March.
February 18, 2008
Rob Blake, out with an injured ankle, has no intention of waiving his no trade clause as he wants to remain a King until he retires according to a report on TSN. "My goals have been, two years ago, to sign here, to finish here. And to do something here, and that hasn't changed." Blake still owns a booming shot and could have been a huge pickup for a playoff contender down the stretch, but he will remain in LA. Once he returns to the ice expect solid point and PIM totals though his plus/minus (-13) will likely still continue to lag behind his other production.
February 15, 2008
Rob Blake is due to get another MRI exam this weekend to see how much progress he's made with his fractured ankle, according to the LA Times. He hasn't played this month due to the injury. The Kings are hoping he'll get back on the ice soon so they can trade him before the deadline.
February 11, 2008
Rob Blake missed his fifth consecutive game with an injured ankle on Sunday. The Kings salvaged a 3-2 win in a shootout against the Blue Jackets. The team still doesn't have a timetable for Blake's return.
February 8, 2008
The Kings likely will look to unload Rob Blake, Brad Stuart and Jaroslav Modry by the trade deadline, according to the Detroit News. The Red Wings are looking to add some depth to their blue line, so they're likely to have some discussions with the Kings. Blake, despite being out with a broken ankle, is just the kind of veteran the Wings usually eye at this time of year. It'll be interesting to see if the two squads can work out a deal.
February 7, 2008
The Kings placed Rob Blake on IR Thursday. Blake is recovering from a non-displaced fracture of his left ankle and will be out for at least another week-and-a-half.
February 3, 2008
Rob Blake had been playing through a sore ankle since being hit by a slap shot on Jan. 15, according to the LA Times. However, an MRI taken Friday revealed that he actually has a fracture in the joint. As a result, Blake is expected to miss at least the next two weeks. The veteran has 25 points and 80 PIM in 53 games this season, but his minus-13 rating is a dead weight for fantasy teams.
