Defenseman Bryan Berard furthered the case for him to make the Flyers' roster on Saturday by recording two assists against the Hurricanes in Philadelphia's 4-2 win.

Our View:Berard has had a nice preseason and has a very good chance of making the team. He does not merit much fantasy attention, however.

Defenseman Bryan Berard thinks he can be a contributor for the Flyeres, and is hoping he gets a chance to show what he can do, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "I believe I can still be that player that can help on the power play. My all-around game is there now," he said.

Our View:Berard spent last season with the Islanders, putting up 22 points in 54 games, with a +/- of -17. He is a nice story after having so much trouble with his eye injury, but he merits no fantasy attention.

Defenseman Bryan Berard has confirmed his plans to attend the Flyers' training camp in September on a try-out basis, Philadelphia general manager Paul Holmgren announced on Monday, according to the Sports Network. "Bryan has been around a number of years now," said Holmgren. "He has been a good defenseman for quite some time. I'm excited about Bryan's willingness to come here on a try-out. It will certainly pick up the competition level of what is going to take place in training camp anytime you can add a player like him. This is kind of an out-of-the-blue thing. It just kind of popped up over the last week to 10 days. We are looking forward to seeing how he does."

Our View:Originally selected first overall by Ottawa in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Berard sustained what many believed to be a career-ending eye injury during the 1999-2000 season while playing for Toronto. The 31-year-old rearguard played in 54 games last season for the New York Islanders, compiling five goals and 22 points with a frosty minus-17 rating. As those numbers indicate, fantasy value is low.

The Philadelphia Flyers are bringing in veteran defenseman Bryan Berard for a tryout during training camp, according to HockeyBuzz.com.

Our View:Berard has had trouble staying healthy, and though talented, he isn't going to help fantasy squads much. He had 22 points in 54 games with the Islanders a year ago.

Bryan Berard finally had the performance on Thursday that the New York suits hoped would become commonplace when they inked the defenseman during the offseason. The 30-year-old had a goal and a pair of helpers in the Islanders 5-4 comeback win over Toronto. Staying on the ice has been Berard's Achilles. Injuries have limited him to only 30 games this year, and in his past two seasons at Columbus, the veteran managed to play only 55 of 164 possible contests.

Bryan Berard scored a goal in Thursday's loss to Los Angeles. Make it four points in three games for Berard, who's getting more power-play time with Chris Campoli out of the mix.
