Jarome Iginla is a finalist for the Hart Trophy (MVP), but don't consider him one to think he has a chance to win, according to the Calgary Herald. "I'm going pretty much knowing I'm not going to win -- well, I'm 99.9 per cent sure I'm not going to win,'' said Iginla. "But I'm going to go and enjoy it. I won't have the pressure of thinking, 'Tonight I have to make a speech,' or even that I might have to."

Our View:Inginla believes that Alexander Ovechkin will win the award, as does most everyone else. The NHL might have tipped its hand a few days ago when NHL.com offered for sale a t-shirt showing Ovechkin the winner of the award. Think someone got fired for putting that item up for sale?

Jarome Iginla was named a finalist for the Hart Trophy awarded each year to the league MVP.

Our View:Iginla truly is an MVP both in the real world and in the fantasy game. He scored 50 goals with 15 on the power-play and nine of them going for game winners, not to mention being a +27 and producing 83 PIM. He should be a top-5 pick in drafts next year.

Calgary RW Jarome Iginla did what he could to put the Flames into the contention and move them on to the second round of the NHL playoffs, but his strong skills were no match for a San Jose team on the prowl and too loaded to break, taking the series-deciding Game 7 by a score of 3-5.

Our View:Iginla scored his fourth goal of the playoffs to tie the game at 1-1 in the first period, but the team scored just two more the rest of the way and came up short.

Jarome Iginla and the Flames take on the Sharks in Game 7 tonight, and Iginla will look to return to the scoresheet after he was held pointless in the Flames Game 6 victory.

Our View:Iginla has been held pointless in two of the six games thus far, but in the other four contests he has recorded two points each time out. If he scores tonight the Flames will probably win. If he doesn't, they will likely go home.

As the fans of the great white north have learned, Jarome Iginla is the name of hockey in Calgary, and such was the case this evening in the Flames' 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. The Flames earned just 10 total shots on goal as the Sharks were swarming on defense, but Iginla made the one shot he had on goal good, netting his first of the playoffs.

Our View:He also helped Dion Phaneuf make good on one of his three shots on goal, assisting on the Flames 2nd and final goal of the game.

Iginla seemed to be involved with everything happening on the ice on Wednesday night, just what you would expect from one of the most dominating players to lace up the skates. Jarome Iginla scored a goal and added two assists as the Flames defeated the Canucks 7-1 on Saturday night. Thanks to the goal Iginla finishes the year with 50, the second time in his career that he has hit that prodigious total. The three points left him two short of 100 but the 98 points were still good enough to eclipse his previous career best of 96. Look for him to do some serious damage in the playoffs for however long it is that the Flames stick around.
