Looking to replace the offense they lost when Andrew Brunette signed with the Wild, the Avalanche signed Darcy Tucker to a 2-year, $4.5 million deal on Tuesday, according to TSN.

Our View:Tucker will be itching to prove his worth after being bought out of his contact by the Leafs last week. Tucker struggled with injury and ineffectiveness last year (18g, 16a), but he still brings grit and a solid scoring touch on the power-play.

He's on the market for hire and now the New Jersey Devils may be prepared to offer winger Darcy Tucker a place to play, according to the New York Post.

Our View:The Devils will be meeting with agent Carlos Sosa to seal a new deal for Bryce Salvador today, and Sosa also represents Tucker. Sosa, Salvador and general manager Lou Lamoriello are expected to try today to hammer out a multiyear deal, with Salvador probably asking some $3 million per season with a limited-movement clause. Salvador, a defenseman acquired from the Blues at the trade deadline for Cam Janssen, can become unrestricted Tuesday after making $1.5 million last season. Meanwhile you can bet Sosa will be bringing Tucker's resume to the meeting with him and the Devils could benefit from his services. They have the dough to make it work, but only time will tell. We'll keep you posted.

Darcy Tucker will no longer be a member of the Maple Leafs as the team will buy out the remaining three years of his contract after he failed to waive his no-trade clause, according to the Toronto Star. "We called Darcy, we had a talk and said we'd begin the process of buying him out," said GM Cliff Fletcher. "Darcy's a real professional. He anticipated something was coming. He's looking forward to getting his career back on track somewhere else."

Our View:Tucker was held to just 18 goals and 34 points last season, his worst level of production since the 2002-03 season. The biggest dip in his game was his failure on the power-play where he scored just seven goals, this after netting 33 the previous two seasons.

The Toronto Star reports that Leafs' GM Cliff Fletcher started fulfilling his promise to clean house. Fletcher informed Darcy Tucker – who had refused to waive his no-movement clause – that he intends to buy out the remaining three years of his contract, for which he was owed $9 million.

Our View:Under the terms of the collective agreement, the Leafs will pay Tucker $6 million and be charged $1 million a year for the next six years under the salary cap.

New coach Ron Wilson said he will review game tapes to determine where Darcy Tucker fits in with the team. "Darcy Tucker for years was one of my favourite hockey players, but ... he's starting to wear down. His role on the team, I'm not really sure. I want to spend some time over the next two weeks, watch some film closely, not as a fan but as a coach, and give Cliff my input. That's all I ask from Cliff, is a little bit of input."

Our View:There has been speculation that the team may buy Tucker out of his contract. Keep a close eye on this situation moving forward.

Darcy Tucker picked up a fighting major in his last game but he failed to record a goal leaving him with a total of 18 on the year, the first time in four seasons he has failed to score at least 20 times. There were rumors that he would be traded all year but he hung around and produced 18 goals an 100 PIM for the Leafs.

Darcy Tucker scored two goals on Monday night, and he added an assist as well in what could be his last game in the Leafs uniform. Tucker has been rumored to be on the block, and after a poor start to the year he has certainly picked up his play of late with eight goals in his last nine games as he has put his best foot forward.
