Nicklas Lidstrom won the Norris Trophy award on Thursday night awarded to the best defensemen in the league, according to TSN. Lidstrom won the award for the sixth time. "I never take this for granted," said Lidstrom. "But it really feels special coming here after winning the Cup. It's like icing on the cake."

Our View:Lidstrom only needs two more awards to tie the immortal Bobby Orr, and one more win will move him into a second place tie with Doug Harvey.

Nicklas Lidstrom made hockey history becoming the first European captain to hoist the Stanley Cup. Lidstrom is one of seven Red Wings regulars from Sweden.

Our View: Lidstrom had 13 points and his plus-minus rating was among the league leaders in the playoffs. He had a plus-40 rating during the regular season. He is also under contract to return to Detroit next year, as are the other Swedes.

Nicklas Lidstrom suffered a chipped tooth and cut lip in Game 3, but proved to be fine in Game 4 as he scored Detroit's first goal in their 2-1 win over Pittsburgh.

Our View:Detroit is now one game away from hoisting the Stanley Cup, as they hold a 3-1 lead in the Finals. That was Lidstrom's first goal and third point of the series.
