Islanders' defenseman Brendan Witt scored two second period goals on Monday to lead his team to a 3-1 win over the Oilers. The tallies were Witt's first two of the season.

Our View:Witt isn't known for his scoring, so two consecutive goals tonight was quite a surprise. He had only one point heading into tonight's game, so don't expect many more outbursts like this throughout the season.

Defenseman Brendan Witt was suspended five games for elbowing another player in the head, according to the AP.

Our View:Witt carries a (-31) to go with 75 penalty minutes and seven points in 49 games this season. The Islanders are not likely to miss him.

October 27, 2008
Brendan Witt will miss the next 3-4 weeks because of a lower body injury, according to ESPN. Brett Skinner will try to take up the place of Witt on the blue line.

Our View:Witt used to be fantasy relevant because of his PIM totals but last year he fell to just 51 PIM and clearly offers no reason to be on anyone's fantasy roster even when he is healthy.
