Saku Koivu has been placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:The move was a retroactive one, however, and his return is imminent, perhaps as early as Thursday night. In 15 games this season, the former Canadien has eight points.

The Orange County Register reports that Ducks center Saku Koivu was held out of Wednesday's game with a lower-body injury.

Our View:Koivu has what is being called "a tweak" (which usually means it's groin related) and, although he participated in pregame warmups, he was held out of action. Consider him day-to-day for now, but seeing as he was so close to playing Wednesday, he should be able to suit up for the Ducks next game.

Saku Koivu slipped a goal past netminder Marc-Andre Fleury in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Penguins at the Honda Center.

Our View:Koivu scored in three straight games, with one goal and two assists over the span. He also ended a 10-game skid without a goal.
