September 4, 2008 Former captain and team leader Trevor Linden will have his number 16 retired by the Canucks, according to Our View:A deserving honor for a player who excelled on and off the ice. In related news, the team has decided to wait on retiring the #56 of newly acquired Steve Bernier who has yet to appear in a game for the Canucks. |

June 10, 2008 After 21 seasons of service in the NHL, Vancouver forward Trevor Linden will announce his retirment in a press conference on Wednesday, according to Our View:The Canucks selected Linden second overall in the 1988 and he would go on to play 16 seasons in Vancouver. He helped the Canucks reach Game 7 of the 1994 Stanley Cup final. In 1,382 games Linden scored 375 goals, added 492 assists and collected 867 penalty minutes. |
