The old Grind Line of Kirk Maltby , Kris Draper, and Darren McCarty will be reunited against the Kings Monday night, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:This line getting back together is a result of Johan Franzen being lost for up to a month, as McCarty was placed on waivers a week ago. These players don't hold much fantasy value at this point.
June 2, 2008
The Red Wings are only one win away from hoisting the Stanley Cup as they hold a 3-1 lead in the Finals, and Kirk Maltby commented on the Penguins, according to the Detroit News. Maltby said, "They're going to be desperate. They're fighting for their lives. They're going to want to throw everything at us, and they've got a lot over there."

Our View:Maltby will be ready tonight and is a strong penalty killer, but has not registered a point over 10 playoff games.

Kirk Maltby returned to the ice for the first time in over a month on Thursday, according to the Detroit News. He has been out nursing a hamstring injury. He replaced Darren McCarty.

Our View:Maltby is a good penalty killer, and a high-energy player. He only scored 10 points over 61 games in the regular season, but the Red Wings are pleased to have him back.
May 1, 2008
Kirk Maltby has been cleared to play for the Red Wings, according to the Denver Post. He has been out of action since April 2 due to his hamstring injury.

Our View:He should get some ice time, but Detroit is up 3-0 in the series against Colorado and may just want to stick with their current lineup.
April 29, 2008
Kirk Maltby has been slowed by a hamstring ailment, but he participated in a full-scale practice on Monday and declared himself ready to play, according to The Detroit News. Maltby commented, "I'm ready to go, I'm feeling good." Maltby is yet to play in the postseason, and for the time being, has lost his spot in the lineup.

Our View:It remains to be seen how much action Maltby will see in his first game back. He only scored 10 points over 61 games in the regular season, but has one game-winning goal to his credit.
April 23, 2008
Kirk Maltby went through a full-practice on Tuesday but still isn't sure if he will be able to return to action after missing the entire first round due to an injury hanstring, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:The report also goes on to state that even if Maltby is healthy, he likely won't be in the lineup to start the second round as HC Mike Babcock wants to go with the lineup as it currently sits.
April 19, 2008
Kirk Maltby skated on Saturday in his attempt to come back from a hamstring injury, and he hopes to practice with his mates on Monday, this according to the Detroit Free Press. "It's definitely feeling better and I'm getting closer."

Our View:Maltby isn't fantasy worthy by any means, but his brand of tenacious defense and playoff savvy is a welcomed addition to any real life squad.
April 16, 2008
Kirk Maltby will miss another game tonight due to his hamstring ailment, according to the Detroit News. He will likely miss the remainder of the first round.

Our View:He is needed back on the ice for Detroit, but he held little fantasy value with only 10 points scored for the season.
April 15, 2008
Kirk Maltby will likely miss the remainder of the first round playoff series against Nashville, according to the Detroit News. His hamstring ailment is getting better but he is likely running out of time and noted, "I'd have to be very fortunate healthwise. But I don't know if I'm going to ask the guys to prolong the series just for the sake of that playing. As long as I don't have any setbacks, I should be ready for the second round."

Our View:The team remains in good hands without him, and he should take his time and not rush back into action.
April 7, 2008
The Red Wings do not expect Kirk Maltby to be ready for the start of the playoffs, the Detroit News reports. He has been dealing with a sore hamstring.
January 6, 2008
Kirk Maltby took part in the morning skate Saturday but sat out another game later in the day. However, coach Mike Babcock said he expects Malts to to return to game action on Tuesday, according to the Detroit Free Press. He's been out since late November with a back injury, but it appears safe to insert him back into your lineups for next week.
January 5, 2008
Kirk Maltby remains sidelined indefinitely due to a back injury. "I'd love to say they're really missing me," said Maltby, according to the Detroit Free Press. Of course, the Red Wings have been unstoppable, so they aren't missing him enough to bring him back until he's 100 percent healthy.
