Chris Simon will play next year but it won't be in the NHL as he signed a contract to play with Vityaz Chekhov of the Russia league, according to TSN.

Our View:Simon, most popular for his questionable tactics leading to long-term suspensions, is no longer a fantasy relevant force as he skated in just 38 games and produced only 58 PIM this past season, so it's almost like he left for Russia already.

The lone move for Minnesota before the Tuesday trade deadline, was acquiring enforcer Chris Simon from the New York Islanders, this according to the LA Times. The move drew negative reaction from the fans and local media. Simon makes his 'new home' debut on Sunday night.

The Wild picked up Chris Simon from the Islanders Tuesday in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Simon just finished serving a 30-game suspension and isn't good for anything but penalty minutes.

Chris Simon returned to the lineup for the Islanders for the first time since his 30-game suspension was completed according to a report on NHL.com. "He did something wrong and he paid the price for it," Islanders coach Ted Nolan said. "You can't be too judgmental. I don't there are too many of us on this planet that don't make too many mistakes." Simon has been suspended multiple times for a myriad of "mistakes", and one would think that one more would result in a year long ban and thus the end of his career. Simon is only valuable for those of you in PIM leagues, but even there, his production has been extremely limited this season (41 PIM in 26 games).

Chris Simon could be back at the Islanders practice soon. He's been out since Dec. 15, when he deliberately kicked Jarkko Ruutu, resulting in a 30-game suspension. Simon can't return to game action until Feb. 21, according to the NY Post. "We'll discuss it," coach Ted Nolan said. "He's been working out and he could possibly return [this week]."
