The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Bob Gainey still believe they can land free agent Mats Sundin, according to Slam! Sports.

Our View:Sundin is taking his time deciding whether or not he even wants to play this season. If he does, he is a top fantasy player, as he put up 32 goals and 46 assists last season, and has a +/- of +17.

Mats Sundin could be considering retirement, according to the AP. Sundin said, "I spent a great deal of time reflecting upon the teams who stepped forward and the opportunities that each provided. Unfortunately, I am simply not close to being ready to make a decision about resuming my career at this time." He added, "I would like to thank all the teams who have expressed such sincere interest in my services. The numerous options provided to me were impressive, and I have no doubt that each one presented a unique opportunity for me to finish my career in a terrific hockey environment. I wish all the teams the very best and thank them for their interest."

Our View:Sundin is reportedly drawing interest from as many as four different teams, and the Canucks are said to have offered him a two-year, $20-million deal.
