Paul Ranger had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder earlier this week with the procedure being performed by Dr. James Andrews, according to the AP.

Our View:The prognosis is good with Ranger and he should be back on the ice for the start of next season, good news for a Lightning squad that was the recipient of his career-high totals in goals (10) and points (31).

Paul Ranger will have an MRI this weekend on his shoulder to determine if he needs to have surgery, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Even if he doesn't have to get cut open, he's likely done for the year. "Of course I'm disappointed," Ranger said. "I still want to play. I know we're out of the playoffs, but there's still some games left to bond with the guys and play with the guys and play to win. As much as we're out of the playoffs, you still want to prepare for next year." The defenseman broke out with 10 goals this year, so he'll be missed in fantasy circles.
