Player Notes
November 22, 2008
Carey Price was solid in a losing effort on Saturday, stopping 25-of-27 shots against the Bruins as the Habs fell 3-2.

Our View:Price is still 9-5-1 this season, and has a goals-allowed-average below 2.50 on the year, making him a strong fantasy option.
November 16, 2008
Montreal netminder Carey Price picked up his eighth win of the year, stopping 24 St. Louis shots before winning in a shootout, 3-2.

Our View:Price has been up and down of late, as he allowed six goals against in two of his previous three games, though he did mix in a shutout between those performances.
November 13, 2008
Carey Price followed up his first shutout of the season with an absolute stinker on Thursday night as he allowed six goals in 31 shots in a 6-1 loss to the Bruins.

Our View:Mamma said there would be days like this. Price will rebound from this effort, but that doesn't help remove the six goals from his ledger. Consider the outing nothing more than a brief hiccup.
November 11, 2008
Carey Price held the Senators in check Tuesday, stopping all 28 shots in a 4-0 win.

Our View:Price is off to a fantastic start for the Canadiens, who move into first place in the very competitive Northeastern conference.
October 30, 2008
Carey Price won his fifth game of the year on Thursday night in Montreals' 2-1 win over the Wild. Price stopped 29-of-29 shots in the win.

Our View:Price continued his hot start of the season on Thursday night. The netminder has only allowed 13 goals in seven games.
October 24, 2008
Carey Price is recovering from an "inner body" injury, which is how NHL teams typically say a player has the flu, according to the Montreal Gazette. It is not known how long he'll be out.

Our View:Price probably won't play on Saturday against Atlanta, but we'll keep you posted.
October 18, 2008
Carey Price stopped 28-of-29 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Coyotes.

Our View:Price remains unbeaten at 3-0, and picked up his first shutout of the season.
October 15, 2008
Carey Price stopped 31 of 34 shots before he and the Canadiens prevailed in the shutout for a 4-3 victory over the Bruins in their 99th home opener.

Our View:Price is being looked at as a top-10 option in net this season, and given his talents and the efforts of what appears to be a top of the line offense in front of him, Price should be able to record at least 35 victories for the Habs and justify those predictions.
October 10, 2008
Carey Price made 35 saves in Friday's tough 2-1 loss to Buffalo.

Our View:Price fared very well and would have won if not for poor support from his teammates, and the NHL sophomore should remain active as a No. 1 fantasy goalie.
October 4, 2008
Carey Price stopped 22-of-25 shots on goal in Saturday's 3-0 preseason loss to Minnesota.

Our View:Price won 24 games as a rookie in 2007, with a 2.56 goals-against-average, and the team plans on giving him at least 60 starts this season, making him a viable starting fantasy goalie.
September 30, 2008
Carey Price stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Canadiens 2-1 shootout win over the Red Wings.

Our View:Price appeared in just 41 games last season, his first in the NHL, and figures to be the unquestioned starter for the Habs this year with the plan being set up for him to appear in at least 60 games this season as a clear cut number one for fantasy squads.
September 3, 2008
Carey Price dropped up to 25 pounds in the off-season on advice from goalie Rollie Melanson, according to the Montreal Gazette. Price said, "He wants me to move a little quicker and I won't be hauling 225 pounds around."

Our View:As well as obviously being able to move more quickly, he should also have improved endurance and stamina over the course of the season. He is expected to enjoy a strong campaign, and this news further solidifies that belief.
May 3, 2008
Updating an earlier story, Montreal goalie Carey Price will make the start in net for the Candadiens in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Philadelphia Flyers, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Montreal trails 3-1 in the series, struggles that have led coach Guy Carbonneau to experiment in net. Rookie Jaroslav Halak got the start in Game 4, giving up three goals on 25 shots in the 4-2 loss. Today the Canadiens will turn back to Price, touting a worrisome 3.79 goals-against average in this series.
May 2, 2008
Carey Price is expected to start in Game 5, though coach Guy Carbonneau has yet to make anything official. Backup Jaroslav Halak started on Wednesday for the first time in more than a month. There has been speculation that Price is dealing with a hand injury, but his coach quashed those rumors. "Carey Price is not hurt," Carbonneau said in the Montreal Gazette. "Not his finger, hand, shoulder or knee. He has no injuries. But his confidence is hurt a little."

Our View:Halak wasn't a savior in Game 4, allowing three goals on 25 shots. It's time to get Price back in there.
April 30, 2008
Montreal will not name their starting goalie for tonight's contest against Philadelphia until game time, according to the AP. Rookie Carey Price was pulled after allowing three goals on just 12 shots in Monday’s 3-2 Game 3 loss. Jaroslav Halak replaced Price in the third period but faced only two shots. Price said, "This is the NHL playoffs. I’m 20 years old and I’m finding out the hard way that the NHL playoffs aren’t easy. It’s better to find out now than when I’m 30."

Our View:Price went 24-12 in the regular season, but has struggled in the three games against the Flyers, posting a 3.79 goals-against average and an .853 save percentage.
April 28, 2008
Carey Price gave up goals to Mike Richards, R.J. Umberger and Scottie Upshall in the first six shots of the second period that resulted in the 20-year old netminder being yanked at the start of the third period.

Our View:Jaroslav Halak replaced Price and held the Flyers scoreless in the third. Price might not make it back as the starter for Game 4.
April 22, 2008
Carey Price earned Second Star honors on Monday night, as he stopped all 25 shots in a 5-0 shutout win over Boston, according to NHL.com. That was Game 7 of the series.

Our View:He bounced back nicely from back-to-back losses, and helped Montreal advance to the next round of the playoffs.
April 21, 2008
Carey Price pitched a shutout in Game 7 as he stopped all 25 shots he faced for only the fourth shutout in a Game 7 by a rookie goalie in playoff history as the Habs will move on to the second round.

Our View:Price rebounded from two brutal outings in which he allowed 10 goals to post his second shutout of the first round for the #1 team in the East during the regular season.
April 19, 2008
Carey Price allowed five goals last time out and it was more of the same on Saturday night as he once again allowed five of 36 shots passed him in the Canadiens loss.

Our View:Price allowed five goals the first four games of this series but he has now been beaten 10 times in two games as this series will go to a deciding game in Montreal.
April 16, 2008
Carey Price earned Second Star honors on Tuesday night, as he stopped all 27 shots in a 1-0 shutout win over Boston, according to NHL.com. He led Montreal to a 3-1 lead in the series.

Our View:He has made 110 saves in the series so far.
April 15, 2008
Canadiens goalie Carey Price stopped each and every one of the 27 shots thrown on goal by the Boston Bruins to lead his team to a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Our View:Price allowed five combined goals over the first three games and tonight’s rise couldn’t have come at a better time. Now Montreal carries a 3-1 series lead over Boston and needs one more win to advance.
April 12, 2008
Carey Price improved to 2-0 in his young playoff career by making 37 saves on 39 shots on Saturday night.

Our View:Price hasn't looked at all the part of a rookie in two games in the playoffs as he has allowed only three goals in two games for the number one team in the East.
April 10, 2008
Carey Price made his playoff debut, blocking 17 shots as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series Thursday. Price was 24-12 on the season leading Montreal, which finished first overall in the Eastern Conference with 104 points, to home court advantage.
April 7, 2008
Carey Price was named the NHL's first star of the last week of the regular season, this according to NHL.com. Price was perfect on the week going 3-0-0 with a 0.67 GAA and .977 SV% for the Canadiens. Montreal finished first in the Eastern Conference and will take on the Bruins in the first round, and with the way Price is going he should be a high selection in fantasy pools.
April 5, 2008
Carey Price stopped all but one of the 27 shots he faced on Saturday night to finish his rookie season at 24-12-3 for the Canadiens. And now the real test comes with the playoffs. If Price fails there the rabid media in Montreal will likely forget just how good he was in his first year in the NHL.
April 2, 2008
Carey Price was named the NHL's rookie of the month of March thanks to a 7-3-0 record with a 2.67 GAA and .924 save percentage, this according to NHL.com. April 1, 2008
Montreal goalie Carey Price , the former 1st-round pick from 2005 (5th overall), has enjoyed a strong campaign this season and continues to show fans why he's the future of this franchise, posting 32 saves in a 3-0 shutout victory for the Canadiens. This is Price's whopping fifth win in a row and his tenth victory in his last 13 games. Habs on fire and is sure to be a top fantasy keeper next season.

March 11, 2008
Carey Price stopped all 38 shots he faced on Tuesday to pick up his second straight shutout. The fifth overall pick in the 2005 draft turned away 20 shots in the first period alone and now is 5-2 since taking over the top netminding job for the Habs after Cristobal Huet was shipped off to Washington.
March 6, 2008
Carey Price was the first star on Thursday night as he stopped 37 of 39 shots in the Canadiens 4-3 victory over the Coyotes. This is just the type of bounce back performance the team was looking for from Price who allowed six goals in his last outing. In fact, over his last five starts, he has allowed more than two goals only that one time.
March 5, 2008
Despite earlier reports that the team would start Jaroslav Halak in goal on Thursday night, TSN is reporting that the Habs will once again turn back to rookie Carey Price. Last time out against the Sharks Price allowed six goals, at least two of which he should have stopped. However, he allowed only four goals in his previous three starts and the Habs traded Cristobla Huet so that Price could be the man, so they will continue to ride him down the stretch.
March 1, 2008
Two games, two easy wins for Carey Price, this according to the Buffalo News. After being anointed as the No. 1 goaltender in Montreal, the 20- year-old was in complete control Friday night during the Habs’ 6-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. The prize for the victory? Montreal moved into first place in the Northeast Division. In what the Buffalo News says is easily one of the most bizarre decisions at the NHL trade deadline, Montreal General Manager Bob Gainey traded top netminder Cristobal Huet to Washington and gave the starting goaltender job to Price. The paper compares the trade to Ken Dryden in 1971 and Patrick Roy in 1986.

Carey Price was named the NHL's third star of the week ending February 17th after going 3-0-0 with a 1.32 GAA and .963 SV%. Price had a shutout on the week while stopping 103 of 107 shots. With Cristobal Huet struggling somewhat in net, there is a real chance that the Habs will ride the hot hand of the rookie Price, which gives his short-term value a nice boost.
February 17, 2008
Carey Price stopped 34 shots for his first NHL shutout helping the Montreal Canadiens to a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. Chosen fifth overall in the 2005 draft, Price won his second straight start and over the last two games has blocked 79 of 80 shots.
February 14, 2008
Carey Price stopped 35 of 36 shots on Wednesday night to lead the Canadiens to an emotional victory over the Panthers. Price has put together quite a rookie season in the pressure cooker in Quebec, and for that he is to be commended. Cristobal Huet is still the team's top option in net, but Price can push for more time if he can play like this more often after being mired in a slump that saw him allow at least three goals in each of his previous five starts.
February 8, 2008
Carey Price, who was recalled from Hamilton on Monday, registered 24 saves in his first start for Montreal since he was sent to the minors to build his confidence. Cristobal Huet, who had started every game in Price's absence, ended a string of 13 consecutive starts in which he recorded a record of 9-3-1 over that stretch.
February 5, 2008
Carey Price could start for the Habs as soon as Thursday against the Maple Leafs after being recalled from the minors on Monday, according to TSN.ca. "It's a possibility," coach Guy Carbonneau said. "We sent him (to Hamilton) to get his confidence back and also because he wasn't playing that much. Obviously, if we brought him back, it's for him to play." Price is 3-0 against Toronto this season, so it seems like a logical spot for him to get the nod. Still, Cristobal Huet is going to get the bulk of action in goal, so Price's stay may be short-lived.
February 4, 2008
Carey Price was recalled to the big club on Monday after a 10-game stint in the AHL as Montreal sent down Jaroslav Halak to make room on the roster. Price was 6-4 with a 2.69 GAA for the Hamilton Bulldogs during his assignment and he figures to serve as the backup to Cristobal Huet moving forward.
