Jussi Jokinen scored a goal on the power-play on Thursday night in the Bolts' 4-3 loss to the Wings. Matt Pettinger and Mark Recchi also scored in the loss.

Our View:Jokinen has only eight points in 16 games, but he has beaten goalies six times on the year. Rumors of a potential deal out of town haven't come to fruition, so the hard working Jokinen continues to ply his trade for the Bolts.

Jussi Jokinen scored two goals in the Lightings' 4-3 loss to the Devils. The goals were his third and fourth of the year.

Our View:The Lighting were expecting a lot out of Jokinen this year and the four goals in 11 games are not what they were expecting.

The Tampa Tribune reports that Jussi Jokinen is playing extremely well thus far in camp and not only will he make the team, but he could earn a spot on the Lightning's top line. Though he played left wing with Tampa Bay last season, he has been slotted in at center for all three of the Lightning's preseason games, including Tuesday, and has arguably been the team's most consistent forward. "Jokinen has been great," Lightning coach Barry Melrose said. "He's been our best player for two games." Vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton said, "He's played excellent. He and I have had a number of conversations, and he's just a first-class guy. He's read that he's been traded 99 times over the summer, and it hasn't happened, and that's not uncommon. He's here just like everybody else being evaluated by the coaching staff and management. We're very pleased with the way he has played; he's played excellent."

Our View:Jokinen acquired from Dallas at the trade deadline last season in the deal that sent Brad Richards to the Stars, was believed to be on the trading block - and very may well still be - as the team looked to try to shed his $1.8 million contract for this season. The 25-year-old native of Finland is entering his fourth season with 47 goals and 145 points on his resume.
