Joey MacDonald was stellar again for the Islanders on Saturday, stopping 35-of-37 shots against the Sabres to earn his eighth win of the year.

Our View:MacDonald has been a great fill in while Rick DiPietro has been out of commission.
November 17, 2008
Joey MacDonald earned his third straight win as the Islanders defeated the Canucks in a shootout on Monday. He stopped 31 of 32 shots in the game.

Our View:MacDonald is riding a hot streak while filling in for the injured Rick DiPietro.
November 13, 2008
Joey MacDonald improved his record to 5-6-2 with a victory over the Senators on Thursday night as he stopped 29 of 30 shots that were fired his way.

Our View:MacDonald continues to do a yeoman's like job filling in for Rick DiPietro as he has given the Isles a chance to win almost every night. His ratios aren't great (2.88 GAA, .907 SV%), but he has been a solid option as a number two goalie.

Joey MacDonald will start in net for the Isles on Thursday night against the Thrashers, according to Newsday.

Our View:MacDonald has been filling in for Rick DiPietro, and will continue to receive the bulk of the time in net until the club's franchise netminder returns to action.
November 4, 2008
Joey MacDonald stopped 35-of-36 shots in the Islanders' 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Our View:The win was MacDonald's fourth of the year and evened his record.
October 27, 2008
Joey MacDonald made 35 saves on Monday night but it wasn't enough as he was beaten for four goals in the Islanders loss to cross-town rivals the Rangers.

Our View:MacDonald figures to be the clubs lead netminder with Rick DiPietro on the sidelines, but given that the medical issues that DiPietro is dealing with is still unclear, we can't yet recommend grabbing MacDonald off of waivers.
October 16, 2008
Joey MacDonald had a solid game in net for the Islanders, picking up his second win by stopping 33-of-36 shots, as he led New York to a 4-3 overtime win over Tampa.

Our View:MacDonald continues to play well for the injured Rick DiPietro. He has not been great, but he evened his record to 2-2 on Thursday.
October 13, 2008
Islanders goalie Joey MacDonald had a rough day in net, allowing six goals on 34 shots in the Sabres' 7-1 win.

Our View:MacDonald had played well this year before this unfortunate experience. He will resume his backup duties to Rick DiPietro as soon as the latter is healthy enough to play.
October 13, 2008
Joey MacDonald is expected to make his third start in goal Monday, according to Newsday.

Our View:MacDonald holds a favorable 2.00 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage over his first two starts, with a 1-1 record. Rick DiPietro has served as his backup the last two games, and is denying the news that his surgically repaired knee is swelling. We will keep you posted on the situation among the Islanders' goaltenders.
October 11, 2008
Goalie Joey MacDonald had another nice night on Saturday. He stopped 24-of-26 shots against the Blues and picked up a win. MacDonald is filling in while Rick DiPietro (knee) is out.

Our View:That's two straight solid showings for MacDonald. He is available on the fantasy hockey dollar menu and may be worth a flier while DiPietro is out.
October 10, 2008
Joey MacDonald performed well as he stopped 27-of-29 shots in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Devils.

Our View:He played good enough to win, but unfortunately his teammates had trouble lighting the lamp against future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur.
October 4, 2008
Joey MacDonald shut down the Bruins in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win as he stopped 28 of 29 shots-on-goal.

Our View:MacDonald has solid skills, evidenced by tonight's performance, but his fantasy value will remain limited while serving as the primary backup to starter Rick DiPietro.

The Islanders may have fallen short of their hopes in allowing the Devils to secure a spot in the upcoming NHL Playoffs, but goalie Joey MacDonald did what he could to prevent the 2-1 loss. MacDonald stopped 45 of 47 shots on goal in just his second start this season. Who knows what the future holds for MacDonald, but he certainly flashed strong potential in the heartbreaking loss this evening.
March 23, 2008
Joey MacDonald made his first start of the year on Sunday with Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro out for the season due to a hip injury. MacDonald's first start resulted in a 4-1 loss to the Flyers. It was MacDonalds first start since the 2006-07 season when he made 12, and finished with three wins and seven losses.
