The Washington Post reports that defenseman Mike Green is dealing with soreness in his foot and he had to leave practice multiple times on Saturday to have it tended to.

Our View:He claims it feels better when skating, but keep an eye on his ice-time. This may turn into a nagging injury that may reduce the high scoring defensemen's production going forward.
October 10, 2008
Mike Green scored two goals and an assist in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Thrashers. Both of his goals came on the power-play.

Our View:Green looks to rank among the most productive young defensemen in the NHL, evidenced by tonight's performance in the season opener.
October 5, 2008
Mike Green scored a goal on an assist from Michael Nylander in the Caps OT loss to the Bruins on Sunday.

Our View:Green continues to move up draft boards as we approach opening night as the feeling seems to be that he has a chance to exceed last season goal total of 18, the most amongst full-time defensemen in the league.
September 30, 2008
Mike Green scored 18 goals last season to lead all defensemen, but he is looking to have a better start to the season than he did last year when he scored just three goals in his first 21 games, according to the Washington Post. "Of course there's pressure, pressure to make sure you're producing because you did the year before," said Green.

Our View:Green is going very early in drafts this season because of last year's prodigious goal total, and he figures to get ample power-play time with Alexander Ovechkin giving him a shot to duplicated his production from last season.
September 29, 2008
Defenseman Mike Green scored on one of his five shots in the Capitals 3-2 win over the Devils on Monday. He led the team in ice time with over 26 minutes.

Our View:Green took off last season after the coaching change and should contniue to make his impact this season. He turns 23 in October so the best is yet to come. Assuming good health, he should be good for 25 goals this season.
July 1, 2008
Mike Green has put his name on the dotted line for a 4-year year, $21 million contract to remain with the Capitals, according to ESPN. "Mike has developed into an impact defenseman in the short time since we drafted him, and he will be a key part of our team moving forward," general manager George McPhee said.

Our View:This is a pretty big contract for a guy who entered last season with just 15 points scored. Green took his game to a whole other level last season though with 18 goals and 56 points for the Caps. He should continue to run the power-play with Alexander Ovechkin and produce stellar numbers.
June 29, 2008
Mike Green has been given a qualifying offer by the Capitals, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Green ranks among the top defensemen in the NHL as he racked up 18 goals and 38 assists (56 points) over 82 games in 2007-08. He will garner strong interest from several clubs as a restricted free agent.
April 22, 2008
Mike Green will play in Game 7 against the Flyers, the Washington Post confirms. The defenseman suffered a mysterious, unexplained injury in Game 6. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. They would have to cut off one of my legs," Green explains.

Our View:Green has been great for the Caps in the series, and there's no way he was going to miss this one.
April 22, 2008
Mike Green has helped to pick up the slack of having an injured Jeff Schultz (upper-body injury) on the blueline as he has scored three goals and seven points heading into Game 7 of the Caps series with the Flyers, this according to NHL.com.

Our View:Green has been a godsend this season as he has scored 21 goals and 63 points in 88 regular season and playoff games. The club will once again look for offense from their rearguard in Game 7 when the Capitals will be playing their first Game 7 at home since May 1, 1992.
April 11, 2008
Mike Green scored two third period goals in the Capitals 5-4 victory over the Flyers. Green, who led all defensemen during the regular season with 18 goals, scored one of his two markers on the power-play.
April 1, 2008
Defenseman Mike Green did his part in helping the Washington Capitals to a dominating 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, posting two assists, working with veteran Sergei Fedorov on both (one on a goal by Alexander Semin, his 25th of the year, the other to Matt Cooke). Green now has 35 helpers on the season and touts six points in his last five games.
March 30, 2008
Mike Green netted a Alexander Ovechkin offering in the second period of a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Washington had been lacking a premiere offensive defenseman since the days of Sergei Gonchar, Green has played the part and should benefit in off-season negotiations.
February 10, 2008
Mike Green scored the game-wining goal in OT, his 15 tally of the season, for the Capitals against the Rangers on Sunday. Ever so quietly Green is now up to 15 goals on the year and when you add in his 50 PIM, you have one of the biggest hitters in the league from the blueline, not bad from a waiver-wire pickup.
