Brooks Laich will be on the Capitals' top line Tuesday night to replace Alexander Ovechkin, who will miss the game for personal reasons, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Laich has been moderately productive this year, with two goals and four assists through eight games. He's also a +2 and is available in most leagues if you need a short term lower level forward.

The Capitals have re-signed Brooks Laich to a three-year contract, according to TSN. The deal is worth $6.1 million.

Our View:Laich is a quality center as he notched 21 goals and 16 assists over 82 games in 2007-08. He scored a point in the final five games of the postseason against the Flyers, and could challenge 25 goals next season.

Brooks Laich has elected to take the Capitals to salary arbitration, according to TSN. Defenseman Shaone Morrison is also taking the club to arbitration.

Our View:Laich reached new highs with 21 goals and 16 assists (37 points) over 82 games in 2007-08. The 25-year old center scored a point in each of the Capitals' final five games of the postseason against the Flyers, notching six (one goal) over the span.
