Kyle Wellwood has gone from the doghouse to useful player for the Canucks, according to TSN. "It was definitely my last chance to play in the NHL for a team if I would have messed it up again," Wellwood said as he has been attempting to refute the notion that he was soft, lacked passion, and didn't take care of his body.

Our View:Wellwood has scored six goals in just eight games, including four on the power-play, and Wellwood currently merits being rostered in all but the shallowest of leagues.
October 21, 2008
Kyle Wellwood scored a goal and added an assist for the Canucks on the same day that he was recalled from the AHL.

Our View:Wellwood is trying desperately to stick with Vancouver and Tuesday's performance should keep him around a little bit longer.
October 21, 2008
The Canadien Press reports that the Vancouver Canucks recalled center Kyle Wellwood from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

Our View:Wellwood will only provide depth until the Canucks' injured players recover, such as Pavol Demitra, and he does not merit fantasy consideration.
October 18, 2008
Kyle Wellwood was put on waivers by the Canucks, according to the Vancouver Sun.

Our View:He played in one game and was a -1. If he goes unclaimed, he will be sent to the minor leagues.
September 26, 2008
Kyle Wellwood scored only 21 points in 59 games last season in Toronto, so he is looking to reclaim his once bright outlook in Vancouver, according to Slam Sports.

Our View:Wellwood scored 31 goals and 108 points in 189 games in Toronto, and will look to be a nice depth addition to a Canucks club that has struggled to score goals the past couple of years.
July 1, 2008
Restricted free agent Kyle Wellwood has signed a 1-year qualifying offer with the Canucks ensuring that he will be part of the organization in the coming season, according to TSN.

Our View:Wellwood was claimed off waivers from the Leafs where he scored eight times on his way to 12 points in 59 games as he dealt with a nagging groin injury for a large portion of the year. If given a top-6 role, his production would figure to rise substantially.
June 25, 2008
The Sports Ticker reports Kyle Wellwood was picked up off waivers by the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. Wellwood tallied 21 points in 59 games last season with Toronto.

Our View:Wellwood can produce when healthy, but he has a consistent history of injuries. Most recently, he broke a bone in his foot during offseason training.
June 24, 2008
Center Kyle Wellwood won't likely return to Toronto next season, according to the Globe and Mail.

Our View:The 25-year old Wellwood will become a restricted free agent on July 1. A source close to the Leafs reported that the team has no plans to offer him a new deal. It remains to be seen if another team would give him a shot, because he is only 5-10 180 pounds, and suffered through two injury-shortened seasons.
June 12, 2008
Kyle Wellwood has a broken bone in his right foot stemming from a training session two weeks ago, according to TSN.ca. He said, "I was playing indoor soccer and my foot sort of cracked."
