Our View:It is uncertain at this time of how serious the injury is, but we'll keep you posted on the star's status.

Alexander Ovechkin has been named the NHL First Star of November, according to the Associated Press. Ovechkin earned the monthly honor by scoring 25 points (11 goals and 14 assists)

Our View:He led the Capitals to a 8-5-2 record, which marks their best record in the month since going 9-5-1 in November 1996.

Our View:Ovechkin has scored a point in 10-straight games (25 points) with five goals in his last three games, and all memory of his slow start to the year has completely vanished as he has scored 13 goals while dishing off 17 assists in 21 games.

Our View:Ovechkin has seven goals and 11 assists on the season to go with 12 PIM and a plus/minus rating of +17. Clearly, fantasy owners have to be thrilled with his recent performance.

Our View:Ovechkin missed sometime while attending to his ailing grandfather, but is back in MVP form. He now has 15 points in 14 games this season.

Alexander Ovechkin snapped out of a nine-game goal-scoring drought on Monday as the Capitals defeated the Lightning 4-2. He recorded a goal as well as an assist while firing off six shots.

Our View:Ovechkin has just three goals in 12 games but expect him to get hot very soon. He had 65 goals in 82 games last season.

Our View:Ovechkin has been a disappointment to his owners so far, but it seems to be only a matter of time before he catches fire and starts climbing up the rankings.

Alexander Ovechkin failed to score a goal to extend his career long goalless drought to eight games on Thursday night. However, he did rack up three assists and he still has eight points in 10 games this season.

Our View:We keep talking about the impending breakout, and it started on this night with the helpers. It's only a matter of time before the goals start to flow as well, so continue to have faith in the dynamic Russian as he will still finish as one of the top scorers in the league.

Our View:Ovechkin was the NHL's MVP last season when he led the league with 65 goals and 112 points. He has kept up the scoring this preseason, with four goals and seven points in three games.

Our View:One of his goal's came on a penalty shot which he will probably see several chances of converting this season. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but there's a real good chance Ovechkin could be a pretty good hockey player in 2008-09.

The NHL and The Russian hockey league have reached a new agreement on how to deal with the transfer of players from Russia to the NHL, according to TSN. "Everyone in the room agreed that for the foreseeable future everyone will respect everybody's contracts," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said.

Our View:This agreement was basically in response to the fact that a Russian team made a huge offer to try an lure Evgeni Malkin from the Penguins.

Our View:The league is witness some growth in revenue, and that will be passed on to the players who can now earn up to $11.34 million in 2008-09.

The NHL's transfer agreement with European free agents has expired, according to ESPN. As a result, NHL team's will no longer be required to pay $200,000 to each team they take a player from. The downside is that it also means that the NHL cannot sign players that are under contract, they may only target European free agents.

Our View:Not much will change since the majority of the players signed in this way only make it to the NHL after a few years of seasoning. As an example, only six of the 59 European players signed before last season played in the NHL this season with 46 ending up in the minors.

Alexander Ovechkin won the Hart Trophy on Thursday night awarded to the leagues MVP, according to TSN. "I want to win everything," said the 22-year-old Ovechkin. "So next year maybe the Stanley Cup."

Our View:Ovechkin, the most dominating all-around player in the world, also won the Lester B. Pearson award as the player's choice for outstanding player of 2007-08, while his coach, Bruce Boudreau, won the Jack Adams award given to the leagues best coach.

Alexander Ovechkin is likely 24 hours from being named the NHL's MVP for the 2007-08 season, according to the Associated Press. The team also is looking to become the first squad in history to sweep the MVP, Rookie of the Year (Nicklas Backstrom) and Coach of the Year (Bruce Boudreau) in the same season.

Our View:Ovechkin is a shoe-in, while Backstrom figures to receive some strong competition from the Blackhawk boys (Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane). It would also be a bit of an upset for Boudreau to win the coaching honor, but having all three men nominated is huge for a club that was in last place in the Eastern Conference at Thanksgiving only to find themselves wind up as Southeast Division champs.

Alexander Ovechkin claimed two more awards, as he was presented with the Art Ross and Maurice "Rocket" Richard trophies on Wednesday, according to the Washington Post. He commented, "I always want to be the best. When I was a little kid, I wanted to win all of the personal awards, and right now I win a couple. I win this year, and next year I want to win more and I want to win with my team."

Our View:Ovechkin led the NHL in points (112) and goals (65) to earn the honors. Ovechkin is the first Russian to win the Ross and the first Washington player to win either trophy.

Our View:The odds on favorite for the award, Ovechkin lead the lead in goals (65), points (112), power-play goals (22) and game-winning goals (11). He also established an all-time record for goals by a LW in a season, and given the paucity of talent on his squad he obviously was a major reason that the Caps made the playoffs.

Washington LW Alexander Ovechkin may have enjoyed a wondrous season to remember, but his efforts fell short this evening as the Capitals fell 3-2 in overtime to the Philadelphia Flyers, ending the seven-game first-round series as the Flyers move on to face the Montreal Canadiens.

Our View:Ovechkin netted one goal and one assist, putting a full barrage of shots (nine in all) on the net but finding frustration and loss at the end of the evening.

Our View:Look for Ovechkin to have a massive performance in Game 4 as the Caps can ill afford to fall behind three games to one if they hope to emerge victorious.

I will try to hit them back and score goals. In the playoffs, everybody can be physical. There can be some bad things like cheap shots, because it's playoffs. But if they take a penalty, it's good for the Capitals. I don't care if somebody hit me. I like it." Alexander Ovechkin didn't score on Saturday night but the Washington Caps still managed to defeat the Panthers 3-1 to earn the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Semin both had a goal and an assist on the night. Ovechkin finishes the year with one of the best seasons by a left winger in league history with 65 goals, 112 points, 22 PP goals, 11 game winners and a +28. There is no disputing who the fantasy MVP of 2007-08 is.

Alexander Ovechkin scored his 64th and 65th goals Thursday, breaking the NHL record for left wingers that had previously been held by Luc Robitaille, according to the AP. Ovechkin also tied Peter Bondra's team record with his 22nd power-play goal. It would be a shame if we didn't get to watch Alex in the playoffs this year. The Caps are currently sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Alexander Ovechkin scored his 63rd goal of the season in helping the Washington Capitals to an impressive 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, putting the young hockey superstar at 110 points on the season. What more can you say about the kid? He’s outstanding, having scored 15 goals just this month. Getting through a game without a point is more shocking than anything for the young Russian, and from here, the sky is the limit.

Alexander Ovechkin continues to dominate the landscape of the NHL, netting one goal and one assist in Washington’s 3-0 shutout victory over Florida. That brings Ovechkin to 62 goals on the season with 47 assists, 109 total points. The kid was already out in front of the rest of the NHL in goals and total points and, as we’ve come to expect, he just keeps growing that lead.

Alexander Ovechkin netted his 61st goal of the year in Washington's 3-2 win over Carolina this evening. Ovechkin's 61 goals is a new franchise record for nets in a single season, the first man to reach that goal benchmark in the NFL in 12 seasons. Ovechkin has 16 goals in 23 career games against the Hurricanes.

Ovechkin had has seven points in three games on the week as he became the first 60-goal scorer in 12 years. Point blank, he is the best player on ice right now.

Ovechkin has now scored 23 third period goals, which is more than any other Cap has all season (Alexander Semin, 22). Just give Ovechkin the MVP right now as he is simply the most amazing talent currently on skates.

Alexander Ovechkin netted his 58th goal on the season in the Capitals' 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators. Ovechkin also tallied two assists, putting him at 102 total points on the season. This has been an absolutely superb campaign for the young Russian and he's only gotten better since the Caps gave him an outrageous contract extension. Thus far, it's hard to argue that he's not worth every penny.

It moved him to 99 points this season, but also gave him the highest goal total among European-born players in their first three seasons. Alexander Ovechkin has been named NHL player of the week, according to the Canadian Press. This was no surprise as he scored a hat trick with two assists against the Bruins and added two more goals against Buffalo, as well as notching three assists in the past two games of last week. He now has notched 54 goals and 41 assists for the season.

The left wing finished with five points putting his league leading total at 90 points on the season. Ovechkin was credited with a fourth goal in the third period, but official scorers changed it later giving him an assist on Brooks Laich's power-play goal.

"I'm not concerned, but I think he is," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He's pressing a little bit. You can tell. He's fanning on a couple of shots. It will come. You can't stop a guy like that forever." Ovechkin is stuck on 83 points for the season, 48 of those goals.

NHL.com. AO is simply put, the best player on skates right now. Since signing his 13-year contract, Ovechkin has 15 goals in 14 games. Looks like the money really went to his head.
