Patrice Bergeron continues to progress in his recovery from last season's concussion as he played in a charity event last weekend, according to the Boston Herald. “It was good to get all the feeling back and it was a good first test, but I was feeling good before that. I was going there for fun, but also for another kind of practice for me to get ready for September.”

Our View:Bergeron could be a big time sleeper this year as a return to the 70-point level isn't out of the question if he is healthy.

Patrice Bergeron's recovery from a major concussion is on track, and he participated in Boston's development camp this week, according to the Boston Herald. “I feel great. There’s no question in my mind that I’m ready and that I can go through the next 1 months of workouts and feel great for September,” he said.

Our View:Bergeron is a talented scorer when healthy, putting up at least 70 points in two of the three seasons he has been healthy. Concussions are tricky though, so drafting him on your fantasy squad comes with a risk that he may suffer another one at any point.

Patrice Bergeron is making favorable progress in his recovery from a serious concussion that limited him to only 10 games of service with Boston in 2007-08, according to the Detroit News. He has begun light skating at home, and he said, "I'm feeling great. I'm back doing full workouts the same as I was doing last year, and in some ways I'd even say I'm ahead of where I was last year. No problem."

Our View:Bergeron is up to 190 pounds, which is close to his intended playing weight. He is seemingly on track to be ready to go by training camp.

Patrice Bergeron skated in only 10 games last season due to a severe discussion, but he continues to progress well in his rehab and is almost ready to return to contact on the ice, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Bergeron is back up to 190 pounds, five below his normal playing weight, and he has been able to work out six times a week recently as he is symptom free. We wish the 22 year old all the luck in the world, and it clearly sounds like he should be physically ready to go by training camp.

Patrice Bergeron is almost assured of missing Game 7 against the Canadiens on Monday night, the Boston Globe reports.

Our View:We'll update his status again if the Bruins get by the Habs.
April 18, 2008
Patrice Bergeron will miss Game 6 of the Bruins first round of the playoffs, this according to the Boston Herald. "He still has to get clearance. It’s very unlikely he’d play in Game 6,” said GM Peter Chiarelli. “Our doctors haven’t seen a concussion like this in 30 years.”

Our View:It sounds like Bergeron is pretty close, but then again, there is no reason to push him back into a game if he isn't capable of handling it, not after he has missed this much time.
April 15, 2008
Patrice Bergeron is expected to miss Game 4 against Montreal, according to the Boston Herald. He is suffering from a concussion and has not gained clearance to play by neurologist Robert Cantu. Bergeron does not know when he will return and commented, "No timetable exactly. Obviously, I’m going to try and get in contact with them at some time. But for now, it’s disappointing. I’d like to be out there to help the guys, but obviously I’ve got to listen to the doctors and do what’s best for me." He has been out since October 27 due to the injury.

Our View:Hopefully he will ultimately be able to resume his career favorably.
April 14, 2008
Patrice Bergeron still isn't sure when he'll return to game action. He suffered a Grade 3 concussion in October. "I’m still waiting for the OK from the doctors," Bergeron tells the AP after practice on Monday. "I went to see them and they wanted me to have some more practices before getting back out there. It’s the doctors’ decision right now."

Our View:The Bruins could only be a few days away from rendering this storyline useless. Bergeron's return would obviously be a boost, but the club can't count on him to help them overcome the Habs.

The Boston Globe reports that Patrice Bergeron is feeling much better but he's not ready to play, and he has yet to be told by his many consulting physicians when he will be able to return to the Bruins' lineup. Bergeron is 5 1/2 months removed from taking a hit that could have killed him, one that left him with a Grade 3 concussion that reduced him to living the life of a recluse from the end of October until early January.

Patrice Bergeron returned to practice with the Bruins on Tuesday and though he won't play in Game 1, it now appears that he has a legitimate chance to return to play in the first round, this according to the Boston Globe. Out since October 27th with a concussion, Bergeron went through a full-contact, full-strength practice that included a couple of hits and came out no worse for the ware. His addition to the lineup could offer a huge emotional lift to the squad, and the kid can play a bit too.
April 7, 2008
The Bruins have cleared Patrice Bergeron to play in the postseason, the AP reports. Bergeron only appeared in 10 games during the regular campaign due to a concussion. This could be a big boost for the Bruins and will help Bergeron's fantasy value for the 2008-09 season.
April 2, 2008
Patrice Bergeron continues to improve on almost a daily basis, and while he is almost certain to miss the final few days of the regular season, there is some hope that he will be able to play at some point in the playoffs, this according to the Boston Globe. Bergeron still hasn't been cleared for contact and it would be foolish to count on any type of performance from him in the playoffs. Don't forget about him next year though if he has a solid off-season as he is still a point-per-game type performer when healthy.

Patrice Bergeron was examined by a neurologist on Thursday but failed to receive clearance for contact, according to the Boston Herald. "Everything was fine," Bergeron said. "They want to make sure my neck is fine. The main thing is getting stronger. In my off-ice workout, I was at about 80 percent as strong as I was before the injury. He wants me to get back to 100 percent." He's expected to spend the next two weeks building strength in his neck and adding weight. He's missed all but 10 games this season due to a Grade III concussion.
March 21, 2008
Out since the 10th game of the season with a concussion, Patrice Bergeron had a good day on Friday as he continued to recover to the point that he is practicing with his mates and hopes to join them on their upcoming road trip this weekend this according to NHL.com. Don't go overboard here as the team will be very cautious with Bergeron. The team is still holding out hope of his return for the playoffs, but if he experiences any setbacks they would almost certainly hold him back until next season.
March 15, 2008
Patrice Bergeron took part in his first practice Friday since suffering a serious concussion, according to the Boston Globe. Andrew Alberts and Manny Fernandez also joined the session, as all three work their way back from injuries. It's not clear when Bergeron will be ready for game action, but the fact that he was able to practice is a great sign.
March 5, 2008
Patrice Bergeron, out for over 50 games due to a concussion, has been skating hard and for 28 minutes he practiced with his teammates on Wednesday and the results were very encouraging, this according to the Boston Globe. "It felt good to be out there, and to get my heart rate higher, that's for sure. Now we'll see how I feel during the day, and tonight, whether the headaches come back." Bergeron is still a long ways from returning to game action, but it appears that there is now a legitimate chance that he could make it back before the end of the year for the Bruins.
March 1, 2008
Patrice Bergeron, who has missed 53 games, would like to return to active duty if the Bruins are in postseason play. According to the Boston Globe, the deeper into spring the Bruins play, the better the chance Bergeron has of dressing this year. The Boston center played in 10 games this season scoring seven points, three of those goals, before suffering a severe concussion and broken nose. "It's just great to be back on the ice," said Bergeron. "I was missing the game. It's been four long months.
February 25, 2008
Patrice Bergeron skated for the first time since suffering a severe concussion Oct. 27, according to the Boston Herald. “He just went out and cruised around lightly for about 10 minutes. It went well, no (post-concussion syndrome) symptoms,” Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said. “It’s a good step forward for him.” Bergeron suffered the head trauma when he was checked from behind at TD Banknorth Garden. The center hit the end boards face-first, causing a Grade 3 concussion and a broken nose. There is still no timetable for his return to active duty.
January 5, 2008
Patrice Bergeron still has not been cleared to lace up his skates and work out on the ice. Instead, he's limited to light off-ice workouts, according to the Boston Globe. Clearly, Bergeron is not close to returning from his severe concussion, so keep him on your bench.
