Nikolai Zherdev scored his ninth goal of the year in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Penguins.

Our View:Zherdev is having a terrific season for the Rangers this year and has 24 points in 28 games with a +9 rating. This is his first season in New York after beginning his career with Columbus.
November 24, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev assisted on the of the New York Rangers' four goals, helping them knock off Phoenix, 4-1.

Our View:Zherdev now has 20 points in 24 games, but it should be noted that he has not scored a goal since November 12.
November 12, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev scored his sixth and seventh goal of the year in the Rangers' 5-2 win over Devils.

Our View:Zherdev's two goals were the first goals he has scored since October 30. The right winger now has 16 points in 19 games.
October 30, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev notched a goal and an assist in the Rangers' 3-2 win over the Thrashers.

Our View:The goal was Zherdev's fifth of the year and now has a total of 12 points on the year in 13 games. A year ago he scored 26 goals for the Blue Jackets.
October 24, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev returned to his former home in Columbus in style scoring a goal and adding two assists on Friday night for the Rangers.

Our View:Zherdev has always been a streaky scorer, and though he has eight points in 10 games on the year he had been held pointless in 4-straight before this effort. Sublimely talented, Zherdev seems primed for a career season to better his totals from last year (26 goals, 61 points).
October 24, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev is said to start playing on a line with Markus Naslund and Chris Drury, according to the New York Post.

Our View:All three players have gotten off to slow starts, especially Chris Drury who is yet to score and has just one assist. Hopefully for fantasy owners, this could bolster the production of all three players.
October 11, 2008
Forward Nikolai Zherdev is enjoying a nice weekend. He followed up a three-point performance on Friday with a one-goal, one-assist effort in Saturday's win over the Flyers.

Our View:Zherdev is coming off a breakout 2007-08 season, and it looks like he is hungry for even more. Fantasy owners should continue to count on him for decent production.
September 19, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev looked terrible in the second day of camp for the Rangers as he displayed no energy or passion in stark contrast to the rest of his teammmates, according to the New York Post. The report went on to call him the "...laziest athlete on the ice."

Our View:Zherdev acts like a diva despite the fact that he has yet to establish himself as anything resembling a star. He is extremely talented, there is no dispute there, but he has always had questions about his grit, determination and his heart. Unless he shows a little more of that in all aspects of his life, last seasons 26 goal, 61 point eforrt will likely be the most that can be expected.
September 18, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev, as expected, will likely skate on the top line with the Rangers alongside Markus Naslund and Scott Gomez, according to Newsday.

Our View:Zherdev broke out last season in Columbus with 26 goals and 61 points, numbers that the Rangers hope he will at least match this season. An impending free agent after the year, Zherdev will likely be highly motivated to produce a big campaign.
July 2, 2008
The Blue Jackets have sent Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche to the Rangers in exchange for Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman, according to TSN.ca.

Our View:Zherdev was the fourth overall pick of the 2003 draft, and is coming off his most productive season as he racked up 26 goals and 35 assists (61 points) over 82 games with Columbus in 2007-08.
June 19, 2008
The Blue Jackets are considering offering Nikolai Zherdev to the Sharks in exchange for Patrick Marleau, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Our View:Marleau is said to be the Blue Jackets' number one target at center to play alongside winger Rick Nash. Zherdov's fantasy value would improve in San Jose while playing alongside stud Joe Thornton, but the Sharks are believed to be more interested in the Jackets' number six pick in the draft.
February 21, 2008
Nikolai Zherdev had an assist in regulation and scored the game winning goal in the shutout victory of the Blue Jackets on Thursday. Zherdev has had a spectacular comeback season a year after he totaled just 10 goals and 32 points and considered returning to Russia. This year he has 24 goals and 52 points in 63 games as he leads the Jackets with 28 assists.
February 15, 2008
