Marc-Andre Fleury, who didn't win the starting goalie job for the Penguins until the final preseason game, turned aside 40 shots by the Flyers on Thursday night en route to his second career shutout. Fleury came up really big in the second period, making 20 of his 40 saves.

Marc-Andre Fleury signed a two-year contract with the Penguins on Saturday, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed. Fleury had a 13-27-6 record with a 3.25 goals-against average and one shutout last season for Pittsburgh.

The Penguins are sending Marc-Andre Fleury to their minor league affliate in Wilkes-Barre today so he can start the team's first AHL playoff game Thursday night, according to the New York Times.

Marc-Andre Fleury will be on the bench for Friday's game with Florida, according to the Post-Gazette. Coach Michel Therrien wants Fleury rested for the AHL playoffs. "The next two weeks, I want to make sure we prepare him well for the playoffs," Therrien said. "That means he's not going to play all the games. My plan is to make sure that when he goes there to Wilkes-Barre, he will be rested, sharp and ready to attack the playoffs."

The Penguins don't plan to send Marc-Andre Fleury back to the AHL before he plays his 25th game this season, which could trigger a $3 million bonus, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. However, GM Craig Patrick was non-committal about the possibility of keeping Fleury around if it appears he will actually hit the four of six benchmarks needed to earn the balloon payment. "We haven't discussed it yet," Patrick said. "We'll let you know when we have a decision. I think Marc-Andre should be the first to know."

The Penguins are considering sending Marc-Andre Fleury back to the AHL, despite losing Jocelyn Thibault for an extended period, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The team recalled Dany Sabourin and Sebastien Caron yesterday.
