October 11, 2008
Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 47 shots on Saturday night, but the Devils got two by him and ended up with a 2-1 win.

Our View:You can't blame Fleury when the Penguins get out-shot 49 to 15.
October 5, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 24 of 27 shots on Sunday as he picked up the loss to fall to 1-1 on the year.

Our View:Through two games Fleury has allowed six goals while posting a save percentage of .903 in a just fair start to his campaign. Look for this type of average performance to be surpassed on most nights by this talented youngster.
July 3, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury has signed a seven-year, $35 million deal that includes a limited no-trade clause that begins in the 2010 season, according to TSN.com.

Our View:This move was expected to come soon, and it has. Fleury is one of the top goaltenders in the NHL and for fantasy hockey.
July 3, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury is close to signing a long-term contract with the Penguins, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The deal will be for five or six years, and just a few minor details remain before it is official.

Our View:Great news for Pittsburgh fans, as Fleury is one of the top netminders in the game. He should be one of the first goalies taken in fantasy hockey drafts.
June 14, 2008
The Penguins have filed for salary arbitration with goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette confirms. Fleury is due to become a restricted free agent this summer, but this move buys the club more time to work out a long-term deal.

Our View:The Penguins can't let this young goalie get away from them, and it looks like they don't intend to.
June 3, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury earned the top star on Monday night and for good reason. The goalie stopped 55 shots, including 24 during the three overtimes.

Our View:The Pens can't seem to slow down the Red Wings, and the slim Stanley Cup hopes rest on Fleury getting red-hot over the final two contests. Fleury is still only 23 and obviously has a brilliant future.
May 24, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury couldn't withstand the barrage of Red Wings shots in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals Saturday, as he allowed four goals on 36 shots in a 4-0 loss.

Our View:Fleury has been nails during this year's playoffs, but he's never had a bigger spotlight on him than he has now. He'll have to play better if they upstart Penguins want to have a chance at knocking off the veteran Detroit squad.
May 19, 2008
Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 21 shots for his third shutout of the playoffs. Each of those shutouts has come at Mellon Arena, where he has allowed 13 goals on 209 shots for a .938 save percentage over eight home playoff games.

Our View:The Penguins are 8-0 in those contests.
May 18, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped every one of the 21 shots sent his way on Sunday as he picked up his third shutout of this playoff season.

Our View:Fleury enters the Finals with a dazzling 12-2 record and a 1.70 GAA as he is clearly at the top of his game. At this point it's hard to imagine the Penguins failing in the Finals, but stranger things have happened.
May 13, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury improved to 11-1 in these playoffs by stopping 17 of 18 Flyers shots on Tuesday night.

Our View:Fleury has now allowed just nine goals over his last five starts as he and his mates appear to be peaking at the most important time of year. If you drafted Fleury for your playoff pool, then, how about giving us a Yahtzee.
May 11, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves, including 10 in the third period,en route to his 10th win of the postseason as the Pens defeated the Flyers 4-2 on Sunday night.

Our View:Pittsburgh leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.
May 7, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury has been on quite a role since the end of the regular season and he heads into the third round of the playoffs as a goalie to watch, according to Rototimes.com.

Our View:Fleury is 18-3-1 in his last 22 decisions, and he is sporting an 8-1 record with a sterling 1.76 GAA. He will give the Flyers all they can handle.
May 1, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury allowed only two goals on 33 shots on Thursday though the Penguins still fell 3-0 to the Rangers. The Pens still lead the series three games to one.

Our View:Fleury continues to give the Penguins a chance to win every night, and even with the loss he is still 7-1 in the playoffs. What, you thought he wouldn't lose a game on the way to the Cup?
April 29, 2008
He may be young, but that fits the scheme of the Pittsburgh Penguins all too well, and with names like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the roster, it's easy to understand how goalie Marc-Andre Fleury may be a bit undervalued. After tonight's 5-3 win over the New York Rangers, most fans will recognize the name of the young phenom tender as the Pens take the dominating 3-0 series lead.

Our View:Fleury may have allowed three goals on the evening, but he faced a whopping 39 shots on goal, more than double the total his teammates produced against opposing Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. The Pens' defense wasn't getting it done, but Fleury had their backs.
April 27, 2008
Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury hit the ice and did all he could in pushing his Pittsburgh Penguins to a 2-0 victory over the New York Rangers, giving the Pens a strong 2-0 lead in the series. Fleury kicked each and every one of the 26 shots the Rangers put on goal to the side, a vast improvement over the four goals allowed in the first game of the series.

Our View:This gives Fleury six straight wins in net as well as his third shutout of the playoffs.
April 16, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves on 22 shots to improve to 4-0 in the playoffs for the Penguins. Fleruy has allowed only five goals in those four games.

Our View:Fleury had a rough year appearing in only 35 games because of injury, but all told he is 23-10-2 on the year and should give the Pens a chance to win on almost every night.
April 9, 2008
Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury did his job, working with a little help from a strong defensive support group, and kicked each and every one of the 26 shots the Ottawa Senators put on goal to lead the Penguins to a 4-0 victory in the first game of their playoff battle. While shutouts aren’t the norm for this young tender on the rise, Fleury has been steady for the Pens in the late weeks of the season and could be hitting his stride at just the right time.
April 2, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury was named the NHL's second star for the month of March, this according to TSN. Fleury went 9-1-1 with a 1.44 GAA and .951 save percentage on the month for the streaking Penguins. Fleury has firmly established himself as one of the best young keepers in the game, though that isn't surprising considering he was the first overall selection in the 2003 Entry draft which marked the first time a goalie was selected first overall.
March 31, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury lost his 7-game winning streak on Monday though he permitted just two goals on 27 shots. Fleury has relegated Ty Conklin to the bench as he hasn't allowed more than two goals in 8-straight games as the Pens gear up for the playoffs.
March 30, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26-of-27 shots in a 3-1 win over the Rangers on Sunday. He improves to 18-9, and has notably won seven straight decisions.

March 6, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury started in net for the Penguins and allowed three goals on 19 shots before being relieved by Ty Conklin who stopped 21 of 22 shots in two periods. Fleury had won his last two starts while allowing just two goals, so tonight's outing was a bit of a disappointment. Given the recent struggles of Conklin prior to tonight, Fleury appears to be in the lead for playing time moving forward in the Pens net.
March 6, 2008

March 2, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury looked good in his first start Sunday since suffering an ankle injury last month, kicking aside 31 of 33 shots in a 3-2 shootout win. Ty Conklin had been playing well while Fleury was out but has struggled recently. Look for Fleury to eventually get his job back, though it might be a couple weeks.
February 28, 2008
Ty Conklin allowed three goals on just 13 shots before being replaced by Marc-Andre Fleury who allowed two goals on 18 shots in his first game since December sixth. It will be real interesting to see what the club does with the goaltending spot, but our best guess at this point would be that the team will go with the hot hand.
February 26, 2008
The Penguins will carry three goalies for the time being, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Marc-Andre Fleury returned from a conditioning stint last week but is still feeling some lingering effects from his ankle injury. Ty Conklin has been dynamite while filling in, and Dany Sabourin has proved to be a capable backup. This is bad news for fantasy owners, as Conklin and Fleury will likely split up the playing time pretty evenly down the stretch.
February 24, 2008
The Penguins have recalled Marc-Andre Fleury from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL, where he was on a conditioning stint. The goalie, who is coming back from a high ankle sprain, did not play Sunday, as Ty Conklin stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss. We could see Fleury back between the pipes on Tuesday night against the Islanders.
February 23, 2008
Penguins G Marc-Andre Fleury , out since Dec. 6 with a high ankle sprain, is expected to return to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Fleury made his fifth and final rehabilitation start for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). His return does not, however, mean Fleury will be in goal Sunday.
February 22, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to make at least one more start in the minors before rejoining the Pens, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He's slated to be in goal for the Baby Penguins Saturday, so Fleury may return from his high-ankle sprain next week.
February 18, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury is scheduled to make his third start in the minors on Monday night, but with the Penguins looking at four games in six days, it appears that Fleury will soon be back with the big club and in net according to NHL.com. However, that doesn't mean he will reclaim his starting role from Ty Conklin. "Nothing has changed for us," coach Michel Therrien said. "Performance dictates ice time and that's not going to change." Conklin has been terrific since replacing Fleury, and it sounds like if he keeps playing the way he has the past two months that he will still be in the mix to be the team's number one option.
February 15, 2008
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Marc-Andre Fleury's comeback from a high ankle sprain has hit a snag. The setback isn't due to an aggravation of the ankle injury, but to a league wide case of the flu. Fleury is considered a game-time decision as to whether he will be in goal when Philadelphia visits Wilkes-Barre on Friday night.
February 12, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury, out since Dec. 6 with a high ankle sprain, is expected to be in goal for the Penguins' Wilkes-Barre minor-league team tomorrow. He is scheduled to stay with the Baby Penguins for at least three games, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It could be a week, could be two weeks," GM Ray Shero said. "We'll see. [Goalie coach] Gilles Meloche is going down and will be with him most of the time. We'll just see how [Fleury] reacts. Not so much his wins and losses, but his conditioning, his timing, how he's handling the puck, the whole getting-back-into-the-game routine. When he feels comfortable, we'll make a decision as to what's best for him and best for us."
February 10, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury was assigned to the AHL on Sunday in order to see some game action in his attempt to come back from his injured ankle that has sidelined him for 28 games. No timetable has been set yet for his return, but the real question will be if he regains his starting spot given the play of Ty Conklin who has stepped up big time to go 14-3-3 with a 2.22 GAA while Fleury has been out. AP
February 8, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury has swapped out his bright yellow pads for white ones, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "There's more and more goalies wearing white these days," Fleury said. "The guys tell me it makes it look a little bigger." Anything that can give a goalie an advantage is something he should try. Of course, he'll have to return from his ankle injury before we see if it makes any difference. We should have a better idea when he'll be on the ice again after the weekend, but it could be within the next couple of weeks.
February 2, 2008
The Penguins got some great news Friday. Marc-Andre Fleury was able to practice for the first time since sustaining a high-ankle sprain back in early December, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Pens haven't set a timetable, but he hopes to return to game action within the next 10-14 days. Obviously, he'll have to get in some more practice without any setbacks before that happens, but he's skating in the right direction.
