The Flyers have signed Peter Forsberg to a two-year deal worth $10.7 million, according to the AP. He will get $5.7 million in the first year of the deal and $5.0 in the second year. Forsberg was orginally drafted by the Flyers, 6th overall, in 1991. "Peter Forsberg is one of the best players in the game," GM Bob Clarke said. "We signed him knowing that he puts us over the cap and we will have to trade some guys now."

Peter Forsberg injured his wrist while playing for his Swedish team on Thursday and might miss the rest of the Swedish Elite League season, according to the AP. He underwent immediate surgery after X-rays revealed a possible broken bone in his wrist. "In the best-case scenario, he'll be on the injured list for eight weeks," Modo team doctor Kim Thorsen told the paper. "But if it really is a fracture, the whole season is probably lost."
