Marek Svatos continues to work on his return from an ACL injury and even took part in some of the scrimmages this past weekend, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "(Svatos) is doing really well,” HC Tony Granato said. “We’re trying to make sure his conditioning’s good, but he looks good. I think he’s ready to play, but his conditioning isn’t up to speed.

Our View:Svatos could easily be a 30-goal scorer this season if he can stay healthy as he has recorded 75 goals in 193 career games which equals 32 goals per 82 games on the ice. He is a great player to target late in fantasy drafts.

Colorado signed Marek Svatos to a two-year deal worth $4.1 million, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The Avalanche avoided a scheduled arbitration hearing by signing him. Francois Giguere said, "Marek Svatos has been a key ingredient to our success the last few years. He’s scored many big goals for this club and we expect him to be a strong force for us again this season."

Our View:This was a key signing for Colorado, as he contributed 26 goals (and 11 assists) over 62 games to the club last season.

An exam has revealed that Marek Svatos has a torn ACL in his left knee. He will require surgery and be sidelined for the rest of the season, according to the Denver Post. Svatos was the Avs leading goalscorer with 26 tallies, so obviously this is a big blow to them and his fantasy owners.
