Trent Hunter had a nice day on Friday as he signed a 5-year contract extension to remain with the Isles, according to a report on NHL.com. "This is what I was determined to see happen all along - a long-term deal," Hunter said. Hunter is making $1.55 million this year, though terms of the deal were not announced. Hunter has averaged 20 goals the past three seasons, though this year he has just eight markers. He does have 24 assists, the second highest total of his career, though numbers like these are best left on waivers.

Trent Hunter signed a one-year contract with the Islanders on Friday, according to ESPN.com. An arbitrator awarded Hunter a $1.55 million contract. He logged 35 points in 77 games last season.

Our View:Hunter took a step back from his 2003-04 rookie campaign when he scored 25 goals and added 26 assists. He should draw some fantasy interest from owners who believe he can bounce back to his rookie season level.
