Kari Lehtonen, a restricted free agent, re-signed with the Thrashers on Wednesday though term were not announced, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Our View:Lehtonen had an extremely uneven year going 17-22-5 for the Thrashers, though his SV% of .916 showed that more often than not it was a lack of solid play in front of him that led to his poor production. He is perfectly suited to be a solid goalie two in the coming season, one with some upside if the team can tighten up things on defense.

Kari Lehtonen is confident he will re-sign with the Thrashers, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said, "This is where I want to play. It feels like home."

Our View:Lehtonen could become a restricted free agent on July 1, and will be looking for a pay increase from the $2.2 million he made in 2007-08, despite only going 17-22-5.

Kari Lehtonen ended the 2007-08 season on a high note by stopping 30 of the 31 shots that were fired his direction by the Lightning on Saturday night. Lehtonen finishes the year 17-22-5, and while his GAA approached three, his save percentage of .915 is a better representation of his talent level. If the team can just play some defense in front of him Lehtonen could possibly sneak his way into the top-12 of goaltenders next season.
March 31, 2008
Kari Lehtonen pitched a shutout on Monday as he stopped all 36 shots that the Lightning threw at him to pick up his 16th victory of the season. Lehtonen still ranks as one of the better young goalies in the league, but unless he gets some more help from his teammates he will remain a second class citizen at the goalie position because of a poor GAA (3.02) despite a solid SV% (.913).
March 21, 2008
Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on Friday night, the third time in four games that he has been torched for that many. Lehtonen has now lost three straight games to fall to 14-22-5 on the year as the Thrashers continue to slowly melt away.
March 18, 2008
In need of a positive note, Kari Lehtonen withstood an absolute flurry of shots in the Thrashers' disappointing 2-3 loss to Philadelphia this evening. Lehtonen dismissed 44 of 47 shots heaved at the net, but his performance fell just short as Atlanta managed just 19 SOG of their own. This has been a tough campaign for Lehtonen in '08, but this game shows the talent is there for better days.
March 5, 2008
Kari Lehtonen was pulled in favor of Johan Hedberg in the second period after allowing four goals on 22 shots on Wednesday night. Hedberg wasn't much better with 13 saves on 15 shots. Lehtonen is now an awful 13-19-4 on the year for Atlanta, and his GAA is nearly three despite a SV% of .911.
February 28, 2008
Kari Lehtonen allowed five pucks to slip past him on Thursday night in the Thrashers 5-4 OT loss to the Islanders. Lehtonen falls to 13-19-2 on the year, and let's just say it, he has been brutal of late having allowed 10 goals in his last two games and 22 in his last five. Goaltending like that doesn't get it done in the AHL let alone the NHL, so reserve him for the moment if he is on your roster and hope that some practice time will help him to turn things around.
February 15, 2008
Kari Lehtonen, who is 3-2 in his past five outings despite allowing only eight goals, is expected to start in goal Saturday when Atlanta visits the New York Islanders. Lehtonen evened his record on the year with his 14th win Friday night.
February 13, 2008
Kari Lehtonen stopped 39 of 41 shots in the game and then held off the Caps in the shutout to lead the Thrashers to a 3-2 OT victory. For good measure, Kari also added an assist. Over the last six games the Finnish keeper has allowed only nine goals as his play has improved immeasurably of late. If you need a push in the goaltending categories target Kari in a trade since his owner may not realize what he has given the fact he owns just a 13-14-2 record.
January 15, 2008
Kari Lehtonen stood on his head in Tuesday's win at Detroit, stopping 46 of 47 shots. He's now 9-10-1 on the year.
