Steve Ott will be forced to play an even more important role in Game 4. Defensive specialist Jere Lehtinen was scratched from Game 3 due to a leg injury, moving Ott onto the top line as a right- winger alongside Mike Ribeiro and Morrow.

Our View:Despite several scoring chances, The Stars' postseason penalty-minute leader went pointless in Game 3 in more than 11 minutes of ice time. With both Lehtinen and Stu Barnes either out, or ailing at best for Game 4, Ott will see top-six minutes, as well as time on the penalty kill.

Steve Ott only has one assist this series, but more important than his offense is the fact that he rattles opponents. He was at his Steve Ott-best on Saturday, racking up 12 minutes in penalties and getting his share of chances.

Our View:So strong was his line in Game 2 (linemates: Toby Petersen and Brad Winchester) that Ott saw nearly two minutes of power-play time. The Red Wings are having a difficult time getting a handle on this feisty line and the way this series is being played all a team seemingly needs is two goals to win. Tension is mounting between the two teams, and that's right up Ott's alley.

Steve Ott got his series off to a good start as he notched an assist in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Detroit.

Our View:That was his third point of the playoffs.

The Dallas Stars have re-signed enforcer Steve Ott to a new two-year contract, according to TSN.ca.

Our View:The Dallas center will reportedly earn $1.425 million per season under the terms of his new deal. Ott netted 11 goals and 11 assists this season, but his true value was measured in penalty minutes: 147 in 73 games this season.

Steve Ott was suspended three games without pay Wednesday by the NHL, according to Fox Sports. The Dallas forward issued a hit to the head of Colorado defenseman Jordan Leopold that resulted in a league imposed suspension. No penalty was assessed on the hit but the suspension came after a review of the play. Ott will miss Thursday's game at Detroit and games against Vancouver and Anaheim before being eligible to return March 22 against Los Angeles. Ott's $12,834 salary will go to the NHL players' emergency assistance fund.
