Tough guy Jody Shelley was rewarded with a two year contract for his work with the Sharks, according to the Mercury News. The deal is for $725,000 for each of the next two years. "He is one of the most respected players in our room because of his team-first attitude and his willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done," Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson said.

Our View:Shelley is basically a non entity in terms of fantasy production. He was once a prodigious fighter but he only had 135 PIM last season, and his seven points certainly aren't going to get anyone excited. Great guy, great teammate, poor fantasy option.

San Jose tough guy Jody Shelley picked up a total of 41 penalty minutes in San Jose's rough season finale against Dallas on Sunday. Among his penalties: an instigator and a game misconduct in the second period. While this type of rough play works in the regular season, don't expect to see Shelly on the ice much during the upcoming Stanley Cup games

Jody Shelley returned to Nationwide Arena last night for the first time since he was traded to the Sharks on Jan. 29, notes the Columbus Dispatch. "I slept in my own bed last night," said Shelley, who spent parts of seven seasons with the Blue Jackets. "It was great to see some people around this city and the rink that I haven't seen for a while, but it was a little strange taking the ice for the morning skate." The Blue Jackets honored Shelley with a video tribute six minutes into the first period. In 43 games this season, the winger has no goals and only four helpers.
