September 15, 2008 Glen Metropolit is in a walking boot less than a week before camp is set to open after undergoing minor foot surgery, according to Our View:Metropolit injured the foot, wait for it...to remove a two inch piece of palm frond was wedged into his leg when a tree fell on his property. It wasn't that he was injured, the issue was that the frond was in his foot and he didn't know it which resulted in an infection. We couldn't make that up if we tried. |

July 1, 2008 Glen Metropolit has signed a two-year deal with the Flyers, according to Our View:The Bruins wanted to re-sign him, but he opted to test the market in free agency. He only scored 11 goals and 22 assists over 82 games last season, but excels as a penalty-killer, and was a solid acquisition for the Flyers. |

The Maple Leafs are believed to be among the clubs interested in him. David Krejci emerged last season, and Patrice Bergeron is expected to bounce back healthy, meaning Metropolit could end up on the fourth line if he re-signs with Boston. |
