Andrew Ference, who is on the shelf with a fractured right tibia, is targeting a January return, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:He underwent surgery Monday and Dr. George Theodore inserted a pin to help stabilize the fracture and speed up his recovery time. Ference was enjoying a solid campaign with seven assists over 16 games.

The Boston Globe reports Andrew Ference will be out up to eight weeks after fracturing his right tibia. He will undergo surgery for the injury on Monday.

Our View:This is a big loss for the Bruins, as Ference has seven points in 16 games played this season.

Andrew Ference practiced for the first time since spraining his knee on March 22 and said he is ready for Game 1 of the playoffs, according to the Boston Globe. The defenseman has ample playoff experience with 51 post-season games under his belt, but holds a poor -14 +/- this season.

The Bruins still don't know if Andrew Ference is ready to return. He has missed five games due to a sprained knee and has skated the last three days. Ference tells the Boston Herald that he feels good, but "it’s just a matter of the coaches figuring out what’s the smartest thing to do on whether to push it to get back or just continue on."
