Goalie John Grahame has reportedly signed a deal with Avangard Omsk of the Russian Elite League, according to the Raleigh News and Observer. Terms or further details of the deal were not revealed.

Our View:The Hurricanes were not expected to offer Grahame a new deal after two seasons as Cam Ward's backup. Grahame went 5-7-1 over 17 games (12 starts) in 2007-08.

The Hurricanes recalled John Grahame for their AHL affiliate in Albany on Monday, according to the AP. He logged a 4-6-1 record and a 3.83 GAA while playing for the Hurricanes earlier this season.

Our View:Grahame replaces Michael Leighton, who was sent to the AHL to get more playing time. Cam Ward will get the bulk of the starts, meaning fantasy owners shouldn’t grab Grahame unless they feel the need to handcuff Hurricanes netminders.

The Hurricanes signed John Grahame to a two year, $2.8 million contract, according to the AP. Grahame will replace Martin Gerber as Carolina's starting goalie.
