Jeffrey Vinik has apparently reached a tentative agreement to purchase the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:While nothing is official just yet, the deal with previous owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie is apparently in its final stages, and expected to be worth slightly under $170 million. Since Vinik is self-financing the deal, there shouldn't be too many problems completing the transaction.
